In this video I use new and old data to discuss what Torque settings to tighten your wheel nuts for the safety but also so that you can undo the thing if you need to with hand tools, and in tough situations like on the side of a road after a puncture.

Consider different tightening torque for aluminum and steel wheels, they are specified differently. Like your videos.😊

just torque them to the makers recommendation, they might use different tensile strength bolts than other manufactures.

Good point but I am experimenting to help people to find the best Torque to tighten and later take the nuts and bolts off with normal tools stored in cars.

My Peugeot 206 1.4 16v 2005 has it at 90nm. That always seemed low but they are holding well.

I just use the torque specs from my car's service manual. It specifies 130nm... I torque them to 130nm. That's roughly 10 ugga-duggas on the electronic impact scale, 5 on the pneumatic.

I think it is possible to undo a bolt set at 130nm using the car's standard wrench on a road side, especially if someone is hammering the wrench or jumping on it, but 150nm, I don't think so without a 5lb hammer or a brick.

@@EducationPineapple yeah - It's doable. I've had to use a fairly short tyre iron before to do a tyre change... Took a fair amount of jumping on that sucker 'cause I'm a twig bit I got it! lol

Make sure you have a reasonable brand for the torque wrench like Draper...always listen the screw at the bottom after finishing a job to keep the tool accurate for the next time.
