People usually forget it because they were short fights but the spiderman 1, burning house and final confrontation in the destroyed building cemented spiderman to me. Spiderman getting his ass beat in the end with ferocity and the agile dodges of the burning house scene are too good and elevate the movie. Aswell as the uncle ben killer scenes
I rewatched it a week ago. Completely forgot the cable car scene leads into the final fight. It was so brutal compared to, squeaky clean, far from home. Drones with guns and Peter is barely bleeding? Toby was a bloody pulp from green goblins fists.
@@TheIronWristFighters it’s cause they made it I feel real with the sweat in his hair and on his face, the dirt on him and his torn up costume, everything felt like it hurt with the punches and bombs and walls. Whereas nowadays it’s so kid friendly that you barely see punches being thrown and when they are they have no power to them and when an explosion happens all the hero walks out of it with is some dirt on their costume and some coughs with maybe a little bit of paint coming from their nose. However I feel like far from home did a good job at this in certain scenes.
I love Homecoming because Tom Holland looks the part he's 22 but plays 15 but without a doubt, Spider-Man 2 was masterpiece and that train scene always kills it
Rewatched Spider-Man 2 recently expecting it not to have held up over the years. Buy was I wrong. Easily the best Spider-Man movie and probably best superhero movie ever.
I would say spider man 2 and the dark knight are one of the best super hero movies IMO the dark knight is first for me tho then definitely spider man 2 😊
@Donny Nightmare Dark Knight's Joker is the single greatest villain in cinematic history and the only superhero movie with an Oscar-winning performance by an actor. I'm sorry, but what you're saying is blasphemous. Batman Returns does not really have an iconic villain nor does it really present Bruce Wayne with all that much depth. The themes were very well presented in Dark Knight which is more than what I can say for Batman Returns. Takes itself too seriously? This was a movie that needed to be presented in a serious manner.
@Donny Nightmare We clearly have different tastes, and I'm 30 by the way so if someone disagrees with your opinion, they must be some dumb millenial in their 20s who knows nothing about cinema, correct? You can't simply give your opinion without personally disparaging someone for disagreeing. In no way would I consider that over-the-top, campy performance anywhere near Heath Ledger's Joker nor would I consider the He-Man movie comparable to TDK. Again, your suggestion is rather blasphemous. And to showcase just how much our opinions differ, I felt the use of two-face dragged the movie down from being perfection and that he was shoehorned to provide that ending where the cops turn on Batman to lead into the next movie.
@@imaratspal naw. You also have Joaquin phoenix, who ALSO won an oscar for his performance. So no, it isn't "The only superhero movie with an oscar-winning performance"....feel like you purposely left Joaquin phoenix out. In my opinion, they are both equally as great. Heaths joker was more comic based. Joaquin Phoenix was more realistic and grisly.
@@drdoom1756 I was talking about MacFarlane being my favorite Spiderman artist. I meant Lee passed the torch to Todd in terms of talking about comic books and the comic book culture.
Loved McFarlane’s visual style, detail, and linework... he and Jim Lee are the best comic book artists of my generation. However, as a writer he just simply wasn’t very good, even by comic book standards. Stan Lee is and always will be the man when it comes to Marvel, never to be replaced or duplicated.
When Civil War, Homecoming, and Far from Home were released I loved them instantly. So I was motivated to read early and modern Spider-Man comics. The more I read them, the more I slowly started changing my mind about the MCU Spider-Man movies. While they are good entertaining Marvel movies and I think Tom Holland is a great actor, they're not good Spider-Man movies. I realized that Sam Raimi and Insomniac Games had his character pretty damn on point.
@@nerdomatic2489 While I haven't really changed my opinion, I do have to say that No Way Home is the best of the MCU Spider-Man trilogy and that's putting aside the obvious nostalgia. I genuinely liked how Tom Holland's Peter Parker was explored about what it truly means to be Spider-Man. I'm curious to see where his story goes to now that he's on his own.
