@@JesseSpec they work great. I love the meaty look. And it protects the wheel better too. 9.5 would have fit but if I dropped an inch with coil overs in the future, I might have needed to roll my fenders or adjust my camber. The STI already comes with -1.7 degrees of camber.
I’m a bit late to the conversation but, have been running TC105X in 9.5x18 et38 in Australia for almost 2 years now. I run 255/35R18 Yoko V105 on the road and ran 265/35R18 Yoko 052 for track. I did get some rubbing at the rear with the 052 265s, even with -2.5 camber, and this would be better with an et45 offset. I have no rub at all at the front with -3.0 camber on the 052 265s. The V105 255s have no rub at all in any alignment. I also have a set of TWS T66-F forged wheels in 9.5x18 et 40. I’ve chosen to run 255/35R18 RE71RS on these to avoid rubbing. Last point to consider is competition rules. Some modified production classes say you can only run +1 inch wheels over OEM. If I knew that before buying mine I would have stayed with the 9s. 9.5 with 052 265 look the best by far with the car lowered 30mm.
Hi! Thanks for your extensive input! Very interesting. I have been using 255 on my 18x9.5 +45 Setup and I really like it. Even if it comes a bit close to the suspension strutt...
Thanks Milos! I figured some people would have liked it in English 😂 For some reason on the Hanshin-Imports French version, RU-vid doesn’t not allow me to auto-translate the content! 🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻
I run the tc105x 18x9.5 with AR-1 265 tyres and also the forged version in 18x8.5 +43 with CR-S 235 tyres. I think 9.5 with 265 is overkill for most as you will struggle to get tyres up to temp. The other consideration is the weight of the tyres which go up very quickly with increased width.
Hi, excellent! Thanks for the input. I was thinking 9.5s on 255 or even 245 with a stretch hahaha what do you think? It might look a bit dumb on 245…. 😂
Also keep in mind reduced strut clearance which can be an issue if you want more camber. Which tyre are you looking at? Willtheyfit is a good site to compare sizes.
@@adrianfairfield5520 hi, thanks for the comment. I am working with Yokohama so for street I would use the new Ad09, track would be a052 but I might even go with Yoko slicks this year depending on what races I do. I don’t plan to goo too wide 255 on a 9.5 or 245 on a 9…
@@JesseSpec ok great. Great tyres. The A052 is on the GRMN yaris. A050 very popular control tyre for racing here. Fast tyre in soft compound with short life. I went with nankang optiond due to price and availability but you can probably get a good deal.😂
Hey buddy! Thank you and hello from Switzerland 🇨🇭! To be honest, I tried 17inch wheels from wedssport to test fit them (close to stock width and offset and on the front it didn’t work)
Personally I like 18"x9"+45 offset with 245/35 R18 tyres, though it's harder to find good lightweight, flow formed wheels in that size. The Wedssport TC105X wheels look like an excellent option and look good
Great video. How much negative camber can you get when running a 9.5 on the front, without conflicting with the strut plus a bit of wriggle room? I'm looking to upgrade the stock BBS but I want to preserve the ability to run up to 3.5 degrees w/255 tyre.
Hi, Thanks for your comment. I honestly think that should fit. I know guys running the same wheel setup with 265 and with 2-3° negative camber. It should work fine. How do you adjust your camber on your car?
Hi, thanks for your comment. I got the Circuit Pack (you can see my video I made about it). And yes of course I have my mrs 😊👍🏼 I was waiting for exhaust parts so I will be making that soon 👍🏼
9.5 all round in my opinion. To my untrained eye the rear looks like they would swallow 10" wide but then again what do I know 😅 Nevertheless, the TC105X look beautiful 😍 Great choice Jesse. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Xmas.
