With the recent passing of the oldest conjoined twins, do you think you could do a video on preparing conjoined twins for burial?

Reminds me of the "Eterrna Rest Casket Bed" commercial skit from "Saturday Night Live" that conforms to the deceased even as they decompose.

Anymore since the Covid, it's been a one day viewing and same day funeral Mass and burial. Gone are the 3 day Viewings with 2 showings on the 1st and 2nd days. This probably saves on formaldehyde strengths too.

Good subject. Less expensive caskets have no beds that rise or tilt. The filling of the casket bed can be excelsior or wood shavings, or shredded newspaper covered with a satin like material. More work is involved at positioning while casketing, but can still provide the same effect.

I have seen some oversized people look like they were too snuggly fitting in a casket where some of the stuff inside had to be removed. I imagine the body was on the casket bed itself. These folks were over 300lbs or more. They were so far down into the casket, the viewers had to look down into the casket. The family had to buy two burial plots because the special design casket took up more than one burial plot. I did not know that there were so many parts to a casket. Very interesting and educational!

My brother used to work at a funeral home and he said sometimes when he was taking a break he would lay in a coffin to rest. He said some of them were the most comfortable things he ever layed in. Unfortunately he is now truly resting in one. Love and miss you very much Dennis. 😢😢

Funeral homes offer services and products to help families honor their loved ones who have passed away. One of the most significant purchases for a funeral is the casket. It is an essential part of the funeral service, and families want to ensure that their loved one is laid to rest in a comfortable and dignified manner. However, funeral costs can quickly add up, and families may feel overwhelmed with the expenses. That is why funeral homes should offer comfy caskets at a reasonable price. Not only does it show compassion and understanding towards grieving families, but it also makes practical business sense. A funeral home's main goal should be to provide quality services and products while being mindful of the cost. By offering comfortable caskets at a reasonable price, funeral homes can create a positive reputation and build trust with their clients. Ultimately, it is a win-win situation as families can honor their loved ones without breaking the bank, and funeral homes can make a profit through a fair and compassionate approach. After all, in the funeral industry, it is not just about selling products; it is about providing comfort and support during one of life's most challenging moments.

Just curious. Could the decease request their own pillow to be buried with them or cremated with? My grandma and grandpa were both cremated with quilts grandma hand made, so I was just wondering why not your favorite pillow.

This is what is not discussed when you are deep in grief. When I was sent a bogo burial plot I was looking about caskets and really looking at how they are made. My thoughts are I’m not paying that much money and even though I won’t feel it I want comfort! So I really look at how they are made so I lift the material and I see 3 straps. At this point I’m not liking this. I want to be laid in something that has cushion. So I look at the handles and they are very hard plastic. Not liking this. When I’m gone I want atleast 2 inches of cushion and real handles. So I went on Titan caskets looking at prices. So the one I saw was $1500 and then their is one for $2000. So it’s best to shop around now rather then later.

Do they make the insides of these caskets leak proof? What happens to those metal support slats and springs and the bottom of those metal or wood caskets when the body breaks down and starts leaking digestive juices etc.? Will it eat through the casket in time and cause problems for that preservation and eternal repose?

Batesville is one of numerous "Metal Casket" Manufacturers. Normally Metal Caskets are carefully and "Seamlessly" welded together. The interior surfaces of the casket - along with the "Lid" are sprayed with a Protective Coating prior to the frilly Velour / Velvet interior being positioned into place along with the "Mattress" and "Pillow". The Protective Coating is intended to Prevent The Contained Oxygen from causing "corrosion". Copper and Bronze Burial Caskets are semi-precious Metal. These are of course, NOT Suitable for Cremation. Historical Artifacts made from Copper have been known to last thousands of years. Definitely not, a Casket for Budget-Conscious Consumers. Unless an individual held a "Generous" Life Insurance Policy or perhaps chose to pre-fund their burial requirements in Advance.

Yes the body will break down and decompose and yes there are fluids from that process. They will saturate the interior of the casket and possibly cause rust and holes in the metal casket and will cause warping of the wooden casket

@@KaritheMortician Thank you. And the old adage of "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" remains in effect but there are some exceptions like some incorrupt bodies of certain Saints like St Bernadette Soubarous at Lourdes, France.

My guess is yes, but would it look pleasing to the eyes of people viewing? Pillows in caskets are designed to support or raise the upper body & coordinate with the casket's color. Pillows in caskets are larger than a standard/king bed pillow. It's all about aesthetics for the families & viewers, not the deceased.