Yeah man hit the nail on the head with that one. I realized it when I went to see Spider-Man 2 in the theatres with my Italian grandparents. They didn’t understand the movie, but they loved it. Fast forward some years, and they take me to see homecoming and they specifically didn’t enjoy it. Homecoming is just not the best movie if you take away the superhero aspects, spider man 2 on the other hand is a amazing movie first and a great superhero movie secondly and that’s what makes them so good
There's only Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Logan that belong in the good to God tier level of films. Everything else is hot garbage. MCU included.
Raimi spider man's where horrible. Good director, terrible writting and cast. Only good actor was William Dafoe. Tobey Mcguire was the worst spider man. He portrayed Peter Parker as a whiney idiot. The 2 Amazing Spider Man movie's are better and Homecoming is the best of all. Fuck your feelings.
My fav 1: Spider-Man 2 2: Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse 3: Spider-Man 4: Spider-Man 3/TASM 5: Spider-Man Far From Home 6: Spider-Man Homecoming 7: TASM2
Shrek God To many villains, Electro is cheesy, Rhino is barley even there, focuses to much on Peter’s Parents, Focused to much on Peter and Gwen’s relationship. But the outfit? BEST live action Spider-Man suit ever!
I couldn't relate to the new Spiderman. He didn't seem to have any real life troubles that anyone can relate too like Peter Parker usually does. He depended on iron man too much in my opinion and idk its just my opinion but homecoming sucked. I was bummed out cuz spidey is my favorite of all time but homecoming was a big let down.
Exactly. They make this kid too "Gen z"-esque that even people in Gen z can tell it's way too coated with it. As a fifteen year old, I always related more to Tobey Maguire's version than any other film version.
Spider-Man 1 & 2 > Homecoming. Hardly any comic book movies have scenes as iconic as the ones in Raimi's, especially not Homecoming. The upside down kiss and the train fight alone make the first two instant classics.
Well guess what? Spider-Man 1&2 are iconic AND hold up in quality. Randomly bringing up superman movies from the 1970s shows that you have no legitimate argument lol
@@MeruOnYT Look at the CG from those films and tell me that they look good at all. They're iconic, but their dialogue is cheesy, visuals less than stellar and acting hoaky as shit. Also, the Christopher reeve example was just to prove my point about iconography being being completely separate from quality and longevity. Iconography =/= quality and the Christopher Reeve films are an example to prove that.
@@francisariwaodo318 The CGI in Raimi's Spider-Man still holds up incredible well. But unlike most movies today, it relied on practical effects more than CGI, which makes it stand the test of time. You want to talk about bad CGI, Spider-Man looks like a video game character in all of Civil War/Infinity War and 85% of Homecoming. That includes non-stunt scenes.
+Mak25 I think Homecoming overtime has become the most underrated Spider-Man movie imo. It's DEFINITELY better than the 3 Spider-Man films that came before it.
Al's Variety Don’t get me wrong Homecoming is a good movie, but it is not a great Spider-Man movie. Hell it doesn’t even come close to Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. Homecoming is a movie that is directed like a Disney Channel sitcom, lacking in character depth, over reliant on its connection to the MCU, completely void of emotional weight, and completely misunderstands what made Peter Parker so endearing in the first place. Rewatch Spider-Man 2 and Homecoming. Compare the humorous abundance of consequences in Spider-Man 2 to the humorous lack of consequence in Homecoming. What makes Peter Parker so endearing is that he chooses to be Spider-Man no matter how much it may cost him, despite the consequences. Yet in Homecoming his actions rarely cost him anything, the movie is afraid to punish him for anything he does. Sure he loses his crush and temporarily loses his suit. But he abandons his friend at a party, there is no consequence. He blows up a sub shop, no consequence. He abandons his friends at their academic decathlon, no consequence. He skips out on detention, no consequence. In Spider-Man 2 everything Peter does has meaningful consequences. Peter in Homecoming is not making any real sacrifices to be Spider-Man and do the right thing, it just makes it more difficult to empathize with the character.
