I am from Brazil, a professor of communication and mental at Psychiatry Institute of Rio de Janeiro Federal University. I loved your lecture, very didactic and easy understanding. I will used it in my research and that of my graduate students. thank you.
Excellent text book, excellent talk, thank you Victoria. My current university (Coventry) lecturer in MSc psychology qualitative research highly recommend your "Successful Qualitative Research" book. Have watched your you tube talks and you're an excellent lecturer. I do so hope your dog was okay 🐾
Bloody brilliant. Thank you both. Your examples of what is, and what is not a theme has really helped me. I'm Jimmy Cliff. I can see all the obstacles in way...(now you can hum the tune...)
Great response to critics that say a TA is not sophisticated enough for a doctorate. I completely agree with you that the sophistication lies in the researchers skill and not the methodology used.
I am highly inspired. It was a great experience for me as I am still in the process of learning thematic analysis from the basics. Many thanks for being there.
Thank you so much for this useful RU-vid. I think qualitative methods, as well as methodology, is an area to that could develop further and is a hope for the effort to get closer to the truth
Hello Ma'am. The Braun & Clarke (2006) paper you are referring is this? Braun, V. and Clarke, V. (2006) Using thematic analysis in psychology.Qualitative Research in Psychology, 3 (2). pp. 77-101
Hi Horeno, that is the correct paper you are referring to, I am using Thematic Analysis right now in my master thesis and that is the paper I based my approach on.
At 39.05... “So, it’s about the researcher as storyteller. Actively engaged with the data, through the lens of their own cultural membership and social positioning, their theoretical assumptions and ideological commitment. So, it’s not about accuracy, it’s not about reliability.” So, you proport that a good method of scientific research does not need to be accurate or reliable? Rather it is reasonable or even superior for a ‘researcher’ to insert their own cultural and ideological bias into a data set and come to whatever conclusion they feel to be correct based on their bias?
Dear Prof Victoria, I am a huge fan of Braun&Clarke work, we really need systematic process and clarification in doing QR.Your works have been helping me a lot. Thank you very much. Can I ask if is it possible to have these video slide presentation?
Bloody hell! What an absolute travesty of video design. If you really wanted a split screen, you really should have made the writing the bigger part as that’s the information-element of the video. Other than this is bloody fantastic. Thanks.
