do the ads, you put to much effort into this channel to not earn what you can. I feel the brand comparison tests are highly important. Great job bothering to show us how the material shows up. ( and the " 2 holes" on the spool... What are these guys thinking, its a simple issue to correct and so annoying problem , I know its nit picky but still)

Great video Igor. I’m surprised how “early” all of the filaments were affected by heat. Most of my objects last until about 75°C but I’m typically printing with very high infill percentage (in the 40-60% range).

Excellent work as always. Thank you. 80% of my prints are done with ASA, I have standardized on PolyLite (based on your earlier tests) and have been really happy with the consistency. I used to used mostly PETG but have found when parts were dropped PETG would break. My parts are used in rugged terrain and in the ocean so they get a lot of abuse. I’m much happier with ASA.

@KP-ty9yl 2 месяца назад
@@berlinberlin4246 From his tests I really like the BambuLab, it seems to be the best all-arounder, but even the inexpensive Kingroon ASA from Amazon has worked alright. ASA in general has weaker layer adhesion than PLA so certain models designed for PLA may seem weak. But that is the tradeoff for better impact resistance and heat resistance. Definitely keep the chamber temps high and go slow to maximize the layer adhesion and reduce warping :)

VoxlePLA is pretty popular here in the US. Their PETG (white in my case) had to be printed at 270C (nozzle temp); when I asked the reason many in reddit said this was because PETG needs such temperatures and others said it was because they may use virgin raw materials instead of recycled. Both reasons didn’t make much sense to me. The one I tested was white, very white. The issues I had may have been due to a big load of TiO2 in the mix, who knows.

I enjoy your videos, watch almost all of them, and think you should enable ads. I’m subscribed but don’t click the bell on any channel I’m subscribed to. I print with PLA, PVB, PETG, ASA, TPU, and PC. When I choose the material to use for a given print I know that any filament I use of that type will be good enough for the print’s intended purpose. I watch your testing videos out of general curiosity but they do not inform my buying decisions. I don’t need the strongest/toughest filament of a particular type…I pick the specific filament based on aesthetics, what I have on hand, experience with a given manufacturer, and price knowing that the chosen filament will be good enough. This is probably a terrible analogy but that’s never stopped me before. 😆 To me filament is like shoelaces. Do I need to research the strongest shoelaces before buying? No, because any shoelace will be good enough to keep a shoe on my foot. I might watch a shoelace testing video out of curiosity or because it looked entertaining but not because I need the pinnacle of shoelace material science. My point is, extrapolating from a single data point (me), that your lower-than-desired view counts could be because few people need ultimate PETG (or whatever) performance. You’re an engineer and you’re doing what you do and you should keep doing that if you enjoy it. There are thousands of people who enjoy your videos (myself included) which is pretty cool IMO.

My favorite PETG is still PLA+ 😅 It permanently creeps under (too much) load and withstands a little less heat, but is easier to print and often has better layer adhesion. If ABS wasn't such PITA with open printer, it might be my favorite PETG 😉

I very much like these kinds of comparison videos. Please do more of them, there are so many filament manufacturers out there and all kinds of marketing names for the same type of filament (like Basic, Pro, Plus, Meta etc. etc.) that it's hard to know what would be the best choice for me in a real life situation. Sure there are datasheets available from most manufacturers but I don't trust them. Who knows if they're accurate for each and every spool... BTW. Personally I would like to see a PCTG filament comparison. Filalab has some very affordable (circa 25€ per kg) PCTG, I bought some, and it really seems like a big improvement over PETG especially in layer adhesion, but is just as easy to print! I'm surprised it hasn't become more popular.

Just a note that, in my experience, printing inside an enclosure with opened doors is somewhere 'in between' printing entirely without an enclosure, and printing with a closed one. Even with open doors it maintains about 5-10 degrees Celsius higher than the room. After all, it's still enclosed on 5 sides.

Very useful info. Thank you for this. I printed some parts in Creality ABS recently (for heat resist), but found layer adhesion abmismally poor. I reprinted the same parts in Polylite PETG just to check I wasn't going nuts, and those parts turned out much stronger in layer adhesion. Your tests shows me that maybe Creality adds something to their filaments to make it easier to print, but really affects layer adhesion. Anyway, it also shows me I should've bought Hatchbox or Eryone! haha. Anyway, I would be quite interested in the same test in ABS, since I would be then able to completely validate my own findings between Creality ABS and Polylite PETG for layer adhesion.

I am very curious how the different PETG brands with the same color (e.g. black) would perform with their optimal settings.