lmao everyone says homecoming goes back to his origins lmao they don’t even mention uncle ben and it is a buddy cop movie with iron man for the most part
dennismaryanski Yeah but this whole “Let’s attach everything to the MCU” was A strong theme throughout both of Tom Holland’s movies, waaaay More so than any Spiderman Movie. i mean, they basically Had boi waiting Around all day to be called by the Avengers. it wasn’t Like that in the Comic books lol. If Anything, they Wanted Him, but Spiderman kept turning them down Because He doesn’t do Teams. Plus the whole narrative that iron Man “discovered Him”, and Building peter up to Be the “Next Iron” man kind of Mucked up Tom’s run. He caught the Title character At a time where the mcu is the Biggest Cash cow, Instead of Developing the character For his own exploration. Hence why The other films Are so good, Cause it’s Spidey’s world They focused on.
Tyler Davis lmao true but i mean the main villain spawns from iron man, spider-man gets his suit from iron man, iron man is in the movie, most of the movie factors around the mcu and iron man more consistently so it makes my favourite marvel character into a boring part of a bland asf universe
Homecoming wasn’t a good Spider-Man film IMO, that’s Spider-Man 2 IMO, Homecoming just totally ignores the true essence of why Spider-Man became spider man, the lesson of Responsibility, and well I guess It’s a different take but that’s fine
Daniel j. Milburn you mean the consequences of him missing every significant date with the girl he was trying to get because of his Responsibly to being Spider-Man????
I would say it is like the Ultimate comics BUT mostly from Miles Morales run on the Ultimate comics since they took a lot from him and give it to Peter. The way Peter get his suit and has a mentor ship with Tony Shark is similar to how Miles has a mentor ship and gets as well as Ned for ganke
@@MarioUcomics that is kinda true but keep in mind ultimate peter never made the iconic suit either and stark did mentor him just and upgraded his webshooters just like in the mcu before he died
@@MarioUcomics ,That's one of the flaws of homecoming,it simply just take Miles story and just give it to Peter ,that's lazy writing from Marvel/Sony point of view ,instead of creating a new story ,they took the easy way out.
Raimis movies were the closest to the original comics. The mcu spidey is the disney version. I dont hate them, but I was never a fan of how the mcu handled Spidey. Its like they did a 180 with the character. He wanted to quit school. Obsessed with the Avengers and Tony. Relies wayyyy too much on stark tech instead of his own powers. And constantly screwed up in the worst ways possible. Peter was the real villain in all 3 of his movies lol. Its just when I watched those movies, it didnt feel like the Spider-Man I grew up reading about.
George Harry seems like you don’t understand that Peter Parker is supposed to be weird and awkward. To touch on the Doc Ock side, did you even read Superior Spiderman?
George Harry Toby was never creepy and he never stalked anybody in any of the 3 films. The only one that did Garfield’s spiderman when he stalked Gwen. Also, the only time Slott got any backlash for Superior Spiderman was when it started since no one wanted Peter to die but besides that, it was beloved by fans and was a quite a successful run that developed both Peter and Otto.
I’m gonna be honest I rewatched Spiderman homecoming and it was mediocre it had zero rewatch ability factor to me I didn’t like how Tom relying on tony stark and how Toney made his suit and how movie didn’t have stakes at all.
