What is UFS? Past, Present and Future of frame mounting 

Did not think I would want to watch a 30 minute video on UFS but here I am. Your enthusiasm is contagious!

Dude I have been having the hardest time deciding what skates to get. Hard time understanding the frames and such. And then when the UFS finally clicked in my brain I figured out I could get an Agro skate and put a freestyle frame on it…. Fml. I’m learning what can I say.

Oh dude this is just what I needed to see. After nearly 10 years out I decided to get back in the game... Yet my blades are an older style pair of gyro's! And I've got new wheels that aren't ground down to the frame and un-rusted bearings coming in the mail which cost a pretty penny (thank f for black Friday sales). But the soul plate and frame is the Salomon style! I had no idea how to find the right kind but this gives me something solid to search for because the gyro's just don't exist anywhere in the internet, probably anywhere in general! I honestly just came in for a passing interest but damn! Now I can learn either what to do to modify what I've got. Or find something 'good enough... Or both. Truly I should've just got a pair of aeon 60's because these weigh an absolute tonne but... I know these! Thanks even if it was unintentional haha

@back to blading have you seen a T-Tra ck.. if the sole plates had a t track and the frames had T wings on the bases to match .. some sort of stopping system to lock the frames in place.. we could do away with UFS. And you could slide frames with wheels already on in place.. if you have anti rocker or freestyle frames for grinding and big wheels for aggressive recreational Skating...you could swap them in seconds as apposed to minutes

I just got Powerslides Imperial One 80 and needed some info to know if I could change them into 3x110 frames. Now I feel that I am ready to continue my research efficiently ! Thank you very much !

I went to Woodward in 1995 give or take and remember being introduced to the 5050 metal (wrench) grind plates. They were fresh on the market because we couldn't get them anywhere else before Woodward. Was this your first product...These were amazing grind plates...

Amazing! I picked up an old pair of RB chocolates on eBay for nostalgia sake and I'm thinking of trying to mount an M12 soleplate to the bottom So I can then mount the frame of my choice and have the ability to grind a little better.. Thoughts?

How the problem could be solved with the removal of the nubbins is that they can be transformed into bolts. 20mm head, 3mm thick, 5-6mm length to reach the movable nut inside of the shell, with a hole in the middle that would essentially be the opening for yet another bolt - that of the frames themselves. So essentially you'd get a bolt-in-bolt concept, where because you can move the nubbin itself (bottom bolt when changing the frames) you can make a frame standard that's backwards compatible with the current and old UFS Standard, while making way for a new, revised UFS standard that can have any length that is needed to operate functionally, by just moving the frame attachment bolts (top bolt when changing the frames).

Hey, dig the channel. getting back into blading now that the kids got their first pair of skates and are enjoying it. I have some 5th elements on order thanks to your reviews but picked up some old Rollerblade TRS DT4 to get my legs back. I see bolts connecting the frame to the boot (revets for the soul plates). Do you know if these frames are UFS on the old DT4 skates and if they can be swapped out with readily available frames?

@30:30 ish....what if the UFS bolt head was in the boot side of the sole and the frame only had a countersunk, sealed in bolt. Obviously, you need to be able to access the bolt through the boot, which some may not allow you too (SEBA comes to mind), but all the boots where the liner can be moved would work. There might be a need to revisit the 167mm, I'll play with idea and try to make a prototype with the spare XSJADO stuff i am trying to buy at the moment

If I bought a ground control mounting bolts and t nuts could I use those bolts along with a roces frame to mount on a roces boot?

Remz 2.0 have a sliding adjustment for the frames to the boot/soul.

i have some old Julio Psirus USD in need of new frames, they have the old red 50/50 ones, what do i need to do to make UFS frames fit my boot??

A circle with a 20mm diameter has a radius of 10mm.

Is it possible to take a frame from an old inline skate that is riveted with a 10 point mount and mount it to a UFS compatible boot? Are there adaptor plates or any other methods you could suggest? Many thanks

Why can't frame manufacturers make the UFS bolts countersunk, would it make the mounting points of the frame too weak? Also: you've made frames yourself?? Make a video about that!

This video is nuts to me. My first skates were the K2 fattys, my next were the Roces 5th elements, and my last skates as a kid were the RB TRS downtowns and you mention all three right in a row. If i were like 5 years older, I'd probably have the mount rushmore right there. Question for you though. I'm getting "Back to Blading" myself after 12 years or so gonna build myself a custom skate( btw the Fattys were my favorite skate of the 3) so, boot only - K2 Unnaturals, RB TJ Pros, USD VII, or Them Skates?

why 41mm and 167mm? was that linked to manufacturing constraints or mould already developed? 40mm, 165 / 170 mm would seem more "natural" as well as easier to set up : middle channel is 20mm rather than 20.5mm, likely with 170mm (85mm). Do you remember the reasoning between those?

sorry but the pleasure tool frames are not 195mm mounting compatible. the distance between the rear to the first hole should be 180mm afaik.

We need a way of mounting that's quicker and easier. Not that it takes forever now, but why not progress. I wish I didn't have to take the wheels out of my flat setup to change frames. Maybe some sort of latch and lever in the soul plates...

but if the frames are movable, the frames wouldn't sit tight anymore. plus old ufs frames will be no good to newer boots, and new boots will all have to be revised
