To be fair though, Trump taught all of us- the entire world!!- an important lesson- if you are loud and personable then it doesn't matter how smart you are. lol I have a similar story to that. I went to a camp and we did this marching thing where we had to line up in rows of four, the shortest in the front. I went in the 2nd row cause I’m 5’ 3” and when we line up a boy goes in my spot. He’s a few inches am taller then me and I can’t see anything so I’m like . . . This guy literally thought he was taller than people half a foot over than him. Again that sounds minor until you realize this means when he is looking at someone's chin at his own eye level has convinced himself to ignore a glaring fact.

I was so poor I didn't even know FAFSA existed until after I graduated HS. I saved all of my money for a year just to pay for community college. I thought only rich people or straight A students went to college and that "financial aid" just meant scholarships. It wasn't until I was sent a letter telling me I needed to bring my 1040 to the Bursar office (no idea what that even meant at the time) that I learned what it was. I thought they needed "proof of income" to show that I could pay my tuition. The lady wasn't even surprised that I didn't know.

@@tybooskie Yeah. Its quite common that people don't know. I was a mentor for highschool kids and would help them apply. Anyone can apply. It has nothing to do with grades and more to do with income. Most schools do require it. In this girls case it was the way she said it, not what she said. I was used to people not knowing about fafsa. It was my job. But she just sounded so clueless about life in general. And seemed so weirded out by a lower class.

@@tybooskie Fun fact thats not so fun: I was really poor too. I even took dual credit courses in highschool to save money later on. I then qualified for the pell grant and a full scholarship from my university. The scholarship was specifically for students whose parents joint income was less than $40,000 a year. My mom was a single mother of three. So I got a full ride for being poor. I got lucky somehow. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Had to do a 20 mile hike as part of a scouting trip as a kid and that took practically half the day to do it. Granted it was through the Shiloh national military park, and we did make frequent stops, I don't think I'd have done much better on a flat stretch of road.

I know of time zones but school is still 9-3:30 regardless, I've assumed? Though I tended to start counting as when I got there and when I left for home. (so in my last school 8:30-5:30/6pm. Hour long journey there and back, previous bus was 3:15, and since ended at 3:30, just had to sit in the foyer and wait with a book for the four years I was there.....! And that's if the bus came, half the time I'd have to call my parents to drive out an hour to come and pick me up because the bus was OUT OF SERVICE when going past me. I was under 18 so it's not like I could drive myself.) I've always envied people that lived in the same towns as their schools and could just walk the ten minutes to home instead of being on the bus for half an hour or longer.

In most countries school is 8hours or less (maybe up to 4hours a day but in other countries we have this thing called 'extra tuition' that may last over 4hours including weekends and public holidays with a mandatory 8hours a day for five days a week.

You need a break from hellholes XD And like I said in my last school the day was 10-11 hours because it counted from as soon as I left the house to when I got home and because I had to stay two hours after just to wait for the bus, not doing a club or anything it was just that classes ended at 3:30 meaning I missed the 3:15 bus and had to wait for the next one at 5:15 IF it came at all and was on time. I wasn't 18 yet so I couldn't even start LEARNING to drive to get myself there and back and have it only be a half hour journey instead of an hour or more each way. But extra school just means extra stress, why bother? It's already bad enough.

The psycho woman was ultimately jailed and likely got a psych eval. She cursed out the owner for not firing the security guy, and tried to get the owner fired. Falsely claimed to be a long time customer. The owner said they never did anyone's shopping for them. A real ugly, entitled breakdown there!

Yeah we have something called “Section Eight” in my state. The houses aren’t in a great neighborhood, but not the worst, and there are requirements (take care of it, no criminal activity, approved residents only), but they are nice, clean, good sized and safe. Waiting list has been up to 6 years before. When I entered my apartment, they’d just built it and had a loose sliding scale (two blocks- under 30k per year and everyone else.) I had no renting history, crappy credit, job paid shit (definitely not the 3x more than rent requirement.) I got accepted and criiied (first place of my own). People who make over 30k pay about 1.2k for the studio apartment model I have; I pay... not that. It’s definitely not free (or even cheap), but it’s one of the best deals I’ve _ever_ found, unless I want to live in the crappy part of town or the middle of nowhere. I’ve lived here for 2 years and recently found out that there is a 3+year waiting list for this building. Broke my heart. I try to remember at least once a week how frickin blessed I am and try to be the best tenant possible. I’ve had neighbors act like asses & get kicked out, and at first I feel bad... then I remember that list and pray someone who deserves it gets that apartment. Homelessness is a huge problem in my state.