@@forest8779 dude, I can't stand the sight of "MJ" in the new "Spidey" movies.. I don't know if it's just me but she triggers me so much, I despise her with passion. Just the sight of her makes me wanna shove my fist through the screen
i still like spiderman 2 better than homecoming, homecoming lacks consequence, snubs his bro at the party, fine the next day, snubs his academic team, fine the next match, snubs his crush a couple times, fine with her at end - great imagery, great direction, a fine teen movie, but not the best spiderman film. most egregious of all, the villian of the film is tony stark, who doesnt change himself start to finish; in that he fools spiderman into thinking mutant powers arent enough to be a hero, he has to beat the vulture to realize he doesnt need the suit, which he gets at the end anyway, and turns down the even better suit, which he has to get in avengers 3 anyways. also, i didnt need younger single mom aunt may, with no uncle ben or that sense of having had a husband for decades.
jay folk Lool the lack of consequences were a problem for me but even I didn’t realise they went that far. Damn. That aside, the way you paint Tony as an antagonist is pretty weird. Tony wanted Peter to not be reckless. Powers are all well and good but it’s still a dangerous game. What’s wrong with having Peter realise over the course of the film that he doesn’t need a fancy suit to be a hero? That’s called character development. He shouldn’t be an Amazing Spider-Man straight at the beginning. That’s just one flaw in the Raimi Trilogy, or rather just the first one specially. Peter getting the suit back is just a bonus. He now knows that he doesn’t need it and is confident with his own abilities. Him getting the Iron Spider suit in IW really does cheapen the end of Homecoming though, no one can deny, but how else would he get into space I guess. Luckily he won’t be staying in it for long. Aunt May was only elderly in the comics so that she could be sickly and have Peter be worried about her for some easy story drama. Marisa Tomei is over 50 years old. That’s a fine age to play a teenager’s Aunt. We all know Uncle Ben’s story. His absence is still felt with the way Peter and May act with each other. He better be in FFH in some capacity though but somehow I doubt that. Also, I don’t think the direction of Homecoming was anything special. It just felt generic and uninspired to be honest. Doesn’t have the personality of the Raimi films so we’re in agreement on Spidey 2.
I really liked spiderman homecoming but those are all good points, i can accept someones opinions who differs from mine so long as they have reasons nowadays people just hate on things without any reason
You obviously missed a lot. He snubbed his bro because he had a RESPONSIBILITY to figure out what was going on, and Ned just wanted to show off anyway, not responsible at all. He snubbed the Academic team and got scolded by Liz who was just worried about his well being in the end, got detention for ditching and May had a heart to heart because she was Worried! And Liz has to legit move because of Peters actions and again just wanted the best for him. These are all consequences you don’t have to like them I guess but they are clearly there
Homecoming gets away with a lot of shit that fanboys would've crucified any other studio for but since it's made by Marvel and it's part of the MCU, it gets a pass.
Ur dumb. Homecoming the entire film is him learning how to be spiderman and how he must become responsible. The other films breezed past his training with montages. There are so many differences in the other films as well.
BowmansWorld You call me dumb, yet you can’t form full words and sentences. Nice one, kid. Also, you’re reasoning for why Homecoming is good, tells me you literally don’t understand the character of Spider-Man what so ever, so well done.
@@BowmansWorld He should ALREADY be responsible. What do you mean the other films breeze past his training with montages? In Spider-Man 1, we see him discover his ability to shoot webs, crawl on walls, his reflexes, etc and they weren't even montages. If anything THIS movie was the one that breezed past his training. Him learning how to work his new suit is not him training to become Spider-Man.
So in the original spiderman comic, he had a suit that was basically an iron man suit? that he could talk to and stuff? Spiderman 1 and Spiderman 2 are on another level. But of course, every opinion is valid. To each their own.
@@DanielTorres-pw8il A trait of Spider-Man's is that he talks to himself a lot, considerably more than most. His thoughts can easily be considered part of what makes him more relatable as an everyman. There's no need to be juvenile.
@AaronLevine I've said that before. These people either never heard of Spidey or didn't care before 2002. Homecoming doesn't have to be your favorite, but if you think it's "not good", you just don't know the character. I remember when tasm came out and a girl I was dating got mad because they "changed him" ...by giving him web shooters
I find it funny how people says Homecoming is an Iron man Jr movie when in reality, Tony Stark was only in there for a few scenes in 17 minutes, Peter hacked into a million dollar suit to turn off the tracker and find Vulture, and who also, alone with the Homemade suit on, took on Vulture using his strengths and smartness without Tony being there. Ppl is funny lmao
Well guys ( for Homecoming haters) it depens on what incarnation of spiderman you are talking about. Cause from Homecoming that was MCUs version of spiderman which is not bad cause its diffrent. I grew up with the cartoon from the 90s spiderman so that is why i guess i love spiderman 2 more but you can clearly see why Homecoming was better to other people. To new kids who havent seen the cartoon or comics especially.
