16mm film showing 1970s Auckland Traffic made by Reynolds Television Productions for NZ Ministry of Transport. I transferred this from a 16mm film in my possession. My Uncle Harold Killip was involved in the making of this film with family acquaintances of his playing some of the parts. I suspect this was a rejected test copy, the colour balance was very red, I have tried to improve it a little.

Auckland was ok back in the, never great but ok, now it's just a badly planned, characterless mess of clogged roads and unfriendly faces.

Hurts to read that as a born n bred aucklander but at least we mix n mingle with different races and cultures that Auckland has makes us also appreciate trips out of Auckland...

Yep. Auckland was destroyed by the yuppies of the mid 80s well aided by a dickhead city council.

I was there growing up in the 70's. Would buss into city, watch Bruce Lee & Clint Eastwood movies with friends from school. Buss home with connecting busses through New Market & Onehunga back to Mangere. We were 11-12 years old. Toward late 70's I was riding motorcycles to night school, Auck Tech, and going to seedy night clubs with friends. Great memories of my youth.

Judging by the number plates on many of the vehicles (Gx xxxx) This was made in 1974.

Cool footage mate, I've rode on the old bus trams from the old original railway station by vector arena.. every now and then the bus driver would have to get out of the bus and hook the poles up that connects the bus to the lines above because every now and then they would disconnect and no one complained, its just how things were in those days, it was normal, no big deal, unlike some of the petty things people squabble about these days. Any body would think that the blimim world was going to end, but in reality, it started raining and you've forgotten your umbrella, ohh dear..

That kid must have been about my age. Thanks for the memories. 1974 it seems as lots of 73 and 72 reg cars. Flared trousers. Ten speed bicycle, new XA Falcon, very flash Jaguar XJ6, the old pedestrian crossing push button plates, old parking meters still asking for sixpence (5 cents)! I remember the endless trolley buses up Dominion road. Love all the HQ Holdens, the XY Falcons + station wagon! All the so familiar buildings in town. Cheers.

I dig the "groovy" sounds, especially the 1950's brass. Note at 08:42 the blatant riff rip-off from Led Zep's Whole Lotta Love, where they get with the times, only 5 years late, LOL.

A trip down memory lane.. judging by the make & model of vehicles in traffic during this film I noticed "majority" of cars & trucks were 1960's models.... THEN I spotted a couple of 1972 XA Ford Falcons & HQ holdens in traffic so at best guess it's some sometime 1972 this film was made. Brought back cool memories of growing up as kid in late 60's to mid 70's!!! 👍👍😊👍👍
