At the end of the day as long as it’s not a ruroc and it fits, that’s what matters. Just not the pista rrrrrrr as well 😂 that thing sucks for the price feature wise compared to the others
@@Unmethicated Pista R seems super overrated and overkill for the road. I get it, it looks super dope, but I’m not going to spend $2g’s on a helmet just to flex.
@@melvinlopez9248 it’s just typical Italian overpriced things. Like come on agv, make a visor mechanism that actually stays up in multiple positions… if 100$ can no reason a 2k helmet can’t. And why do people still need to use butt plugs for the vents? Shoei, arai, hjc etc etc top of the line helmets actually have designed vents. From memory non comms compatible as well
@@Unmethicated that's because is not made for road use, that helmet is a racing replica whitch means is made only for the track. Just because an helmet is beautiful and expensive doesn't mean that is good for every scenario. When you are on the track you don't use your helmet with the open visor, if you open the visor you are not racing and that is the reason for that visor mechanism. For road use go with the K6 S which was made for that purpose. Believe me you won't see any italian using a Pista GP RR on regular streets.
I have an AGV K6 and I’ve been eyeing the KYT TT Course. How does yours fit? Tight or comfortable? I bite my cheeks with the size S but the size M wiggles. My AGV K6 used to fit just right. It after washing the pads 5+ times it started to wiggle.
@azureenterprises4070 based on reviews, I sized up from small to medium for the KYT and it was the right decision. It's snug, and I did bite my cheeks the first couple times wearing it but it's worn in now and that's no longer an issue
@@bernardoberner4 no but some years ago a friend of mine had them, they were the worst of the top tier helmets, not that bad, just strange to see them in MotoGp
Honestly my favourite brand has to be Alpinestars even though they only have one road helmet. It's just so damn sleek, FIM certified, comfortable and safe. Can't go wrong with it. Arai being a close second with Shoei in third. AGV is a great brand too I have the K1-S which was my second helmet.
I also love my Hayden Reset Arai Corsair X helmets. One of the best looking graphics on a helmet of any manufacturer!! My 2nd favorite helmet of all time is my Shoei Rich Oliver replica!! Beautiful graphic with the P51 Mustang fighter plane. My Shoei Multitec came in handy during Summer rides in Arizona when I lived there. Easy to operate during gas stops and red light traffic stops.
So far i've owned the x14, x15, pista, and the r10. To me the R10 is a better fit version of the x15 but the vision and weight of the pista. It's also been quieter than the x15 and i can listen to music more clearly. And it kinda feels like a fishbowl feeling when you put it on from the pressure since it wants to cup under your jaw. But when it's actually on, it does remind me of the x15 but more comfortable. So far my favorite daily riding helmet thus far
The Pista is popular for a reason. It’s light, it’s effortless in the wind, disappears, you can tailor fit the interior to your head. It arguably looks the best competing w the R10. It’s only negative is that it’s noisy, but most are and it’s a race helmet. People also complain the visor doesn’t stay open. But it’s a race helmet, you don’t race w a visor up and it stays open up to about 25mph then you can shut it without using your hands which for me is a huge plus. I like the Shoie X15 as well. Nice vid.
Nop in fact pista popular bicause rossi wear it, but now its different story.I mean if u compare it side by side with KX 1 in detail, u will realized that pista wasnt worth the money anymore, except it has rossi replica on it, their technology is geting old 😉
@@imortal458 You missed my point, Rossi hasnt raced for several years. It's not getting old yet, the Pista was so far ahead, others had to catch up. What special technology does the X15 or R10 have that make the Pista less safe or obsolete in a racing helmet. Peeple don't buy a $1500 helmet because someone wears it. Peco is wearing a Suomy and Marc wears Shoei and most people dgaf...they buy the Pista because it really is a great helmet and really does look good. You don't think it's worth the price or that it looks good, don't buy it, get an Icon or KYT, but the sales don't lie and it's popularity speaks for itself, not your comparison to a KX1... I got two Pistas and love it when I buy another helmet this year, I'll consider another Pista in the mix.
Shoei gt air 2 here. Had an hjc for years and the difference is night and day! Comfort, quality and aerodynamics are sooo much better! I can turn my head at speed and not feel like I’m going to fly off the bike!
