WE COMPARE A FEW OF THE AK'S THAT ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE IN THE MARKETPLACE TODAY INCLUDING THE WASR, ARSENAL SLR, ARSENAL SAM7 AND THE ZPAP. WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE IF YOU COULD ONLY HAVE ONE?
Went to the gun shop and I asked the owner if Zastava was worth the extra money compared to century arms, and he told me all the rifles in for repair were made by century, not a single Zastava. Just purchased my M70 the other day very satisfied
I’ve wanted a PAP rifle for years, and I just ordered me a ZPAP today. I’ve been watching them for a while and they keep flying off the shelves. I finally found one on GBroker new in the box for $1K and jumped at it. It’s the polymer furniture version, I’d rather wood instead but I’m not going to complain. I’m glad I waited this long to get one because I’m getting the best features this far. Awesome presentation. Thanks for sharing.
Nice vid! Got my beautiful Zastava last month and as a long time ak owner this is the best ak I've had so accurate and smooth as well as durable. Got the m70 npap!
I decided to get on-board with the potential AK import bans and am shopping around. I was deciding between ZPAP M70 and the WBP Box, and after watching your video I am now going to start looking for the ZPAP. Thank you so much for an extremely detailed info video. It really helped me a lot and I'm sure I say that for other folks who are looking to get into the AK import game.
Thank you! Now go get yourself the Fox! or better yet perhaps a Polish Beryl!! Keep stacking the imports. Trust me you will thank me a year or two from now.
Yeah, I'm buying AK's up. It's amazing we can still buy the most deadly assault rifle ever manufactured. Thank you Ar-15 for getting all the attention away from the AK !!! All it will take is one "nut" to thin out the neighborhood with an AK instead of an AR, and yup, the Ak's will be banned first.
My new ZPAP looks so cozy sitting next to my M-48 Mauser. Two amazing rifles. BTW , thanks for the prediction about banning imports. Here I am writing in October of 2021 , and the ban on Russian ammo is very real.
I picked up the ZPAP M70 with polymer furniture. I didn’t plan on buying anything the day that I picked it up. So happy that I did. It runs as smooth as a sewing machine. Excellent rifle.
Keep shooting it. The more you shoot the smoother it gets. My underfolder is by far my smoothest rifle. It even gives the krebs a run for its money in that department.
Just bought the red side folder version of it last night, for 1400. I'll get the Mapel one and the walnut one next as well. I bought the original Century import M70AB2 wood furniture underfolder in 2005-06 for $450 Nib, with two mags, bayonet, sling and cleaning kit. Still got it, and it still runs like a champ. I can't think of one FTF over the past 15yrs. Wanted an all Serbian made one, so I was looking at the Michelle imports from the 80s. However, they are about 3-4K. So now that Zastava created Zastava USA, and are exporting their guns (minus the compliance tid bits) I had to get one. Or three...
My first good A.K was a Yugoslav underfolder with the flip up night sights that were no longer lit up, it had the wood hand grips and black plastic pistol grip. It looked like it had been in storage for years and got imported. I got mine when the old ban was lifted in the early 2000's
@@rockordnance I was thinking about that AK-47 and it had another sight in the front that folded up and it was for grenade launchers. I had forgotten about that but I just remembered that was on that Yugoslav and that was a very good AK and I wish I still had it.