Homecoming was really enjoyable and fun, but if you say it's comics accurate and true to the character, you probably haven't read any Spider-Man comics. Example: What's Spider-Man's ultimate goal in the movie? To join the Avengers. What happens everytime he meets one and they team-up in the comics? He tells him that he's better off working alone and that joining the Avengers is precisely what *he doesn't want* to do (check 1966-1967 or so comicbooks and see for yourself). They basically took out all the tragic aspects from the character to make him "the kid hero of the MCU". There's not any mentioning of the "power and responsibilities" motto, no feel of guilt... This version of Spider-Man loves being Spider-Man whereas in the original comics he kinda hated the job and often cried at the end of issues because it tore his life appart. However there's been decades of different authors working on the series and each one of them changed the character a little bit so I'm opened to new interpretations of my favorite superhero, as long as the story works.
Red At the end he says he works better as a friendly neighborhood hero. While yes sometimes he hated the job in other issues he talked about the thrill. While the tragic ness isn’t in the level of Raimi he loses his crush due to being spider man, gives Mysterio exactly what he wanted, gets his suit lost for acting recklessly and almost getting people killed. It’s there
So basically the reason why he likes Homecoming the most is because “its fun”. Yeah, I love McFarlane’s work, but cant take him seriously about movies.
1. Spider man 2 2. Spider man 3. Spider man homecoming 4. Spider man into spider verse 5. Spider man 3 6. Amazing spider man 7. Venom 8. Amazing spider man 2
Finally. Someone else is saying it and it’s my man Todd. Homecoming is a perfect Spiderman movie and that’s the truth. No nostalgia or nostalgia bait. It’s perfect
Not that anyone cares, but Spawn was the first movie I ever saw on the big screen. I was about seven and my brother and me were already huge Spawn fans just from the action figures. At the time I thought it was absolutely amazing. Not so much these days.
Spiderman Homecoming belong with ASM2 and Raimi third. It’s not even a story about Spiderman, it’s an Ironman Junior the movie. Spiderverse, Spiderman PS4 & Raimi 2 is at the top.
@@zynostik5873 Well said. Your point on HC being better "made" is a good observation and something I have been thinking about recently. What do I care about more; a supposedly "good" film or a film I find interesting beyond surface investment? Maybe according to rotten tomatoes or popular consesus or whatever HC is "better" but it's not necessarily more interesting. Spider-man 3 has revelant themes, amazing action and even manages to wrap up the character arcs in a satisfying way despite the series being cur short. When Harry dies was the first time I cried at a film. When Peter forgives Sandman. This film is deeply emotional far more than whatever HC can cook up.
@CousinAngel29 they were peers more than anything. Bouncing ideas off of each other and working together. The advanced suit was also just a cosmetic change. MCU Peter just got two high tech suits for nothing. It would have worked better if Peter made the Civil War/Homecoming suit using Stark's resources. I can best describe it as the old man giving Link the master sword from the beginning. Nothing earned.
Oh I want to get a list in 1. Far From Home 2. Homecoming 3. Spider-Verse 4. Spiderman 2 5. Spiderman 6. Spiderman 3 7. The Amazing Spiderman 2 8. The Amazing Spiderman
Man, I like Todd, but come on, Spider-Man 2 is THE absolute best Spidey film and a Peter Parker character piece. Homecoming is a film influenced not much by originality but by the films that came before it. It’s influenced by the need to be different instead of taking what’s inextricable from the character and make those facets it own.
