Looks like you installed and test fired VG6 Epsilon with it mounted upside down. These devices are mounted with the pin hole for those needing to pin & weld at the 6 o clock position on the barrel. The slotted longitudinal ports face upwards and are timed at around the 11 & 1 o' clock positions. The way it was mounted for the testing, you probably had were getting a bit of the gas from the slots blasting the bench and tracking rearward. This version has teh longer flash tines over the original Epsilon, which I have 3 of. There is some concessive blast, but it's no nearly as bad as other devices out there. Also if you can find the original C.A.G.E. devices that use to be offered for the Epsilon makes a huge difference in the side concussion. Running doubles and triples the gun just tracks with the Epsilon.
The A2 flash hider was mentioned. It's cheap and it works awesomely and you can't own one in several states like NJ where I unfortunately reside at this time. We can have compensators but no suppressors so we can go simple. I went with a Micaluk 3 chamber which is pretty reasonably priced. Turns a 223 into a 22lr in regards to recoil. Half of these designs shown are overpriced versions. In all honesty a 10 dollar A2 will do the trick and is probably the lightest of the lot.
You gave that Epsilon an 8 with it upside down. Install it like the directions tell you and it might get a 10. I know you would think the logo goes up.
I would really love to see a follow up on this video. I was considering purchasing the Surefire warcomp but it was a little pricey. Then my next possible purchase was the SOLGW NOX which is a little less spendy, but I finally settled on the ZEV Technologies muzzle device because they marked it down from $79 to $29 dollars on their website. I figured for that price, if it performs anywhere near the warcomp, then it's worth the money. If it doesn't, then I'm not out a wholeass stack of cash. I'm still waiting for it to be shipped so I can't yet report on it's performance. I would love to see it included in the contest, and how it compares to the ones I previously mentioned. Let's get this series going again guys!
@@At3tactical Thanks for the response! I very much appreciate it. I'm a new subscriber to your channel, and I think you guys genuinely have something to offer to the firearms community here on youtube. I have become aware of your company through your videos, and I will be supporting your company with my purchases in the near future.
I would like to see some content on cool looking but functional muzzle devices. Because if it don't look cool. You get the gist of it. However I would have like to see some tanker and mini tanker brakes added to that list.
Seems like a lot of educated people in the comments. Can I put a VG6 gamma 5.56 on a 7.5 inch barrel? Read an article searching for answers, it’s optimized to efficiently utilize gas from the muzzle on 10.5-18.5”. So does that mean it’s not good enough or unfit for 7.5” barrels?
I have an ultradyne X1 RH and the offset ports make it a bit nicer to use than the apollo max. Definitely can't sit by the shooter without getting slapped by either.
Bling is the purpose of nearly every muzzle device I have seen. When the gun doesn't kick the only purpose of a muzzle device is eye candy for social standing. I like the flash can to reduce the flash in the night scope. To test a muzzle break get a cartridge that has a notable recoil.
If you shoot in National Match Service Rifle competition, you will appreciate the standard A2 birdcage muzzle device. It is closed on the bottom. There isn't much recoil to mitigate, but it sure prevents dust and sand from being blown all over everyone with every shot in the prone portion of the competition.
7.62 count? I have one on my 12 gauge, it works well. If it works for high recoil round, in theory it should also work in a low recoil/high pressure round.
Like when judging a scope you have to judge "viewing experience" bc glass alone isnt enough, you have coating, etc etc. When judging a muzzle brake you have to judge "shooting experience" Gas in my face is an UNPLEASURABLE experience, period. The Apollo Max has been called the flatest shooting brake for a while, but the gas is a killer. Id take 10% more rise if they got rid of the blow back. Just one mans opinion
Unfortunately im in California and looking for the best option for noise reduction at my local indoor range. Any suggestions besides leaving California? Lol
I have one on my rifle. Dropped nearly all the recoil off my gun. It does blow some concussion back at you, which I fixed with an Indian Creek Design blast forward shield.
My firearm hobby took a backseat to reef tanks due to costs of both. I need Randy's ways to teach me how to make my reef tank hobby take a back seat to firearms! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pretty sure I'll wind up having one of those Apollo Max brakes in the home armory. It just stays so flat on follow up shots, but that said, "mission" is the right answer here. General shooting, hunting, etc... What's the goal for my AR10, because that's what will ultimately lead me to the right tool for the right job.
I want a muzzle brake for my .308 12.5". I am interesting for the apollo max but I don't want to get blast for the short barrel. Any other muzzle brake good for my 12.5" and still reduce recoil?