Just purchased one of these off Armslist for $1,000, came with 6 mags, and all Midwest industries furniture on it. It’s built like a damn tank. Heavy rifle and shoots amazingly
Hands down best AK on the market right now value wise. I totally agree with you on some of the more proprietary aspects of the gun. I LIKE having more real-estate on my handguard. Gives you plenty of room for a light and a good foregrip if you so choose. I like how beefy they built the gun in general. The extra thickness on the receiver and bulged front trunnion are huge for durability and longevity of service. Also the gun is less janky feeling than a lot of other AK's on the market IMO. You shouldn't have to spend 2k to get a AK that doesn't seem like a drunk person built it and passed the QC on it. The only other AK on the market right now making waves is the WBP Jack and the mini Jack and that gun is just not as good of a buy for the value. You can find Zastava's for as low as 900 bucks some places. Those WBP Jacks are coming out the gate at 1400-1500 bucks and its REALLY nothing special. Its JUST an AKM that WORKS and lives up to what an AK should be able to do. Its fucked up that the AK market is so fucked up right now that people will spend that much for a reliable AK. In all honesty no AK should get to 2k and most shouldn't cost more than 700-800 bucks the only reason they do is because people fucking buy em for those inflated prices and I mean value is almost meaningless. Cause you can buy a PSA piece of junk novelty AK for the same price just about as the Zastava which is an actual working gun you could use in the field if you needed to and its going to be reliable. and so will the WBP but it costs 500 dollars more, and the only benefit you really get is compatibility of furniture. And the only time that's going to matter is if the world collapses and you gotta survive in the woods on limited resources and you needed a new handguard for your AK or some shit. its going to be a lot easier if you have a "mil-spec" kind of gun so to speak. But truth be told if that happened 75% of us would probably be dead before we had a chance to even do anything to begin with. So it doesn't really matter to me. I think the whole compatibility thing is over sold by people who live a fantasy about if a SHTF scenario arises they're just going to be out there surviving in the wasteland like Ellie and Joel or some shit. When the harsh reality is if things got that bad chances are something would happen that would lead to a huge death toll and your 3/4 chances going to be one of the people who dies from a god damn nuke or something like that. Everybody is a side character who thinks they're a protagonist in this world. That's part of the reason we have so many victim minded people running around. Cause no matter how badly you want to believe the world revolves around you, like a movie revolves around a protagonist, you find out very harshly that the world doesn't give a fuck about you. Aint no divine plan. Aint no narrative. Aint no plot armor. and the good ones suffer first. That's just reality. As sad as it is.
Bro ,you good ? We all our own heroes;) A look at the stars is all we need to remind ourselves how trivial we all are on this rock. Just remember that we passed a pandemic and living in the best times humans ever existed on this rock.
@@1308SPAZZ PSA are good in terms of NOVELTY grade AK's. They are 100% produced for the civilian market by people who haven't even been doing it for 10 years yet. Not saying PSA doesn't make GOOD AK's there is just a very obvious difference in quality when you compare a gun like a PSA AK to someone who has been doing it for generations now, and also builds these guns for their countries military and there fore have more experience but also they build these guns to actually work. Not just to sit in chads gun safe for 98% of the year, every year. This is why is preach so hard on Zastava being probably the best bang for the buck right now. Another reason I don't particularly like PSA is because, I don't give a fuck what they say, everything they make is mass produced. That's why PSA has the inconsistencies it has with its QC. Yes companies like Zastava mass produce their guns too, but then we go back to experience and standards being what separates these two companies. Zastava has bad eggs too. Every company does. But PSA has a few guns that, are just having some very basic level problems. And for the prices they are asking for on some of the 100 series guns PSA can eat a dick. I dont care if they serve the gun with a lifetime warranty. Im not paying 1300 bucks, waiting 2 weeks for it, to see its one of the guns with issues so I gotta send it back in. That shit right there kills the gun for me, idc who it comes from. So my issues with PSA are basically trust related. I trust they'll do the right thing, but I also trust that there's a fair chance that I buy an AK from them to find out the firing pin is out of spec, or any of the other issues they have been reported having. Nd I dont play around with 1300 bucks. If im spending 1300 on a AK that bitch better run. And that's why I bought a M92 instead of the PSAK105 I was going to get originally.
@@stoegerstewie8351 lol, yeah. I dont remember what exact mindset I was in when I wrote that bottom part lol. Im guessing it was a night where I was a little stressed out, probably popped a bottle open too lol. Whiskey and SHTF videos lol Im guessing thats what I was on lol
Good overview. The Bulgarian stuff is in another price category, so for basic AK's most people get to choose between Zastava and Cugir (Romanian). I've had really good luck with the Romanian imports for what its worth. Cugir rifles have been imported by M+M as well as Century (WASR, RH10, Draco etc) and they are all good to go.
Out my collection of AKs the Zpap definitely has the best fit and finish. Glad i got one before they went up to over a grand. Things are getting crazy with prices right now.