There’s some crazy-ass Spider-Man lists here. But I really liked TASM 1&2 Electro was just poorly cast. I really like S:HC too, but it had too many spitting-image sequences from the other Spider-Man movies.
@jon pork nah love spiderman in all forms just think tasm movies are the weakest in entertainment value but don't get me wrong they're still fine movies just prefer all the others better
Electro wasn’t poorly cast he was poorly written. Jamie Foxx is a very talented actor if you’ve seen Collateral and his other stuff. He could easily pull off Max if Max was written better.
Raimi's Spider-Man 1 and Spider-Man 2 are equitably the best Spider-Man movies. The one decent adaptation of the character in the MCU was in Captain America: Civil War.
Back then I would have said the Raimi stuff, but nowadays I’m more hooked on Amazing Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield was such a good choice imo and people give him way too much shit because Spider-Man wasn’t a paragon right at the start lol Andrew Garfield and Emma Stones chemistry in both those movies trumps Tobey and Kirsten same goes for Zendaya and Holland.
Tobey and Kirsten’s relationship in the Raimi films is basically non existent and the portrayal of MJ is the worst thing to be tied to Spider-Man in film aside from the black suit stuff in 3. Zendaya and Holland barely have any scenes together and thus come off as barely a relationship.
I like Tom Holland as the character, but the MCU has taken Peter completely away from the struggles of being a teenage Spider-Man. Being mentored by Stark, and getting Stark designed suits, takes away a lot of what makes the character interesting. Now it's just a kid in a billion dollar costume who happens to have powers. Why not just put him in an Iron Man suit and call him Iron Man Jr.?
I must have 300 Spiderman comics. I can't remember any panel that implied Aunt May could put up a fight against Tombstone, much less launch him across the room.
I like the new kid as Spiderman, but for some reason I didn't really feel Homecoming. It was okay but they really need to let it loose for the next one. We got through his first big fight, now let's move on quickly and get to the epic stuff...none of that bullshit like Venom.

Homecoming? Really? No....that CGI spidersuit looked like shit....the design was great but they overdid the CGI looked campy and cartoony. And the story had it's moments but they really undersold Keaton with a thin character....a cheesy written bad guy with a good suit design. I'm sorry, but Raimi's spiderman movies had more depth and used a live action suit in most of the shots, that's how you do it. It looked better.
homecoming is good bc it's different; it's a movie that draws from the comics, it's not the actual comic on a screen. uncle ben, power and responsibility, traditional villains, that's all been done ad nauseum, homecoming was a fresh look at the character and the story, which was needed. no one wants to see the same thing over and over.

Homecoming was super overrated. Spider-Man may be a light hearted character that makes quips and such, but he's not a complete joke like he's portrayed in Homecoming. He has many serious, consequential moments and problems that come with being a hero that are portrayed much better in the original trilogy. There were hardly any stakes in Homecoming and it felt like almost every scene in the film was played for laughs. This being said, I found Far From Home much better than Homecoming in this regard.
Here Goes My Spider-Man Movie Rankings... 1. Spider-Man 2 2. Spider-Man 3. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 4. Spider-Man Homecoming 5. Spider-Man 3 6. The Amazing Spider-Man 7. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Homecoming was a great movie, but a bad Spider-Man movie. It was fun and enjoyable, but you can barely even call it a true Spider-Man film. They completely brushed over every thing that makes him Spider-Man. There's no differentiation between his personality as Peter and as Spider-Man. He's basically given a less complex version of an Iron Man suit, which does everything for him. The best parts of Homecoming were when he had his home-made suit and had to actually think for himself. Again, a fun movie, but a terrible Spider-Man movie.
