Well done my friend. I'm a Christian Orthodox from Greece and I can say that you clearly explained what Orthodoxy is all about. Three steps to achieve Theosis are, repentance, prayer and fasting. Do it for a week and you will be filled with the Holy Spiri, the feeling is amazing there no words to express it! Well done!

The true human purpose

I have a question that might sound odd. I'm exploring Orthodoxy from a Protestant background. How is the word "theosis" used in everyday conversation by adherents? A Protestant might say: "I know I'm called to grow in becoming more like Christ; this process of sanctification, I believe, will currently realistically require daily prayers on my part to ask God for the strength to avoid temptation, because I am not currently in the practice of praying daily." How would this type of sentiment be "translated" into a sentence that uses the term "theosis"? For example, would anyone say, "Theosis is hard - yesterday I was tempted to gossip about my boss with a coworker. Thankfully the phone rang and the conversation got cut short." ? Asking just to understand linguistically/practically this new (to me) concept of "theosis." Not looking to debate (thank you, haha). It's possible someone out there might find fault with me using the word "sanctify," but I just chose it and daily prayer as an example to solicit a response about how to use the word "theosis" in everyday life. Just seeking guidance about grammar/linguistics. Thank you!

I am not an eastern orthodox(i am an anglo catholic) but theosis is a doctrine of orthodoxy i hold to.

Protestants believe that Only Salvation is possible. Orthodox believe that we are saved by Christ but also healed and transformed, by grace, to share in his divine life. We don't become God, We become closely united to him that we share in the life and light of the most holy Trinity. We are called to be partakers of the Divine Nature.. That Is In Scripture! God spoke to Abraham " Walk before Me and be thou perfect!" Salvation cleanses and makes whole but the uncreated light of God transforms and grafts us into Christ " I Am the vine, You are the branches!" Did not Jesus say this? Evangelicals say they are delivered From the Law and yet so many of them are Legalistic and Juridical. Salvation is not an end point, It's a beginning. God's creation was a beginning, not an end. Behold I make All things new... Make Not Made....

I’m new to this philosophy but I’m interested. I don’t know if I understand what is meant by to become like God or I’ve heard n another video “to become God by grace”. Surely, I cannot become God or desire to be. I am a worm compared to God.
