Interlaced video is still used for broadcast. The motion will look better at 1080i than 1080p 30. 1080 p at 60 frames per second will look smooth but it requires to much band width for broadcasting. 720P at 60 frames per second is broadcast compliant.

Exactly.

interlace will be a thing of the past (in the US of course), because ATSC 3.0 will allow 4K UHD progressive (up to 120 fps/Hz) on broadcast television. No more interlace combing on progressive display.

@@mdo7 I am hip to ATSC 3.0 but that is not what the video is about. Your post should be a stand alone post instead of a response to my post.

@@TechTVusa What's wrong with the way I responded to you. Bud, if you're going to be on RU-vid leaving comments on a video, you got to expect people responding to your comments even slightly off-topic (even if the comment you made was 2 years ago). I don't see why you would be upset over my reply to you mentioning ATSC 3.0. I saw your comment and I thought "why not mention ATSC 3.0 to you and AKIO TV". No harm was done to you.

@@mdo7 The video was about interlacing not broadcast standards like Pal, NTSC, SECAM, ATSC. I stated why interlacing was used. Everyone knows technology will change and I agree interlacing will be a thing of the past eventually but that is not what the video was about. That being said why not start a new thread as opposed to commenting on a thread that is over two years old? What if my post was six years old? I agree with what you posted but starting a new post would have been better instead of responding to an old post.

Thanks for the video, sir! Please, could I make a asking? If LCD's do not handle interlaced, what happens when we play a playstation 2 game that is 480i, using a LCD TV? Thanks in advance for any clues :)

In that case, the TV has some built-in electronics that convert the interlaced video into progressive video. That process is called "deinterlacing".