The movie shows no faith in Spider-Man himself by shoehorning Iron Man into a large supporting role. Spidey is no longer an independent genius who builds his own costume and equipment, but he borrows it from Iron Man and then whines when Iron Man takes it away. But, hey, Iron Man will be good for marketing, despite the fact that his character hasn't been written well for three or so movies. Spider-Man dreams of becoming an Avenger. Spider-Man is supposed to do NOTHING of the kind. He is a superhero out of guilt, obligation and responsibility. He became Spider-Man precisely because he learned that the pursuit of fame, fortune and glory was a folly. Peter Parker does not have some obsessive desire to join with any group of people. He is very independent. For decades, countless Marvel superhero teams would've been glad to have him join his ranks. It's not them stopping him from joining, it's his choice. He is a LONE warrior. Something he TAKES pride in. If something goes wrong he would BLAME HIMSELF, not others and not the Avengers. Spidey now has an annoying comedic sidekick who knows his identity (!). Something Spider-Man needed never. Peter Parker was supposed to be the classic loner in high school, not simply part of the "geek clique." It's crucial to the Spider-Man character that Peter Parker starts out from a VERY weak position in his personal life. The movie features insipid, teeny-bopper dialogue better suited for an ABC Disney channel sitcom. Because dumbing things down for the multiplex set beats literate dialogue written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Alvin Sargent. Peter Parker is now a whimsical fool, behaves like a toddler, bears no maturity to the comic Peter who matures way faster and has the mind of an adult by the time he is 16, has certain expectations of other heroes to accept him, and is overall a pest. Aunt May, Liz Allen, Flash Thompson and Ned Leeds steal names from famous Spidey supporting characters but bear absolutely no resemblance to them. It's great when they find actors who look exactly like their comic book counterparts. Then there are the times when they don't even try. Spider-Man: Homecoming is a disgrace to the character because it bears no resemblance to Peter's character and ultimately has EXTREMELY ASININE SIMILARITIES to Marvel's Ultimate Miles Morales' Spider-Man run because... 1. Miles receives his equipment from someone else. 2. Miles is an immature kid but at least he isn't as childish as MCU Peter. 3. Has a fat Asian friend that knows his identity. 4. Short and overall a small teenager. 5. Wants to join the Avengers. 6. Receives mentorship from other Spider-Men, such as Silk. 7. Works for SHIELD. If you think he is similar to any of the Peter's at all, you have never read a comic nor have you ever understood his character at a deep level because you simply don't relate to him.
@@user-kt4cg2fn7l Oh piss off would you. I love this character to death and seeing him in such shambles upsets me and anyone who really understands the character. Makes me wish that I could be a director and screenwriter some day. Which I might intend to pursue..
Spider-Man in the Raimi films wasn't a genius either. He didn't build web-shooters so the only thing he did make was his suit. If we're being honest, the smartest live-action Spider-Man is The Mark Webb one. Considering he built his own webshooters and suit. Spider-Man became a super-hero out of guilt, however, he has long since gotten over his uncle's death. Ben may have started him down that path but, contrary to what Raimi illustrated, he doesn't keep him on it. Spider-Man wants to help people, which is why he still is a super-hero. You can love the OT as much as you want, but Uncle Ben shouldn't have been relevant after the first film. Spider-Man is an avenger by the way. Has been for a while. Spider-Man was in high school for something like 30 issues. Not to mention that we barely saw any of it anyway. We don't know what Peter's high school life was like for sure. We know he got bullied, but it's a little unrealistic to think he didn't have friends. Also, Homecoming draws heavily from the Ultimate Universe and Ned comes from there. He is based on Miles' friend Ganke(Which you mention) to say Peter Parker has never had someone like that is ignorant. He is still in a weak position. He still gets bullied. He still gets ignored. He isn't doing great. Comic Peter behaves like an adult because he has to. He's the bread winner. he juggles being Spidey, keeping his grades up and getting pictures to Jameson. He isn't an inherently more mature character, as shown by his interactions with his classmates and his interactions with people as Spider-Man. Aunt May, as a character, is extremely inconsistent. Not only in the movies, but