Just got my shark race r pro gp, absolutely love it for the street and still have yet to take it on the track. It is SUPER quiet and is really light, with great stability from the spoiler, highly recommend
Riding without ear plugs is wild 😳 Rode from RI to NJ 2 weeks ago. IMPOSSIBLE to do without ear plugs. Too much wind noise and loud exhaust for a 5hr ride. Idc if I can barely hear my music. I rather save my hearing.
It's crazy to me to see that the X-Fifteen is more expensive than the price in Japan, for that MARQUEZ MOTEGI 4 helmet, with tax in Japan costs 96,800 Yen which is about $621.71 (as of June 4th 2024) I guess it kinda makes sense, seeing as Shoei is manufactured in Japan so they probably don't charge an additional fee for distributers that are local vs the rest of the world. When i saw the prices of the KX 1 in Japan, they were significantly more than the X-Fifteen
Yep ..Transitions lens why I got a Bell Star Carbon 10yrs ago... year 8 the photochrome started going brown and less active....but yes - total game changer. If the current Bell Helmets had DETENTS in the lens like everyone else id stay Bell. If AGV Pista would get Photochrome lens Id go AGV. Prolly gonna go white SR10 for street with photochrome lens and black big spoiler.
I have KYT RACE Z, SHOEI X15, SHARK AERON GP KYT is light but air flow is super bad, feel 0 air on head, used 2 times then sold. creek is usually sweating. Shoei is a bit heavy, after wearing my neck got pain. the air flow is just ok, material is comfortable, noise control is excellent. Shark is light, air flow is strong, feel very cold on head, material is good. The vision is utmost wide. If only 1 helmet to choose, Shark AERON GP.
My first helmet was a Shark, I crashed my first bike and sold that helmet (no damage to the helmet for those wondering.) When I went to buy my second helmet, I was going to buy another Shark but the guy at the store was like "those are crap...get an Arai!". I never knew the reason why Arai was shaped the way they are. I ended up buying a Arai Profile-V. It was a super comfortable helmet. I crashed in it twice, the second time my head slid along the ground. It did its job! =D. Then I bought a Pista GP RR 'Iridium' and I got the Red visor. It looked great and I got ALOT of positive comments. When I first got it though, it pinched the side of my head/ear, so I compressed the foam. Probably not meant to do that but it worked! Haha. If I had my time again, my advice to any new rider is to save and get a top of the line helmet. You only get one brain.
I can not stress this enough… Shoei X15 saved my head and life. Genuinely feel like my Arai Regent-X, Shoei RF-1200, or Sedici Strada II would have worked anywhere near as good in my wreck. Sucks I wrecked but I’m glad I was wearing my X15… but that’s just from my experience
Honestly all those on the table have the credentials to save your head. If they use it in MotoGP, you know it’s been tested, because those dudes are always falling plus the requirements for safety are much higher.
My favourite helmets are 1. AGV K-5S (buttery smooth and quiet) 2. Scorpion R1 Air (best fit for me, super light, have both carbon and regular) 3. Sheoi RF-1400 ( great all round quality experience). 4. Sena Momentum Evo 2 (underated, best built in comms.). Not yet had an Arai - plan to get one still and expect it to be competitive. Middleweight Sport Bike Rider on street. Icon helmets are fun if noisy. Shark and HJC solid entry to mid range - slight edge to Shark for me. Biggest disappointment for me has been Nolan.
I own 3 icon helmets, on one it protected me on a fall i had years ago after that i trusted icon or else i wouldnt be alive. Being that helmets have an expiration date on them which its usually 5 years i changed to NEXX helmets. I love mine alot of people dont know about NEXX helmets they are really comfortable helmets with low noise an i like their chin straps. I just bought fabio quartararo helmet series from Scorpion which their adapting air pump chin adjustment is different. I cant do AGV or alphinestar not because of social media but by doing research their is better helmets at a better price with better safety standards.
All my helmets are, Arai or Shoei ... i just went out on a limb and tried a KYT nz race cause of the I ❤Salva rep. And how much praise and irresistible price Im going to try a Suomy Bagnaia as i have this thing for collecting rep. helmets
That whole line up, EXPENSIVE.. first thing I said before you guys got into to it .. been riding for 20 yrs .. I know these brands , cycle world ads ,dealership visits... Not gonna HJC make great helmets. Im rocking a Icon airflite .. super comfy ..
