Leather patches are a universally adored way to show off your best designs. Because leather marries so well with other materials or placements, you can make your logo stand out and stand tall against the competition. We create leather patches based on one of two methods.
Our first method is known as heat-press stamps. Stamps place your design onto the leather by burning the design into the material. We can either make the design embossed or debossed. These two methods simply determine whether the design will be elevated or depressed into the leather. whichever way you press the design in, the lower level of the material will appear darker because the heat burns the leather without excess damage.
Laser engraved leather is exactly what the name implies. Instead of creating a full stamp, we place your design into a laser that applies the design directly to the material. Laser engravings don't apply as deeply as a heat stamp does, so there won't be as much of an indentation of your design. However, engraving is ideal for smaller more intricate logos or if you are working with a smaller patch size.

Why is it not recommended to use a heat cap press on Debossed leather patches ? Thank you

We recommend avoiding heat presses on leather mainly because the design is created by using a heat stamp to burn your design into the material. Reapplying too much heat could burn the leather again and potentially mess up your design. This is why we recommend sewing leather patches instead. If you absolutely have to iron them on, make sure to use either wax paper or a cloth on the front of the patch to prevent the patch from overheating. If possible to only apply heating to the back of the hat, that would be a preferred method too!