@F RR Hell, I use steel case on anything. If I can get steel for it, its running it. I run it in my tavor, my AR's, AK's my scorpions and anything else I can get steel for in the correct caliber. Why not? its cheap and I can tell you from experience it doesnt hurt a dam thing. Dont listen to those that will tell you otherwise. Put it this way, your grandson will be shooting the gun before steel case ammo wears it out.
I truly like you from what I’ve seen in your videos. A guy that’s not pushing sponsors and is truly excited about his guns. I’d love to have a cup of coffee and just hangout as two regular guys with similar interests.
Ordered my ZPap over a month ago in walnut, and just put the 10th coat of Tung oil on it...it looks absolutely beautiful. I paid $1050 for it, but I know prices will only go up.
@@rustcoalnope that’s about what it is after tax. $992.99 then about $1,058 if I remember after tax. I got mine for $967 after tax with a code and free shipping.
I'm new to AK's and was on a Groupe on Facebook. This guy on there said he worked on guns and this was the worst you could get. He absolutely said they were a piece of crap. I differed with him and he sort of got mad. He said "listen" to me... these guns are crap. I would never buy one. I think you for confirming what I thought. And this is the one I'm going to buy.
Don’t be scared, palmetto state is making incredible ak’s if you’re concerned about performance. If you’re looking for collectibility; buy now and buy fast
Got mine on black friday. Went in looking for an AR but they were so expensive and the clerk talked me into a Zpap because of import bans and local ammo avalability.
I agree this is definitely one of the best, if not the best, of the civilian AK variants. My only complaint is that they went with a proprietary side mount instead of just offering a Piccatinny railed dust cover. LoL that we don;t see corrosive ammo anymore. I have several unopened crates of corrosive M67 ammo.. Lots of places still sell that ammo. I like the new Polish magazines.
@@rockordnance, I am quite sure that they're very similar ......GL Core buttstock and AG 47 pistol grip, TDI was out of stock so I found the Alfa from the Russian Federation basically what TDI copied and I have a Cheese Grater gastube cover. 3X Primary Arms acs reticle scope
Got my girl an SLR-95 last Christmas. 800 bucks for an Arsenal?! Couldn't pass that up! Of course I picked it up right about the time people started fighting over toilet paper. Quite possibly one of the smoothest actions of any rifle I've ever held. Might have to keep my ear to the ground for one of these for myself 😁
You know I agree with you! I was going toward the factory stuff but Yea, Krebs takes the cake for custom AK's ! Hell, I dont even consider them custom, I consider them a manufacturer as well. Just a high end one. If I had to keep just one or a go to war rifle, definitely my Krebs. I would probably ditch that zenitco furniture I have on mine and go to either the factory arsenal poly folder that came on it or the factory triangle stock. I would either put one of marks handguards on it or the TDI and for an optic I would either run my PA 3x prism or PA 1x6 and that folks is in my opinion the best ak. But for factory guns I'll take the yugo.
I actually forgot you had a zpap. I told you I was going to end up getting one! If you guys want to see a nicely done zpap, go over to my buddy's channel, eltenda's channel! This guy right here! He put together and added some things that make his one sweet looking rifle! Im going over to your video right now to refresh my memory. You added one of mark's handguards right?
I think meridian defense is top dawg now, they suppressor tune their guns included in the $15-1600 price, 🤔 whereas RDynamics, your paying over $2k for a suppressor tuned gun. Don't get me wrong , every custom builder you mentioned are the shit, just throwing 2 cents in.
@@choppahgobark I mean at this point they are just Romanian build kits with extra parts. but you do you. They dont even make their base guns Arsenals anymore.
I gave 1750 for mine 2yrs ago. It has aftermarket furniture. It is a tank. They will pry that out of my cold dead hands. It runs out ammo with 0 issues as fast as you want. Zastava is the only choice in my book. I am just pissed the bayonet lug was cut off. Good video.
