So what is the BEST All Purpose Cleaner? In this video we try and test a range of APC from a variety of brands to see which comes out on top when cleaning your car.

Really good video Josh. I enjoy the in depth videos as much as I do the shorter ones, but these in depth ones take the lead for me. I like the varied type tests that you've done, as well as making notable points about certain products that have an impact on the overall tests. Only thing I think missing from this video is Meguiar's D101 All Purpose Cleaner. This product set the bar to some extent and could even be considered a staple as far as APC's go, so it would be interesting to have known how it stood up compared to what the market offers today as per you testing.

Deez C Thank you for your comment and kind words. Meguiar's was definitely on the list of products to test as well as a few others but there were just so many I had to narrow it down the best I could! Literally every brand I know of has an APC in their range but I tried to pick 6 or the video would have taken twice as long and also been too long to watch as I try to condense them best I can to keep people engaged. However my thought process was Autosmart G101 was kind of the 'trade' offering due to it only being available in 5L like Meguiar's is, so I chose to use that one instead, I've never actually tried Meguiar's so I will have to give it a try at some point. Surfex HD is my go to for a degreaser and always use it less than 50/50 for chains etc and it's eco friendly. Does do a great job as an APC. Great value at a 5litre bottle.

Really helpful stuff, thanks! The first I used when I was buying without knowing much about it was W5 and I loved it. Ended up using it on all sorts of stuff around the home too. Since then I’ve used it all up and replaced with Surfex HD and Greenstar and while they’re incredibly powerful and much better at stuff like engine bays, I do find that they have a habit of leaving marks on interiors if I don’t wipe down properly which W5 never did. I thin8 I’m gonna dilute further to maybe 20:1. I will also probably buy some more W5 at some stage but they’re all excellent products.

I enjoyed this video and the range of tests carried out. Surfex HD was also tested on the Forensics Detailing channel and I believe it won the cleaning challenge also.

Great video Josh, looked a good fair test. Must've been a bit of a pain to set up though. Currently using Gtechniq but will definitely get the Bilt Hamber when it runs out. I seem to remember Jon from the Forensic Detailing channel raves about it too. 👍

I love how thorough you are. I'm for sure subscribing! What were the dilutions for the whole test of all chems, 10:1? Also, I would love to see you test snow foams as thorough as you do. Stuff like Sonax Actifoam, Gtechniq W4, Bilt Hamber Auto foam, Koch GSM with a little Green star in it, etc.

Yeah 10:1 on all tests other than the tyre cleaning where I used neat I believe 🤔 it's been awhile since I did it so I can't remember 100% but either way I use the top 3 regularly with zero issues. Hope this helps and thanks for the comment, much appreciated

Result doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Bilt Hamber Surfex HD is ridiculously good for every use and it does foam up well with when used on carpet/roof lining during spot cleaning with an interior brush. Surfex can also be used at the same dilution as Auto-foam and deals with oily stains on the paintwork effortlessly. I actually find a mix of 40ml surfex and 40ml auto-foam mixed up to the 2L mark with water (4% ratio) applied via a pump sprayer creates an super effective pre-wash for when deep cleans are being carried out and protection upkeep isn't a priority. Good work Josh, your best video yet I'd say!

Definitely took a fair bit of work but we got there in the end so it's great to hear people enjoyed it, might have to start and do more videos like this as these seem to be what people want to see! I'll admit though I wasn't a fan of Auto Wash where everyone else seems to rave on it, but everything else I've tried in the Bilt Hamber range has been brilliant.

Unfortunatelly in my country surfex HD costs 18euro/1lt......and 38euro/5lt......plus shipping........ and Green star costs only 5euro/1lt....NO shipping cost............but it is not have bulk 5lt option. In my world................what you suggest to buy??? HD with 18euro/lt.+shipp.............or Green star at 5,5/lt witch is 3-4 times cheaper than HD??? Thanks you sir

Top vid Josh, very thorough! Not tried any of these....Bilt hamber is so competitively priced too! Heard KKD are good too. I use AM Details APC as it's mild, but I do need a stronger degreaser type too - BH for me👍....the hand written labels on your bottles are so neat.....A**

Miles Drive thank you very much mate. I've always used G101 before now but just wanted to see what else was available, as Autosmart seems to be a bit old hat now and not only to make a video but also for my own curiosity. Honestly though BH is phenomenal mate, you seem to use hardly any too which is of course important when we go through so much on cars, I always weigh up the price and quality of products as I'm sure you do, as we need to get the best product but priced competitively. KKD is my go to, 95% of products brand, I use their whole range day to day and absolutely love it, I like the foaming action of the A-Kleen compared to BH so will still use it, BH is a bit overkill for just general grime when most stuff cuts through that no worries, BH for engines, tyres, grease in door shuts 100% though. Apologies for the long comment haha, thanks again for the kind words mate much appreciated.

Hotchkiss Performance comments are never too long mate, so here's a long reply😆. One thing I believe in is supporting each other and sharing info, the best product advice comes from those who use it or have tested it. BH is on my shopping list, KKD I want to explore. Don't use Autosmart.....use to, once upon a time. Some say it's best value, but I want performance aswell as cost & BH is both especially in 5L.

Love the stuff, just ordered another 5ltr....16 quid from their site then delivery...but i ordered from amazon because it's got free del but cost 21 quid??...reason only because i can get it delivered to morrisons at hellaby at the customer services...no worries about not being home and besides it won't fit through mi letter box...lol....what do usually dilute down to regarding interior plastics around screens Josh?....

S Mason you're very welcome and thanks for watching. Dilution ratios are extremely broad and it all depends on the level of soiling you'll be tackling, neat for heavy de-greasing capabilities such as tyres and engine bay cleaning. 10:1 for general soiling but will still be potent enough to tackle the majority of work. You can dilute these products up to 100:1 or 1% product to water for very light soiling as they are super concentrated products. General rule I go for is 10:1 for the work I tackle, hope this helps :) thanks again

Loved the vid Josh - damn you Brits! - SurfexHD in Aus is $25 pounds for 1ltr bottle! - No KKD.. No Koch.. Gtechniq is too expensive also - Leaves only G101 as our only option!

G101 is still a great product and I've used it for years now and it's never failed me, it was only really my own curiosity that got me to do this video to see if there was much difference at all in these APC's and I was surprised that G101 was edged by the others.

try some of the megs apc and super degreaser cheap as, and lasts for ages i use the apc 10:1 for cloth seats and 4:1 for really mucky stuff like tyres, super degreaser on really mucky leather i will mix at 7:1 and 4:1 for engine bays and wheel arches.

Simple Wax I have used G101 now for years and I thought it was the best there was, but then I thought I'd just give some other APC's a try for my own curiosity aswell as for a good video, I can honestly say when G101 runs out I will say goodbye to an old friend and use KKD or Bilt Hamber from then on.
