I feel bad for laughing at Spider-Man beating up Professor Xavier, he falls back and whips back into position like those inflatable clowns that you punch and it wobbles back up.
He did on stream. He only wanted to play Spider-Man though, and hated how he had to play through pretty much the whole story before he got to Spider-Man, and after a while just gave up and played something else because the experience he had was bad to him lol
@@cjth3beast265 Almost no one in that game is as fun to use as Spiderman, but I thought Venom was fun to play as and that Electric guy Johnny? (It's been so long)
Now Kurt having a sword is canon to the comics as Kurt is known to be one of the top ranked swordsmen in the Marvel Multiverse and is known to wield either 1 sword, 2 swords, or 3 swords using his prehensile tail as a 3rd hand.
Love how he still keeps his crabwalk from the Capcom games. Also, as much as the Spidey sense super is perfect for him to have, counter supers are notoriously hard to land with all the input reading AIs. And even when Max managed to land one, it was very underwhelming.
Yall missed out. This was and still is such a hype game. The sound design, the gameplay, the meter management, it was ahead of its time. but it looks obviously dated now
I played this game so much as a tween/teen. I miss these days, when you played a fighting game a few times to unlock characters, costumes and endings. Toad and Beast were, well, beasts in this game. X-Men: Next Dimension was pretty good and used a lot of the bones of Mutant Academy 2, but the AI was pretty hard and the story mode had some brutal fights.
I thought this was a different x-men fighting game I used to play called x-men next dimension. My friend taught me a glitch where sabretooth can land his air grab no matter where he or the opponent is on screen, effectively breaking the game.
Dang…the nostalgia! Every character was fun to play. My mains were Cyclops, Spidey, Wolvie, Gambit, and NC. Beast, as CPU in the campaign mode was simply an amazing challenge! As in, he is of the unpredictable variety that doesn’t play cheap by spamming the same moves. This is still one of my absolute favorites games to play for fun. It was a time, where we actually unlocked secret characters and didn’t have characters locked behind paywalls. Wonderful times!
I played X-Men Mutant Academy 2 years ago and it’s my favorite game! Spider-Man 1 and Enter Electro came out during the same year too. Rino Romano voiced him at the time! I still have the game! This makes me excited to see Spider-Man No Way Home tomorrow night!😊👊🏾🕸🕷
That Spider-Man 1 game you’re referring to was one of my all time favorites growing up!! I didn’t like enter electro as much though, I thought the lineup of villains you encounter in the first game was better
@@jeremyroberts8822 the firat game was definitely better than Enter Electro. Not just the villain line up, but the second one is a lot buggier and less polished.
One of the best fighting games on playstation, ever! I love the fast paced combo system, and the way opponents get knocked all over the place when they're hit with special moves.
@@SoloKrypton Are you nuts? Don't have anything better to do than just bash other people's opinions? I love this game and I will continue to enjoy it, unlike you and your edgy bullshit. Don't go away mad, just go away.
I'd buy an X-Men themed fighter like this with some of the newer mutants and mutant-adjacent heroes (Wiccan and Hulkling, Speed, Prodigy, MY BOY GOLDBALLS,) and the classics in a heartbeat. We really need to go back to the days in which licensed Marvel fighters were plentiful and varied in quality. Now, we have MVC on hiatus, Contest of Champions being a mobile gacha game with fighting mechanics, and like...MUGEN?
I used to love this game as a kid! Its so awesome that this Spidey is verbatim PS1 Spider-man the videogame Spidey with the same voice actor and everything. The MCU has nothing on old videogame crossovers lol
I loved this when I was younger. Especially playing as Spidey! I played this again a few years back and the funniest thing that happened in the Juggernaut fight is when as Spidey I was going to do my super and Juggie does one of this grabs where he just picks the guy and slams him down so fast and then laughs: hahaha. It was a hilarious moment XD
This game has a unique meter distribution system where you can manually send any of your meter to other segments of the gauge Oh and Wolverine's back throw > everything else
There's literally a trial mode where you can practice combos. And if you beat the game as Professor X, his ending is pretty much a combo video with all characters
This channel introduced me to the first game a few years back and I love it. There’s so much crazy stuff you can do but it’s also so oddly janky. I miss marvel being fun
My first fighting game I ever played. It might be janky, but I still love it. Had some nice times playing it with friends on a demo disc from a PSX magazine.
i played the first one so much. Always rented it. Never knew this existed. How does it look worse then the original?! I remember Havok always saying "Cyclops Couldnt do better" Good times.
X men mutant academy, bloody roar, mk trilogy, tekken tag and soul calibur 2 were in constant rotation at my house. This is one of the few games my sisters would play with me. Won plenty of money on most of these games. Im surprised that marvel hasn't tried to bring this back but with new mutants. I would definitely give it a try it they made it.
Damn I never thought a well known streamer play on this game. I played this so much that I literally studied all their combos. Then, I fought Spiderman while doing Cyclops arcade run and my child brain was like "wait what, Spiderman is an X-men". Then I unlocked Juggernaut, my brain melted. Then I unlocked Professor X, my childhood was confused. I didnt have the codes back then so I grinded unlocking all
Think I had an acid flashback just from reading the title. Used to love the poolside stage and seeing the costume variations characters would have for it, like Gambit using a pool net instead of his staff.
I think this game was mostly promoting "Spider-Man 2"... not to confuse with "Spider-Man 2" with LITERALLY THE SAME NAME from the Sam Reimi film series. I'm surpised Max didn't see the 2nd Spidey poster on juggernaut's stage. LMAO
The most awesome thing back then was that his ending was a trailer for Spiderman 2: Enter Electro, i loved the first one so much so when i saw as kud was like secobd Christmas
This was my frist marvel fighting game i played as a kid after that it was a Dark mortal kombat like one called Marvel nemesis on the ps2 game was little broke but still fun as a kid. Included fatalities.
Cool, glad to see this is the Spider-Man from the first Morlun arc. No wonder he looks so wack, every bone in his body is broken after that marathon fight.
Ah yes, 2001. Back when the mainstream comic brands were still good, the X-Men hadn't been completely shafted by their company, and kids were just happy to play as Spider-Man in an X-Men game.
I remember the demo had the best music, but for whatever reason, the full game has a completely different soundtrack. I always wondered about why they didn't just use the demo ost?
This game is fucking dope, I don't care how bad it is compared to X, This is one of my favorites. back in the day I did not have arcade or a dreamcast, this was the only fighting game I could get from Marvel. But if you do want a fun bug I found when I was a kid, You can do double specials by rolling from Light to Mid / heavy special. (Easiest with cyclops) The game tries to correct your input, but some specials are so too fast and both come out.
i remember playing this game way back as a kid on my ps1 for jampack i think is was playstation underground jampack fall 2001 cause that one has a other demos there
I used to play the hell out of this game back in the day. I still remember my jaw dropping to the floor when I found out that Spider-Man was in this too 😂😂
I remember when me and my friend used the code to unlock all the characters and saw Prof. X, we immediately tried him out and couldn't stop laughing. Then we did his ultra and just couldn't stop laughing for a full 5 minutes. Weird but fun game back in the day.