the comics too. She's been painted by Raimi and Webb as this extremely kind, flawless person when she was in fact an extremely strict and unreasonable person. She gave Peter curfews, wouldn't let him go outside when it was dark and persisted with the notion that he was extremely weak and fragile. Her doting gave something for Peter to work around. He had to be careful not to upset Aunt May, not just because he cared for her, but because she would actively punish him for it. She was also very weak minded, believing anything Jameson or anyone else says, pitting her against Spider-Man and adding to Peter's pressure of keeping his identity a secret. Liz Allan (spelled with two As and not an E) serves almost the same purpose as in the comics. She's a love interest. Bland, forgettable and eventually forgotten when Peter moves to college. Flash Thompson also serves the same purpose. He's a bully. Funnily enough, having Flash be the big, cliche, hulking brute he was in the comics would go against your opinion that Homecoming is too similar to a summer rom-com antagonist. Ned Leeds has a bigger impact on the plot of this movie than He had on anything in the comics. This movie is better off without him. I don't think you know what asinine means. These similarities are either huge stretches or entirely deliberate. Peter receives equipment from someone else. Of course, He's based off Ultimate Spider-Man. Immature kid. ...Yeah, they're both in their mid-teens. Fat asian kid. Taken directly from Miles Short and overall small. Miles grows up. Peter was also a skinny teenager in the comics. He was something like 5"7 at 15. I don't know where this whole "Wants to join the avengers" thing comes from. he doesn't actually want to join them, he's just looking for excitement. He's looking for action. Stopping street thugs is kinda boring and he wanted a taste of the danger he saw in civil war. What other Spider-Man does he receiver mentorship from? He's the only Spider-related hero in the MCU He doesn't work for shield. He's just being watched by Tony. Saying that someone involved with the Avengers works for SHIELD is like saying every hero in the Marvel Universe works for SHIELD. He isn't the perfect representation of Peter, but he sure is the closest we've gotten to a teenage one on the big screen
@@francisariwaodo318 Look it's not about being a young teenager, but it's more about capturing the essence of the character and his natural persona of being alone and self sufficient which is not found in the MCU Peter. He is far too comical, foolish, and childish. He is shown as if he needs to be supervised and held like a baby until he is faced with an ultimatum by his idol and dad, Uncle Ben replacement, Tony Stark. He learns the lesson of being and independent hero, which should have been established as a starting trait, not something learned later because that is his one defining trait in the comics after Ben's death. He works mostly by himself to find the killer and keeps that work cycle for the rest of his run until he is forced to join the Avengers as it is best for the people, but he still isn't a subordinate. He's a witted member, not a dumbfounded man child. The solo films worked because Spider Man is supposed to be solo.
@@TheRobloxianTacoLord "Spider-Man is supposed to be solo" 5 decades worth of comic books disagree with you there, bud. Spider-Man can be solo, he normally is solo, but to say that he is supposed to be solo actively ignores a lot of his history. I see a lot of people missing the point of Homecoming and Tony's inclusion in it. He's there to serve as a mentor figure and not as Spidey's catalyst or motivation. I don He doesn't set Spidey on the superhero path nor is he his reason for continuing his superheroing. He's there to provide the young, inexperienced character with a foil. This is honestly one of things I think the movie did poorly. Iron Man was supposed to be a mentor but barely showed up in the movie. Spider-Man isn't a subordinate in the movie. He works solo, but is bored and looking for excitement. He follows orders from Tony because he's working for him but because: 1. Tony's holding the suit over his head. 2. Tony's his ticket to action and excitement as was the case in Civil War. 3. He's just a kid who wants people to like him. Even then, when action shows up and he no longer needs Tony to supply it, he disobeys Tony and goes after the fight. Partly to stop Vulture and partly for something to do. He's 15. Calling him a man-child is factually incorrect. Even then, Spider-Man acts very immaturely. The solo films don't work because he's solo (look at the last one). If the Raimi films existed inside a cinematic universe, with a cameo from another superhero, I don't think it would affect their quality