Hey Man! Thanks for your comment 🙏🏻👍🏼The arches are very wide yes. But I think its in front where it will rub on the inside/suspension. You too, all the best for 2023 and merry Christmas ❄️❄️❄️
Great video! Really informative! I am also interested to know what’s the maximum and minimum camber degree we can set up for front and rear if we are running 18x9.5 with et45 and with 255 tyre (say ad09) on GR Yaris? That’s the size I plan to run but want to make sure the camber can be flexible enough for both road and track use (e.g. from 1.5~3.5 degree negative camber)
Hi, thanks for your comment. There are too many variables that will influence this. First of all: strutt thickness in front will limit you Second of all: ride height also influences how much clearance And other factors. But probably -3 should be ok. The only way to be sure is buy wheels, tires and suspension. Adjust and try. There is no 100% sure answer 😉👍🏼
@@JesseSpecThanks for the advice! Totally makes sense. Agreed with you that I will go ahead to get these bad boys on and give them a try. Looking forward to watching more great overviews like this from you 😊
@@JesseSpecyeah but In your video, you say the +45 offset is the best offset, to keep the factory set up, including wheel aligment..!.. Is that correct..!… I’m talking about 18x9.5 +45 wheels..!
@@theserbian1 hi, why are you using exclamation marks? I don’t know if you are asking a question or stating a view point? Please rephrase with adequate punctuation and I will happily answer you if its a question 👍🏼
@@JesseSpec 👍 Yes I have them in 18 x 8.5 ET 43 with 235/40/18 Yokohama A052 tyres. Really really a huge improvement in feel & grip without losing the OEM balance.
Yes, I agree, except fo the +32 offset which I think is excessive. It appears to many that this car doesn't like anything above 10mm total offset. I have the TC105X in 18 x 8.5 ET +43 with 235/40/18 Yokohama A052 tyres. Really really a huge improvement in feel & grip without losing the OEM balance. This gives you exactly 8mm extra offset than OEM wheels.
You video was very informative and i have learned a few new thing! I want to put these on the Yaris too and i have the same dilemma. It think if you are mostly doing street driving 18x9 with 245 (or 255) would be more than enough right? And it's probably less expensive, wheel and tires as well, and narrower tires are probably better when it comes to Aquaplaning etc and a Yaris has to be driven in the Rain and all conditions. Does the weight of the tire have an impact too or is that negligible? and what about the impact on the stock suspension setup when you have have wider (probably) more grippier tires? Well that's at least what my thoughts were, happy to get more inputs. :)
I pretty much tend to think 9 is better for the street too. Its a bit less extreme. The weight of the tire plays a big role since its on the extremity of the wheels, so it will have an impact for sure. Also each tire brand/model has a different weight so one needs to chose wisely. Regarding the stock suspension setup, if you mean geometry then probably the good thing of having stock offset is you don’t change it. However I am not say getting a new and more agressive geometry wont improve the handling ;-) its always a game of trial and error…
@@JesseSpec i was thinking more about spring rates than the geometry but hey i'm not an expert haha. I think i would go for the same tires in 245's (PS4S) as i'm not driving on track with this one ... for now at least. BTW for winter tires i am running ET40 instead of 45 and it feels not much worse (wheels are ofc a bit heavier) but looks already much better haha
Planning to get 18x8.5 et35 TE37 with 245/40/18 tires. Will this work? Dont want to much meat in my tires but want to fill the arches for aesthetic reasons. Any help will be highly appreciated!!
Question i have not neen able to get an answer to; im tirn between 9.5 and 9" wide, i love the looks of 9.5", have seen it in person, but i like the weight of the 9 with 245 tires. Assuming same offset, between the 9 and 9.5, do the just maje the hub thicker to maintain offset on the wider wheel, or are the spokes sucked in further and there is a larger lip on the 9.5? If you could answer this that all i need to know to pull trigger on a set finally. Cheers, tranny appreciate your detailed walkthru!
Hi! Thanks for you comment. The 18x9 and the 18x9.5 have an identical front face. Its baril width that changes. I would honestly never go back from the 18x9.5 +45 👍🏼😉
Hi - would you recommend the 18x9 or 18x9.5 for a Nankang AR-1 255/35/18 tyre? Track use only. Also, would you recommend hub-centric centre caps for track use, or will they centre well enough without?
Hi, thanks for you comment! Up coming video will show you exactly what I will run. One thing is sure, I am going with the 9.5s! No need for hub centrics! Not using them and never have with all my weds wheels! Race or street, not going to use rings on my weds 👍🏼 Regarding the AR1, I sadly don’t know how wide they really are. All I can say is that the YOKOHAMAs fit perfectly in 255 😊🔥
Hi! Thanks for your question. To be honest spacers suck! They mess up your geometry and handling. Don’t put spacers. All your bushings and bearings will also thank you
Hi, thanks for your comment. However its too vague. Each tire brand is different. Some are wider than others. 255 seems like a better option to me if you are worried for clearance
Hi, greetings from Sweden !!!😊 i wonder if you have tested to fit the weeds sport t105x wheel size 18x10,5. I wonder if will fit. Thank you very much for your help!
