Kari the Mortician explains what the Walking Corpse Syndrome or AKA Cotard's Syndrome. Have you ever heard of this?! @KaritheMortician @theickfactor3894 kari@KaritheMortician
Never heard of it. I do know that shock therapy worked for my grandma, who became very depressed in the late 1970s. She was admitted to a psych facility and shock therapy brought her back to her normal self. She lived on independently to meet several great-grand children. God blessed her. 🥰 I've been interested in NeuroStim to treat my chronic depression but they can't do this procedure on anyone with an implant/generator in their chest, like a pacemaker. I have an Inspire device for sleep therapy. NeuroStim is now Medicare approved. ⚡🧠⚡
Carrie Fisher had major depression throughout her entire adult life. The only treatment that seemed to help was ECT. Unfortunately, it wiped out part of Her memory every time. She had to have a friend with her when she went out because she had forgotten people and had to be reminded who they were. She suffered a lot.
Nope, never heard of this before. This is why I love your videos. Always something new and informative. Thanks so much for sharing. Norm from Montreal.
Amazing what we are learning on your channel, keep up the good work, certainly has helped me understand the funeral industry, take care stay safe, regards from ballarat in Oz,👋👋🙏🙏👍🇦🇺
This was very informative! I had never heard of it, but you always teach us about new things that are quite interesting. Thank you KARI for all your great information. From AKRON, OHIO 😊😊
Yes I've heard of it, another interesting one is Alien hand syndrome, there's also exploding head syndrome and there's a really weird one where men believe their penis is shrinking away but I can't remember the name. There's also the one where people can't recognize their own face in the mirror but can recognize other people. There are so many things that can go weirdly wrong with us humans.
I would love to talk to someone that has that! Just to pick their brain and find out where it stems from and why they think that way! Thanks Kari! Now I will go research this more 😃
I worked in psych hospitals most of my life and have never seen that condition. I have seen amazing results from ECT, I've seen it administered, and it's nothing like it's portrayed in movies or on TV. I'm not surprised it would be the choice for treatment and I'm not surprised it would be effective.
very interesting Kari. As you will know there is a lot of people who have mental issues. The mind has a lot to do with the physical health of the whole body
No I haven't heard of it. However I do have experience with electroshock therapy as my mom was treated with it for bipolar syndrome back in the 60's. Suffice to say I'm leery of its resurgence in current times, based on how it affected her. I'm trying to keep an open mind seeing some of the data that has been published regarding voltage and duration of the treatments being modified. So I still squirm when I hear it mentioned.
ISTR that Caitlin Doughty did a program about this a while back. IASTR that it, and the related disorders, are probably caused by decreased activity in certain parts of the brain.
And for a few years I believed I was the walking dead and the rats in my brain were telling me what to do so people wouldn't realize they were in there.
Just heard on the radio today of a women knocking on the lid of her coffin at a funeral; this was somewhere out of this country and obviously was an unembalmed body.
Centuries ago, this happened as a result of other disease symptoms or pathology. That is why, in modern times wakes are called "wakes", to allow time before final burial for the deceased to "wake", if indeed that is what they're going to do. I'm sure comas and locked-in syndrome were responsible for burying live people, before the knowledge and technology was available to prove otherwise. Uggghhhhhh!😱🥺😯
Kari, I have a question. Do you know when a person is to be cremated if they are wrapped in a sheet or have clothes on or nude? I ask because my sister was cremated and I wondered if cloth materials are mixed in with the ashes.
I saw a show several years ago that the person thought they were dead. It is strange to think that while discussing this they are communicating to someone. Definitely sounds like a psychological problem.
