Yes, and the recipients of Revelation (many of whom were Jewish Christians) would have understood the point and message. They would have understood the references to symbols and themes of the Hebrew Scriptures. They would have understood the connection between the Beast and dragon of Revelation and the gliding serpent and Rahab of Isaiah, and Leviathan of Job 41:1-ff. Sadly many religious people today do not understand this, and sadly they're pushing a message Revelation was not making. We should be sharing the gospel, but only obeying the law of God will save us from the mark of the beast. Of the ten commandments, Catholics only keep eight and Protestants, with few exceptions, only keep nine. When Sunday Laws are enforced, and you choose to honor God's holy 7th day Sabbath instead of Sunday, you will be seen as a criminal, someone who's not keeping man's law so you will not be able to buy nor sell. However, I believe that the Sabbath is a rest in the finished works of Jesus. Jesus in all of the gospels made a point of showing that it was okay to work miracles on the sabbath and used the parable of helping your oxen out of the ditch if it were to fall in. I dont think God cares if we work on Saturday.. but he does care if we work for our salvation. That is the free gift. And that is what the sabbath represents. He also writes that it´s not clear that you are supposted to count numbers in Rev 13:18. I was told the mark of the beast in the forehead was knowledge of sin and the acceptance of it and the mark in the right hand is action of those who indulge, don't know how true it is, but I do know the more knowledge derived from the antichrist, the more man acts on his sinful nature and accepts it rather than question it and fixing it man finds ways to accommodate it. It made me wonder if that's what Paul Harvey was saying when he said " the good will become bad and the bad will become good", I compare this to a smoker who has knowledge of the smoke killing them and they still act on the desire of addiction and then you have the 2nd person who allows and enables the smoker with that common belief it's their body and their life, ironically both suffer. The smoker suffers physical death and misses out on the simple things in life that are God given and the 2nd person who allowed it and enabled it becomes the person who suffers guilt and loss. 2 types of sin and 2 types of marks.

THAT was an explanation? Really? If I understand Craig correctly he is saying that anyone who is a Christian has the Mark of the Lamb and anyone who is an Unbeliever has the Mark of the Beast. Two problems with that 1) Scripture says that the Beast "caused" the Unbelievers "to be marked". (v.16) "so that" they couldn't buy or sell unless they have it (v.17). That tell me it's a visible/physical mark/identification of some sort. 2) Ch. 14 and the 144,000 is a little more difficult because it seems they have perhaps received a physical mark somehow as well by the words "written".

See the thing is, God is not the author of confusion, we can know 100% through studying Gods word. And the most logical explanation is in the near future a cashless society, lead by a religious leader (the Pope I think) will enforce his physical mark as a sign of worship and obedience, and whoever receives it will be able to participate in this system, so buying and selling goods, working...etc we need to understand that God didnt give us his word to confuse us, but so we can know and prepare, and the bible clearly states “receive a mark (in) their right hand or forehead.”
The number 6 and the number 3 are symbolic in scripture. 6=sin/corruption 3=completeness 666= completely sinful/corrupt... The unbelieving, unsaved are dead in their sin... Completely corrupt. Remember, the two witnesses have been protesting for 3 1/2 years and have just been raised to life in from of everyone in the world. God will leave no doubt of their testimony in anyone’s minds. Why don't they just say, at this time we cannot be dogmatic what the mark of the beast is at this time. I believe those living at the time of this forced mark will be known at the time of putting into practice.

I am realizing more and more that there are many people who actually believe that they are 'automatically' going to heaven if only they avoid the 'mark of the beast.' (when it comes) That is incredibly scary as there is much more to what determines our eternity than that!! People, we are born into a sinful, fallen world. This means that, "by default" we are on our way to hell, not heaven. Did you know that?? Please do not listen to those who say "good people go to heaven" & "bad people go to hell." That is just not how it works. Jesus Christ died a horrible death on a cross at Calvary to make a way for us to be able to spend eternity in heaven with Him. We can do this by turning from our sins, repenting of them, & asking Jesus Christ to come into our hearts & become our Lord & Savior. I'm not a young person; I have seen this world change & become more evil than I ever would've imagined. Prophecies in the Bible have come to pass more & more. Though no one knows the exact time Jesus will come for us (& I hate it when people claim to know) we can tell what season we are in & that it can't be too much longer. So, absolutely, study & learn about the 'mark of the beast', learn all you can about everything God has said. Just know that the ONLY way we will avoid hell & enjoy eternal life in heaven is through JESUS CHRIST, His son. God bless.