@@JesseSpec…. yes So please If you so confident putting up a video, about whats the best wheel size for Yaris, got to be talking about tires too, as people are confused with tire size, between 245-255 and 265, on a 9.5 wide wheel..!..Also lots of people I been talking to, dont like the look where the tire is streched on a wheel, but prefer tire to be flash with the wheel
@@theserbian1 how about you make a video about tire size? Instead of asking for information and not bringing anything to the table ( with a very unpleasant tone)! 😂 fun aside, tire size is a separate matter/video. I could make a video about it but honestly with the racing season coming, I am a bit overwhelmed right now. To be honest, I have a perfect (in my opinion) race proven setup (tire size)where i raced 9 races with in 2023 with the 9.5s and it even passed inspection for the street! But with ungrateful people like you, I have no desire to share it 👍🏼😊
Hello, yes they are. In Switzerland if you don’t have 7 full windings of the thread, they cannot be road legal. This corresponds to current homologation standards
Why not use 9x19 ? the standard curcuit pack wheels look bigger due to the spokes going out to the edge of the wheel, these Wedssports make the wheels look smaller 😮 19s should be the way to go 😊
Hi, thanks for your comment. It may look good to some, but we want to go fast, so 19inch is not the right size for the GR Yaris (reminder:homologation rally car)
Hi, good question! Let me give you my opinion on this. Its maybe not everybodys mindset but anyway. I would not mix widths front on rear for the following reasons: - its not like that from the factory - even if you manage to find identical external diameter tires, I tend to say a 4x4 will not like it due to the differences in potential rotational speed and also torque/weight difference. - it would probably make the car even less tail happy, which is clearly not what I want 😉 Hope this helps!
Hi, I have no idea to be honest. I don’t know what ET style is… All I can say is that they take 60deg conical lug nuts that have a 19mm socket to install them. Hope this helps. 🤞🏻
@@JesseSpec Sorry, I meant extended thread. They would have a 60 deg seat but also have a part that goes through the lug hole for more thread engagement. The GR Yaris is known to have shorter studs right? Would the expectation be to run these with extended studs to get the proper thread engagement?
Hi, I don’t think so. Think about it, it would be 2.4cm further out that the ones I like 18x9.5 +45. I don’t see that fitting and looking good/performing well.
Stock OEM is the best setup. It was specced, setup and tested by WRC champions, after all. BBS forged wheels are perfect weight Don't reinvent the wheel.
Oem spec is good. But sorry the Wedssport is better in every metric than the bbs forged. Even price wise (for stock size, if thats your cup of tea). Nobody reinventing the wheel here 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ As Collin Chapman said: « Light is right! » Remember that!
My OEM CIrcuit pack wheels, balanced and done, are 8.3kg each. Also, if we're going to get a look at previews of wider wheels on cars (end of video) let's compare all wheels on either stock height or lowered cars. The 8x18 on stock GR Yaris suspension vs the wider ones on lowered cars will trick a few peoples eyes. Just pointing it out. Correctness in information is important.
Hi, Maybe you can help to provide the photos of all these wheels on stock cars? I’ll happily redo the video with your photos. Sorry buddy, but such luxury is Not always available. Maybe you haven’t realised, but this isn’t a multi million dollar RU-vid channel. I operate with what I have, and your comment doesn’t really take that into account… I don’t know where you found 8.3kg… but thats not what I found🤷🏻 But Even then, these wheels are nearly half the price and easily a kg lighter in equal size of the stock forged ones… so although I appreciate your fact checking, in the end it doesn’t change the end result of the information provided through this video. Do you really think my goal is to trick people? 😂
It definitely does. There are people having 17x9 and 17x9.5. More rubber apsorbs better road imperfection plus less unsprung mass. But people always go for looks instead of drivebility. Only advantige with 18 is there is more room for brakes 18" can take up to 380mm brake. Unless going to bigger brakes 17 is sweatspot.