🇦🇺😎👍Youse people have all the good gear in the US. We get screwed down he in Australia regularly. We get told not to cause too much trouble with the government otherwise they’ll take everything away (SSAA) ( sporting shooters association Australia)They took all our semi automatic rifles and pump action shotguns in 1997 just in case. Nowadays they are coming for the bolt actions. 284 Nosler and up are banned for safety ( just in case ) in Western Australia and now they are putting 5 gun limit on shooters. ( buy back the rest or hand it in ) Not to mention the Licencing and registration crap and the cost associated. In Australia we don’t have a violent society. We don’t have mass shootings etc. Australia is a happy peaceful hard working nation and still they hound us. Great video brother. Never give up the 2A , it’s better than privileges
Never knew that high hump on the hammer is what caused the tail mushrooming. Makes sense! I smoothed out the top of my ALG hammer on my Romanian to let it ride smoother but didn’t on my PSA AK103. I noticed the mushrooming on my PSA but my Romanian looks good. Now I will smooth out the hammer on my PSA. Thanks for the info!
It's not the hump that causes the mushrooming. What causes it is the hammer being harder than the bolt carrier tail. Tapco G2 triggers were notorious for being hardened more than most carriers and would mushroom the tails. There have been reports of earlier batches of ALG triggers that were too hard. Personally I have not experienced the problem with ALG's but I have with Tapso's. I wouldnt worry yourself about it. Typically if they do mushroom, its only a little bit and stops and really doesnt matter. In a perfect world both would be hardened to the same Rockwell hardness and would stay perfect. But.....
Finally got one a few weeks ago for $1300 !! I wish I would have grabbed one when they were $800-$1000, but glad I got the chrome lined barrel. Now I have some shooting to do.
I tried to buy a Tiger Maple online when it was first released from a reputable and well-known dealer and the website indicated that I made the purchase. But because so many were making the purchase for that same rifle, I got screwed out of getting one. figured that Zastava would make another batch and even one gun store told me they had some on the way. But alas, it wasn't to be for me again. I almost got the Serbian Red triangle folder ZPAP but thankfully, someone online wrote that if I want a Tiger Maple that bad, I should go to a website where I found several on auction. I wasn't going to wait so I paid double the price a few days ago. I don't have the luxury of living in a free state, so I can't bid for valuable items that might soon be banned by that decrepit, brain-damaged resident and his boss.
LOVE your videos! Totally agree about your talking points. These and the Arsenal sam7s could be the next "Polytech Legends" and Veprs. Protectors metals are now copper brass and lead. Those tiger stripes look fantastic. Great find!
Man this was a year ago and now it's so much worse. I just bought a VSKA and wish I would have bought the Zastava zpapm70 but very very serious about getting it anyway. Thanks for the video, I really appreciate it.
I hear that people on the AK files say the chrome is flaking. Mine is holding up very well. I loved my Zastava. I picked mine up in June 2020 for about $799.00. My Bosnian friend told me they did not chrome line their barrels so that they could quickly make the barrels in case of a war.
Lots of rumors about why they didntuse chrome. Some say they lacked the natural resources in their country and would have to rely on importing the chromium.
@@rockordnance There was no need to chrome line barrels. It is simple, you have to keep your rifle clean. Every soldier in Yugoslav (latter Serbian) army had obligation to return his rifle in the same condition after a one year service. 5 % of barrel damage was allowed. If there was more damage, you should pay for it (although, I never heard that such a case ever occured). So, keeping your riflle clean and in the good order on daily bases was a priority.
Ive heard the same from some guys who served in the yugo army. The reason some folks here in the states get so worked up about it is that back when ak's first started coming in, all there was was milsurp corrosive ammo. They would go shooting and not clean the rifle right away and then pick the gun up a week later to find the bore all rusted. Now with commercial ammo, its not a problem but they will then insist a chrome bore will last longer. This is usually the same guy who puts 20 rounds through it every couple years. The rifles will outlast them and their grandchildren. LOL!
You should! Pick a solid import. Wasr, zastava, arsenal. That order is going from least expensive to most expensive. Import rifles are for the most part built in military factories and will be built to those standards. They will work and last.
