Good explanation of how a lot gets funded!

That's a great explanation of how our Hunting and Fishing purchases go towards overall conservation. Although separate fro PR and DJ, it could be added that the Purchase of hunting and fishing license are also contributions towards conservation. Thanks Randy!

Always happy to see the Hug a Hunter/Fishermen adds that run here in CO.

I would love to see a program like that here in Oregon with such painfully Liberal bastions as Portland and Eugene. Though it would probably open some eyes on the more conservative side of the mountains, as well. Ignorance isn't based on the color of Kool-Aid people drink.

Every state of the union and each US territory receives and spends PR/WSFR dollars.

Great video! I was the Federal Aid Coordinator for the Alaska Department of Fish & Game Division of Wildlife Conservation. Funds are used for more than conservation, but management and research projects. States must come up with 25% match on projects to use PR/WSFR dollars which by law (per the act) originate from the sale of state hunting/fishing/trapping licenses. Lastly fund are also spent on operating shooting ranges and hunter education programs. The biggest kicker to the program is that matching funds can also come from anywhere (other than other federal funds) and this is where entities like Safari Club International, or Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, or other more local organizations can contribute to projects and maximize the use of PR/WSFR dollars.

All good points to add to this video. Thanks for your work as the Coordinator.

I'd rather have that money and invest it personally in NGOs and organisations that achieve the same goal. I'd be curious to see the efficiency of every dollar given to state agencies vs. non-profits. Regardless, thanks for this video, whether I agree with them or not, knowing how agencies work and where their funding comes from is an important part of conservation.

Nice job, Randy. I'm very familiar with both of these programs and are well aware of how important they are. What the writers of these bills did is called good governance. Governance with a conscience and forethought. Hug a hunter! We're the reason our fish and game populations and our environment are in such good condition compared to what they could be like with all the pressure they sustain.

With the popularity of archery they need to transfer this to the archery side of things , I would support that in a heartbeat
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 6 лет назад
It applies to archery products, also.

I'm in Washington state and I don't see any tax difference from buying archery equipment or hunting equipment than I do buying socks or shoes what groceries it's all the same 8. 4% for state tax.

But we have something here in this state that you don't have we have a timber company that runs our fish and wildlife despite what anybody says . Weyerhauser has some pretty deep pockets and to much control
@jaysonsmith9542

So I'm guessing

No one in the non-hunting community realizes this. Without hunters and fisherman, the impact on or natural resources would be catastrophic. Love these videos Randy.

The biggest reason those folks you mentioned are unaware is that we have done a poor job of telling our story. We need to tell our story better, more often, and in places where others will hear it.

Eric Wiitala over the past few years I have told several gun control proponents that if they ban guns and ammo as they desire they are going to lose a large portion of their wildlife conservation funding. They had no idea about this.

I like to tell vegans that they kill more fish, and animals than any hunter. They start to argue than I inform them about habitat loss, pesticides and ground animals that get tilled up to plant their soy beans. Before I tell them about how all the conservation is funded.

You know Randy people in the everyday world don’t realize the importance of people like us we as hunters make a difference in the world as we manage the wildlife and also put money back into conservation to the wildlife for me it has been a way of life for me and my family for generations we love the outdoors and fishing I love when I see young hunters out hunting with there fathers or mothers cause I know as long as we keep introducing young hunter to what we love to to do that it will live on Randy I love what you do as far as conservation for wildlife and your videos to let the American people know the truth about our public lands and what we can do to keep our lands public for the American hunters of America thank you for what you do so very much as a friend and a hunter I hope to get to start hunting out West one day soon will h y’all

Another excellent video. Sharing on all my feeds for everyone to see! Every time I run into a non-hunter or anti-hunter I try to explain this to them, but many times they do not believe me. Funny how when somebody has a heart so strongly against something (or somebody) they will choose to believe whatever regardless of the facts. Thanks again!

Great information. I was just telling someone the other day about the hug a hunter and hug a fishermen campaign. It was someone that was complaining about hunters and how they do nothing for conservation. I took great offense to their comments and informed them without the hunters you would have nothing.

Us hunters wanted to be taxed, even during the Great Depression, because we had foresight. We knew the economy would eventually improve, and even more money would go towards wildlife conservation once it did. Multiple species such as the mule deer, Rocky Mountain elk, bighorn sheep, American bison, and pronghorn antelope were saved by hunters and the Pittman-Robertson Act.

Happy to say Michigan started an advertising campaign similar to Colorado. Hopefully the non-hunting/fishing public will have a better understanding what funds our wildlife departments.

@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 4 года назад
If you buy ammo or firearms, the manufacturer of that items is paying an excise tax that is probably added on to you. It doesn't only go for wildlife. It also goes toward shooting ranges and other facilities.
@COBRAWILLY05

Your excise taxes are a big part of what keep agencies funded.
