We spent 26 days in Newfoundland in 2022. What a great place to visit. My only error on planning that trip was I could have easily added two more weeks. We did spend 3 weeks in Quebec which was also great.

Of course Newfoundland and Labradour look like Scandanavia, it is because they are actually part of the same geological formation. The landform that contains the chain of the Appalachians mountains starts in Georga, goes up through the areas we normally associate with the Appalachians, it continues through Maine, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labradour, then underneath the Northern Atlantic and then through Ireland, Scotland, Greeland, iceland, and Scandinavia. Another part is along the North Western coast of Africa. The similar geology of those places is what helped cement the theory that was then called "Continental Drift", and today we know as Plate tectonics.

The rugged beauty of Newfoundland & Labrador, combined with the kindness and friendliness of Newfoundlanders, makes this one of the best parts of Canada. Are you stopping by Gander? We Canadians are so proud of of this small town, which only has about 6 traffic lights, and how it sheltered over 6000 people for a week after 9/11. Enjoy! We will not be there this year, but are heading to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia & PEI in a few weeks. Safe travels!

Congratulations on finding one of the best-kept secrets in Canada. As a Canadian, Newfoundland and Labrador is by far my favourite part of our great country. Hopefully, you made it to L'Anse aux Meadows which is another Unesco World Heritage site and home to the first Viking Settlement in North America. Enjoy, there is so much more to see and do.

Newfoundland is a special place. My favourite. I’ve been to every province and lived in several of them. Newfoundland/Labrador still stands out as the best place. Especially when you have roots there, understand the deep history of Newfoundlanders, and have experienced the kindness and loving nature of Its people 👍🏼

In Newfoundland I met the best people in the world and have long lasting friends, the best kind ever. I lived in Gander for a few years and the rest of the time in St. John’s. It’s great seeing the rocky coast, a lot of countryside that I miss. Enjoy!

Gros Morne National Park is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! We went to Newfoundland by motorcycle a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it! We learned that real estate had been greatly impacted by 9/11 because some plane traffic had been diverted to Newfoundland because of the attacks. People fell in love with place while they were waiting to be able to get to their intended destination and feverishly bought up property! We look forward to watching this series about this magical place! Thank you!

Re the bugs…that is quite common for many national parks in Canada depending on the month. Right now is when the black flies come out in droves at higher elevations in the Canadian Rockies - by the way, they don’t just bite, they chew. 😉. And mosquitoes are just a fact of life all summer long. Loved the scenery in this video. The Rock is the one place I’ve not been to in the maritimes, it’s on my bucket list and your video makes me want to go even more!!! Also would you be able to remind us what month you filmed these in - helps with point of reference for those of us who would like to go there. 😊

My wife and I met in Argentia in 1981 while stationed there with the Navy. I was an IC and she was an OT, it was love at first sight, sadly she didn’t even know I was alive, but I had a plan and here we are 42 years later. We loved our tour in Arg. as did everyone stationed there. We made memories and life long friends. I think we might head up that way next summer. Thanks for taking us back down memory lane. Newfoundland back country is notorious for black fly's and midges (no see-im), I used to go up in the hills trout fishing in the spring, just when the ice would start to thaw. Went back a week or to later and you could not stay without a bug helmet. Any exposed skin was a target, ears, eye's waste, ankles.

Yes, the black flies are completely normal there in the summer. They were all over the island when we were there, even down in St. Jean's, but the worst was L'Anse aux Meadows. Still well worth a visit though! Just be prepared for them. Many people wore helmets with face screens, like beekeepers!

Are you going to be going to Gander NFLD? This is the town of 10,000 people that helped 6000 + people on 130+ US and International diverted flights when US air space was shut down on 9_11. Ther story is known as Operation Yellow Ribbbon. A musical was written about their story, it went to Broadway and won a Tony award. The Gander airport was originally the fueling station for Canadian and US war planes headed overseas to Europe in the 1940s. It then became the refueling stop for transatlantic flights until the Jumbo Jets came along and didn't need to refuel.

Hey guys welcome to Newfoundland, Nan and I were watching your other channel when we first got interested in van life. We're still working part time and also have a Nan and Pop Dildo souvenir shop in Dildo on the Avalon peninsula, we're looking at vanlife as a way of doing some traveling and working on the bucket list after we retire. We'd love to have you drop by for Visit. Stay safe guys, enjoy our beautiful province and watch out for moose on the highways. Safe travels, Nan and Pop.

Thanks so much for the invitation. We were up in that area a few weeks ago! We would have loved to chat. I am sorry to say we are already off the rock. Our videos run a few weeks behind.

Awww, brings back memories from when my family and I camped at Gros Morne. We also did the Western Brook Pond boat tour (saw a moose up on a hillside too!) and saw the wreck of the S.S. Ethie on the beach. Not sure how far up you guys made it but while going to see the shipwreck and were up near/past Cow Head, one thing that struck me was how stunted the trees were along the coast. We also went up to The Arches Provincial Park (past Cow Head). I can't recall when it started but the terrain changed the closer we got to The Arches and it was more of a tundra type where I half expected to see caribou. I don't recall us doing the Tablelands but might have driven by them? It's been almost 20 years so the memory's a bit foggy lol. I did a trip to St. John's back in 1995 with my youth choir and I'm sure the video you'll do for your time there will also bring back some memories of Signal Hill and possibly some icebergs at the mouth of the harbor. And good ol' Newfoundland weather . . .and bugs, lol (we have the same in NB so no, it's not an abnormal thing although I wish it were!)

Bugs love our Atlantic Canadian spruce forests, lakes, rivers and brooks! Annoying but a small price to pay for all the natural beauty our region possesses!

Beautiful. We are going there next summer on an Adventure Caravans 59 day tour of Gaspe and the Atlantic Provinces. I miss Gizmo. I know you do, too.

If you get a chance you should visit st.lawerence and learn about the American ships the truxton and the Pollox. Lanier Phillips was a famous USN serviceman with a fascinating story that was tied to Newfoundland. Welcome to the rock.

Sorry you didn't go north to the Norseman settlement. It is worth the drive. Make sure you go to the Twingate Dinner Theater. Lobster and a show you will never forget. FYI I have been on the Rock 5 times now. Last year I spent 4 weeks traveling. You really need a month just to do the loop but you could spend the entire summer on the ROCK.

Great video, guys. I'm guessing the photos don't do this place justice. It looks amazing there. I really hope the rest of the trip is as nice as this part seems. Enjoy the fact that you're not home, we just hit 26 straight days over 100. Most days 104 to 107. Hopefully, we won't be able to save these days for ya'll to share. God bless ya'll and stay safe on your travels out there.

How long in Gros Morne? We stayed in Woody Point for 9 days and it was not enough. Hiking in Tablelands is something else. I did a lot of off trail hiking. If you remember the waterfall I hiked to it. Your video is bring back great memories.

Between you guys and One AdVanture at a Time you've convinced me I need to go to the Maritimes again. The last time I was there was about 56 years ago. Now to convince my wife, which shouldn't be too hard. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

@@juliarock3424 I would love to, but the ferry ride can get pretty expensive for about 65 feet. We'll see.

Anywhere basically from first of May until first of September you'll run into the black flies and mosquitoes in Canada.