I purchased a Century Arms Thunder Ranch for $1400 after tax back in March, 2 weeks later I saw a ZPAP for 1250 + tax. As of yet I have nothing to complain about but I still wish I had waited for the ZPAP
I didn't have a choice as far as wood or hogue setup .It popped up as available at 5:25 in the morning . I had to go feed the critters ,I didn't hesitate I ordered right then no waiting to confer with the BOSS , ""Life or Death Decision """ I know ,I know. At 5:45 it was no longer available , and has not been since. Everywhere you go now Ak's are over a thousand everywhere they can be found , which is like finding a white Unicorn. My M70 was $799.99 in Sept 20 , Jan 13th 21 $ 999.99 and My fingers were typing so fast the keyboard was smoking. I had to wait 7 weeks before I got it .I agree boys and girls ,if you don't get one now , you may never get the chance ever again. They have been banned 3 times in my lifetime , the 4th will be the last ,wanna bet!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Century's are unavailable everywhere too . And they are nothing compared to a Zastava. If nothing else great investment . Peace.
I have exactly the same model, M70, but with walnut but cannot bring myself to putting anything on the wood, like Zastava's instruction say. That natural wood look and texture on mine is just too beautiful and I know putting any kind of finish on it, it will not look the same. I know that you you should protect the wood but I just can't do it. LOL.
Wonderful. Another "This is the best AK in the world" video. Might I suggest that the "best AK in the world" is the one you can afford and find it in stock when you're looking for an AK.
I absolutely agree with you. That's why I didnt say best ak in the world. The title is Best ak on the market today. Meaning best ak that is available and a good price considering the current market.
Congratulations!!! You chose well! As your first album, I know all to well how exciting it is and how much you probably love that gun. My first was a Yugo as well. Enjoy and spread the word to all you know. What’s important is that we gain 2a supporters or this way of life is over my friend. Try to introduce someone new everyday, especially the young. We need them and their votes! Have fun and be safe!
You got a really nice set of hand guards, I'm jealous. My stock looks amazing but my hand guards I wish had more striping. They are beautiful guns though. I used tung oil on mine and it's beautiful.
The zpap is an awesome rifle for the money but I put the sams in a different class. Not necessarily a better class just different. The milled guns have a different feel. Again, different not necessarily better. I tend to prefer stamped guns. For whatever reason I like the looks better, I like that I can run a heavier barrel but be roughly the same weight as a milled and I've got stamped guns that are smoother than my sams. That being said, I love my Sam side folder and my sam pistol. The sidefolder shoots so well for me! With iron sights and offhand shooting, I just cant miss! The thing is like a laser beam. Must just be it fits me well, handles well and is very accurate. Maybe I was having a good day, who knows. I shot the zpap and the Sam back to back the other day and definitely shot the Sam better but I love the yugos more and if I had to choose would probably keep my yugos over my sams.
You are the first who properly said it "Yugoslavian Civil War" which it exactly that. Unlike what media in US and west used to push for 20 years. And as for chrome barrel. They had rifles even back in the 70ties with chrome, but military doctrine was to clean rifle everytime it was used so it was unnecessary and non-chrome barrels are more precise.
I have one as well as the Zastava, if you shoot both with your eyes closed someone would have to lie to say they could tell the difference between the two. Because I own both I can say with confidence, considering how the average American will use their AK, I'm not sure the Arsenal is actually worth double.
"Pursuit of happiness " . It really does sadden me when I stop and realize that I bought my guns for recreation not for war , but our gooberment makes me out to be a terrorist because I enjoy my hobby of shooting and collecting . Well I used too . Can't hardly afford it as things are today !
It just hit me while I was recording it. Yes its all about our 2nd and being able to defend ourselves against a government out of control but when I thought about life, liberty and the pursuit of......... and then it hit me. HAPPINESS. My hobby, guns, the people that enjoy my hobby with me, thats what its all about. Yes, by all means its there to protect us and our way of life but its our way of life and this particular protection that makes me happy. Why cant I be left alone to enjoy my stuff? THe stuff that makes me happy? Its just so crazy ironic that the very thing that makes me happy is also what protects my freedom to be happy! I guess that makes the whole issue doubly important to guys like us. They want to take away our happiness.