I have AGV Pista GPrr , Shark race pro , Scorpion BS energy , AGV K6 , Axor Carbon , SMK and few more - 12 helmets collection, Best I like AGV Pista GP RR Carbon to wear ❤
I got gifted once I purchased my H2 the same glossy carbon as your kyt but with Suomy SR-GP there super light and the vision on this helmets are on point
Suomy have been around forever but never fit me well. I wear a Schubert’s SR1 for the last 2 years but will probably get a X-fifteen. The Arai shape unfortunately doesn’t work for me which is too bad.
These are nice but I really like my Shark Spartan GT Pro for 499. Somewhat light, fits nice and snug but comfortable, has good ventilation and an awesome visor mechanism.
As someone with a gigantic noggin, I would truly appreciate some insight on full face helmets that are actually big. I've tried many 3xl and 4xl that are a joke.
Helmet comfort is so dependant on head shape and pressure points. I tried a bunch of different brands at a local shop (shoutout to 613motorsports) and HJC was the only lid that didn’t cause discomfort after 5 minutes ( when wearing the proper size). I went in looking at a Shoei or AGV but not matter what HJC was the only comfortable helmet. The Rpha 11 met my price point and had some cool colourways and colabs. Have someone measure your head correctly, try out a few brands and try moving your head up/down and left/right once fitted. You shouldn’t be able to slide around. Your only have one noggin so if you’re going to splurge on gear, this is the one.
For a shop to stock that many top tier helmets is simply AWESOME!!!! I have never been in a shop in years that has that many in stock of the top helmets!!! I gotta get down there to try on all brands!! What are the main differences between a "Race" or "Street" helmet?? I have worn Arai Corsair (RX7RR) for the last 30 years....have a LARGE collection of them due to the 4-5 year replacement rules...but everytime I try a different helmet, the interiors just seem cheap in comparison...except for Shoei...I did have an X-9 Russell that I LOVED but unfortunately crashed in.
For me for starters, the helmet has to be made in its own manufacturing plant, and if I can help it likely not Chinese. Exception would be LS2 for the price point. however, I still mostly go to my shoei
Head is 58cm got the new pista in M kinda pissed the fit is so tight it hurts my ears to put in cardo speakers, fit is amazing without the speakers though
My first helmet was a HJC didn’t like it. went and got myself a shoei rf-sr great helmet quiet. Just bought a scorpion today took it for a ride today, lighter than my shoei and just barely slightly more loud than my shoei but, the fit is actually better. My face got fatter over the winter so I had to look for a new helmet cause pads for my shoei were on back order and I got the scorpion for 130 😊
Shoei always best honestly. I love my HJC and AGV but shoei has the best fitment and hardly wind noise. HJC is best for first timers not too pricey for overall but shoei is bit pricey but man they best overall. AGV best looking helmet ever. ARAI best safety not matter what. Also with Arai to add on and shoei they have different factories to double check the helmet so they don't get complacent with just throwing out helmets to the public. They have 2 different people to sign the helmets to check them which is awesome.
Ruroc for sure is not ur bet. I knew the. For ski and snowboard helmets but its cuz they looked so cool. Never looking into the saftey. For ski and snowboard they say wearing one is better than not. Knowing what i know now, i would never put something on to protect myself if i cant trust it will do its job.
This is a great chat. Thanks for sharing. I’ve purchased like 7 helmets and was never offered to measure my head. I want to know my head shape and size so I’ll be visiting a store again soon. Can you ask Chris where he gets his personal leathers for the track? I’d also like to know which helmet is the closest to air conditioning when it comes with cooling? I’ll deal with the noise. Thanks FLD 🤙
The arai is the only helmet that fits my stupidly round head, and bonus points it's safe. I wanna try out KYT but I'm afraid it's gonna squeeze my head too much on the sides and the closest dealer to me is 3 hours away
Remember riders if u get into a accident with a cadge vehicle and it’s there fault u can claim all ur riding gear under there insurance so keep the receipts from ur gear that u buy and and take pics of it. Ride safe yall❤️
Arai No.1 and then Shoei, Pista best looking heltems and Shark good allround helmets. I have Scorpion R1 and old X lite X802 which i like way more, but R1 is cheaper.
I've got 1 and it's fantastic for street use on my naked, also great in a tuck. I took a bird to the head/face at 90mph last weekend and the helmet still shows flawless.
No love for Nolan/X-Lite probably because no US distributors, but I love my new X804RR. The A-Stars R10 will take the crown as the new influencer lid lol.
