You don't have any idea how helpful this video is!! I have been watching lots of videos of people gelli printing, but just started, myself, yesterday. I was very frustrated by lines, poor coverage, uncertainty, et cetera, wondering why people love this so much. From you, I have now learned about the varieties and vagaries of the process: differences in paint types, how much paint, how to effectively use stencils, brayering for no lines...Wow! I feel invigorated, and am going back in. Thanks, so much, for the basics.
Thankx for The information Carolyn on how to use acrylic paints on the gel press .I just bought paints to get started learning how to use it. I am brand new to this craft.
SOMEHOW I'd never heard of using packing tape to clear up a gelli plate. I had crusted bits along the sides I wasn't able to pick up for anything with extra paint pulls, used this trick this morning, and lo! It is an amazing trick.
Carolyn that’s so helpful and useful.....you explain things so well. I’ve only had my Gelli Plate since Christmas 🎄 so I’m learning so much from you and others I’ve watched. Thank you so much xx Mags
Hi Carolyn I am new to your channel and to gelliplate printing (bought one last week!) Thank you so much for posting this tutorial! You explained everything really well :-)
great info, best ever! I had questions about the brayer lines and now I love them but will lighten my touch to lessen those lines if that’s my desire. 🦌💌❤️📚
That was neat to watch the packing tape peel off and look pretty. =) Cool Video. =) Thank you. (I don't have a gelli plate, but this is still interesting). ;)
Thanks a lot for all this knowlegde! The only thing I would have preferred, would have been a monochrome background (best in white) under the gelli plate. But I got the point anyway! :-)
Carolyn, I appreciate this great tutorial, it's very thorough! One question for you: I was surprised at how fluid that Americana green is in this video, so for those who might not be able to afford the more fluid paints like Golden open, in your experience with the less expensive craft paints, do you feel that Americana is the most fluid? Thanks!
Hi, thanks for sharing this. I have sometimes found that my paper tears and stick to gel as i lift it and im wondering if that could be the paint, amount of paint or the paper causing it. Im using copy paper when it happens. Thanks
Hello hace you tryed neopaque or luminuere from jacquard they have. a medium extender do you recomend yo make nthem more liquid use the medium thanks..
Help! Do you know if the Arteza acrylic premium paint is good for working with the gelli plate? I never used a gelli plate before and I don't know if they will work or not. Some people say they will, some say they spread around in a bad way and dry much to quick. I would so appreciate some advice on this subject. Kind regards, Karin from the Netherlands.
Great video! Have you tried Atelier Interactive acrylic paints? They are really interesting. You can rewet them with an "unlocking formula" or water. Right now, they are sending samples to folks who ask. No affiliation, but I do like them quite a lot. They are artist grade, but they cost a little less than the Golden. I'd love to know what you think.
Carolyn Dube I ordered the test set, and they sent 2 large (80ml) tubes in titanium white and phthalo blue, plus a bottle of unlocking formula. I was stunned and overjoyed. I can't wait to hear what you think of them. www.atelieracrylic.com/request-a-free-test-kit