We have been complacent and have let communism creep in over 25 years or longer. Now they’ve stolen the election just as in a communist country. I love AK’s but the honest to God reason I bought my first AK, AR in 2008 is because me and my family are not dying in a camp. I know history and unless we fight for ourselves or our military surprises me and protects this country from globalists, America has been conquered politically and through our infrastructure. We are under N. Korea style propaganda and many American simps just lap it up while they suck their thumbs. Regardless, if it comes to that we’re going out with a bang.
So sad. Finally at 25 becoming somewhat financially stable enough to start buying import AK's, or just guns at all. Now they're being taken away. Knew it was gonna happen right when I needed it the most.
Speaking from experience, they are better than gold or silver and much safer. Over the last 45 years I have never seen the value of firearms or ammo crash.
Yes! Forgot about them. Very nice solid and well built ak. As far as bang for the buck, the fox delivers. The only thing that keeps it sort of out of the running is that it has the puzzle piece or beryl tang and I dont believe its a firearm with true military history.
The 1mm stamped receiver and lack of a bulged trunion was not typical of the the YUGO M70 rifles. Over 15 years ago I bought a YUGO M70 with bulged trunion receiver and 1.5mm receiver. I'm not an expert, but the NPAP was the exception to the rule. The NPAP and OPAP were out around the same time and I went with the less expensive OPAP that still had the bulged trunion and 1.5mm receiver that is the historic YUGO M70 design. While this guy is a bit confused about the history, he is correct that the YUGOM70 / ZASTAVAM70 are the best AK's out there bar none!
Im a bit confused where you're thinking I said the 1mm were typical? I did say that many of the earliest imports were 1mm non bulged trunnions single stack civilian models that were brought in under a myriad of importers before century and zastava struck a deal which is absolutely true. Hell even the origninal zpap was a 1mm non bulged gun until they changed over and over the years, there were many more 1mm receiver guns imported than bulged guns Now as far as military guns go, See my video on the story of the "T". In short, the first m70s to be built for the military were milled receiver rifles. When they decided the milled were too expensive, they developed a 1mm non bulged trunnion rifle but experienced cracked receivers due to grenade launching. As far as the military is concerned, the 1mm receivers were around a very short time. They then developed the 1.5mm bulged receivers which could take the pounding of the grenade launchers that the yugos loved so much. The npap and a ton of earlier civilian paps that have made their way into the states through various importers over the years were just that, civilian models. The majority of military m70s were bulged trunnion guns. Hell, I believe the milled variant was even more prolific than the 1mm stamped guns as far as military rifles. As you said, century brought in both the npaps and opaps. Century also sold many m70s built from kits including the m70ab2 which was a 1.5 bulged underfolder, the m70ab1 fixed stock and the m70ab2T which were built from some of the few 1mm demilled rifle kits (also underfolders). Keep in mind while centurys model designations for their kit guns sometimes followed the military model designations, there were some that the model designations didnt quite jive with the military designations. Watch my other videos on yugo rifles and you will see what im talking about. In short, if you are talking civilian models, there were many more 1mm guns brought into the states than bulged 1.5 guns. If you ar talking military rifles, there were only a very few 1mm guns ever produced which in a weird sort of way makes the century "T" guns kind of rare sorta kinda. Im not confused on the situation at all.
Many many many more to come. If there is something specific you would like revolving around ak's, please let me know. All this useless knowledge rattling around in my head! LOL!
Use the high ammonia windex , then clp or your choice , your fine , i bought some brass cased euro ,it was really corrosive , just do your maintenance.
My 1st ak I bought was a Yugo M70 milled and I found it in a small pawn shop 7 years ago for $260 and the wood stock was cracked and the rifle looked like it was stored in someones attic for years and never cleaned but the chrome lined barrel thankfully still looked brand new after I cleaned it along with a change of furniture and fire control group plus some polishing, it became a great shooter but now she's a safe queen even though I've had some ridiculous offers for it I just can't bring myself to sell it
TO be honest it was never really YUGO even the production started when Yugoslavia still existed Zastava was founded way before yugoslavia and Was always Serbian Company
You can't take it with you...take a good offer and use that money to get something else you really want that you'll actually use. Your logic makes no sense. Sell the damn gun lol.
