Keenan ty for all of your tutorial vids. Ive been watching and following you for a long time and have learned so much from u. I first started training in 2006 and have sorta been off and on due to work, life, and other things but ive never been away from bjj for long. Ive done multiple ibjjf tourneys as well :). I have this technique ive always used with the kimura and just wanted to run it past you and tell me what u think and if youve ever done it yourself...it seems to always work for me even with the higher lvl grapplers. Once i get into side control and i'm on top i love work on the kimura from that position. Once I get the kimura from side control it feels like I have so much control of their body and i tend to transition it right into an armbar. So for instance if Im on the left side of their body i will get the kimura lock on their right arm..spin around their head then drop back for the armbar..as im sliding down the arm I break the kimura lock and finish with traditional grips on the arm. A few things work against the guy on bottom so if they are not paying attention its not that difficult to get the kimura. First is when they try to turn into you and second is how they keep their arms in close when on the bottom. Thank you again Keenan for sharing all of your knowledge with us.

This is actually wrestling vs wrestling..... or was, until it got banned. In wrestling it's known as Doublewrist lock. It used to be one of the most popular holds in wrestling, if not the most popular. There's youtube video on Mark Shultz using this move against Turkey's Karabachek as late as the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Quite brutal to watch.

Agreed. I have been training Jujitsu / Old School Judo / Karate since 85' . I have worked with wrestlers in the past and this technique came up a few times. I learned a few variations working with them and with the ferocity a wrestler or Judoka can apply this, it can be quite devastating .

Awesome. And I think for your setup you would love a decent boom mic like an NTG3 or MKH416 with a sturdy mic stand like a Hercules boom or a good C-Stand. Way better quality and consistency and you'd totally eliminate the brushing against the mic.
@theodt
@theodt 4 года назад
Does the boom mic capture signal when, say, he's under his partner?
@peteypablo09
@peteypablo09 4 года назад
@@theodt Yeah it would still work great then too. As long as you would be able to hear him in the room, you would be able to hear it with a good boom mic. You just need to make sure it's set up in the right spot with the right input level before recording and you're golden. Him or his camera guy would maybe need to learn a tiny bit about how to set it up but I think Keenan's into learning new things and obviously he cares about increasing his production quality since he's already upgraded a bunch of things.
@peteypablo09
@peteypablo09 4 года назад
Oh forgot to mention that if you/anyone decided to do something like that, you would need an XLR cable for the mic. And either an audio interface (to get data from mic to your laptop) or an audio recorder with XLR input (to get data from mic to the recorder, then you can bring that to the computer later with USB cable or SD card) Some recorders that aren't too expensive would be Tascam or Zoom brand (just make sure it has XLR input) (and make sure you buy SD card for it if it doesn't come with one) Focusrite has popular audio interfaces that are inexpensive and good quality For the XLR cable it doesn't matter what brand you get. Just make sure you get the length you want.

Unless they are twice as strong 2 on 1 grips should always work. Keep your elbows tight together and use shoulder pressure on their armpit shoulder. Not every technique will work on every body type matchup. Technically you should be able to beat someone with speed if they are bigger, so sprawl before they even get the single leg takedown.
