@@skilled-person Hey, hahaha! Good point, BUT the glass material is maybe throwing people, it's a simple everyday comparison to showcase some key UX thinking. The Glass ones are actually very well insulated / designed, and you don't feel the heat at all through it. Unlike the traditional porcelain ones.

@@AJSmart hmm, good point, see like i said before: Good UX always strong with you have marketing mindset, in this example if you emphasis the double sided glass feature and how it protect my hand from the heat, this could be value proposition for this item, i consider buying the glass one after knowing this, [Request] how about making a video about UX Strategy: Content Strategy, because most people focus only on Design part but we both know "Content is King" :) thanks for the replay

Great video, always nice to watch the stuff you guys are doing! From my POV I think you are missing a quite important point about UX: expectations of users, so everything BEFORE actual usage. Most of what Dee talks about is actually UI Design, not so much UX. Of course UI is a vital part of UX, with usability and aesthetics again being a vital part of the UI. But knowing and meeting the expectations of the user is what makes a good experience. Using the coffee cup example: if the primary need is „having a well decorated and perfectly looking breakfast table“ than the white cup might eventually result in a better UX than the glass one...

The most important point is double glass the first layer won’t get hot and you have full hand to handle it. The design is unique and different. Was a clever safe useful design. The white mug is traditional because human brain work everyday in circles we get used to do the same everyday that why you feel safe about the white mug but don’t worry the glass mug will give you the same work as the white one. It’s about opening the clients Appetit to try the new product.
@yuripravdin4567
@yuripravdin4567 3 года назад
@@lillykeule5416 I just like the handle, it feels cozy. With the clear one, it doesn’t feel nostalgic, it feels like a glass of water. I get where you are coming from, thats why i think design needs to evolve slower. Slowly transition into new ideas without making the user think they are radical.

I think if the glass cup had a handle, I’d go for it. But if I walk into my friends house, have a sudden want for coffee, and see these cups side by side, I’d go for the mug. Great definition for UX design! I also have 10+ experience and always face with a standard scheme in vacancies which is not practical in reality. Regarding the presentation, for me best UX design works without any explanation. That's why I only create clickable, tappable prototype and give to my colleagues, developers, managers, etc. without explanation or user flow schemes. If anyone asks a question, I go through that part again refining, simplifying it, till there is no question from anyone. At the end the design looks very simple and clear to understand and mainly it does not make users think.

Many people have told me to get into UX design. However, I have some reservations that lead me to ask a few questions: 1.) Is this often a remote position? I live away from almost any tech company and don't really want to move due to family, friends, etc. 2.) Is this a people intensive job? Will I be around a lot of people, talking to them, engaging them, etc or can the job be done relatively remotely? Generally speaking, would it be groups of 20 or more I would be around? 3.) How is work often doled out? Do I have a week's worth of work and need to get it done in a week? Basically, do I need to work 9 to 5 Monday through Friday, or can I work on things anytime I want as long as I get it done? Thank you for your time in trying to answer these questions.

as i do agree with most of what's been mentioned, an important factor that goes into play is what does a user think before they analyze a product, and this can go both ways, but if a user wants to get coffee, one thought would be, familiarity, and having something like the white cup draws the attention, clear glass is more commonly used for colder products such as juices, so users might not even notice the insulation. another thing is habituation, no matter how terrible the handles is, the first thing that comes ti mind is, a cup without a handle is gonna be hot, so for me the white cup is surely a winner, third point would be durability and life, clear mans fragile, solid means, well solid. yet again i could be absolutely wrong but it's a point of view

What's the key performance indicator for UX design, how does company tell if this is a good design or not? The difference might not be very significant sometimes.
@AJSmart
@AJSmart Год назад
Great question! You're right, UX design can sometimes seem a bit abstract when it comes to measurement. However, there are several KPIs that can be used to gauge the success of a UX design. For example, metrics like session length, page views, and actions taken on a page can give insight into how users are interacting with the design. If users leave a website quickly or without interaction, this might suggest that the UX design isn't meeting their needs. How often do users make errors when interacting with the interface (high error rates can suggest usability problems) Conversion rate is another great one - whether it's signing up for a newsletter, making a purchase, or any other desired action, the rate at which users complete these actions can be a strong indicator of good UX.

Honestly, UX design as a field is completely unnecessary and useless. They dont really "create" or "design" anything. A good designer is able to determine if something is useful, accessible, etc. Yes some ux people make wireframes, but if you ever look at them, you might as well just hand over a list of things that need to be designed. Typically UX people are wanna be designers but just arent that good at design, so they created this new field to feel like they matter.

Quick background: I do not have ANY design experience, I have been working as a software support rep for a small software company, and I am looking to make a career change (into software design, duh). My 3 year experience as the support rep has been instrumental in pushing me toward exploring UX design. 1. Where would you suggest I start-- in learning, practicing, and applying? And what is the natural progression into the UX field? 2. Is it realistic to be both a UX and UI designer? UI sounds more appealing to me (sexier), but UX seems to better fit my skill-set (take 'skill-set' with a grain of sand). 3. What resources should I be considering? Any good books or online courses? 4. What qualities and experience make a good UX designer? 5. Any other advice you'd give to an aspiring UX designer? Thanks!

In the coffee cup example, does it matter what the target market is? What if the target market for a business were customers that specifically wanted nostalgic or antique products? Would the user ability and design outcome, in comparison to the glass coffee cup, still be in favor of the more modern glass cup in your example? And would the comparison now have to be between only antique products? I'm just trying to learn. I'm not even sure if looking at a market is even part of UX. Thanks

the handle is for pick the cup if something is hot inside it. The glass Cup is not as usable as the white one. UX -> deals with All User Types with Any circumstance not for specific ones or for specific circumstances. Peace

So what kinda of skills/qualifications do you need to get a job as a UX designer? I currently work as a graphic designer and was wondering if UX design might be another career option for me.

Thank you for the useful information! What types of keywords or companies should I look into for more of the physical side of UX (observing people driving or in an airport)? I’m really interested in this side of UX not just web or app design. Thanks for any insight as I am beginning my journey!

Hi Dee! I want to know how involved is the UX designer in designing the final product, like hands on the developing, background and the final look and feel. As a UX designer is it required to be a graphic designer or a developer? Thanks.

But what about my hands? I love to warm my hands on a nice cup of coffee. Can't do that with the double layered glass design. Even though it looks really nice. 😥😞

There are a lot of phases to go through in UX and UI design process. In research phase, there are various research methods available and many steps to take to achieve a meaningful result. I would like to better understand, what UX research methods would be the most appropriate for projects in these cases? 1. Website - New website - Existing website - adding new pages, sections, updating any part, redesign 2. Web app -New web app -Existing web app - adding new pages, sections, updating any part, redesign 3. Mobile app - New mobile app - Existing mobile app - adding new pages, sections, updating any part, redesign

I must say, the glass cup doesn't look attractive. How do I know that I can handle it with my hands if the coffee is super hot?
@mutluisi8349

If it is designed as a double layer for cup heat, yes it is true, but if it is not, it will not be useful to hold the cup without handle.

I don't agree that Glass is having a better experience than the Coffee cup. so the point is here you have to find the audience or user which you are going to target. because as you said there are two kind of people 1- Is the Person like you, who is the favour of Glass Shape without Handle. 2- Other person like me who are in favour of Cup with handle (I know the handle needs to be redesign and make it a better one.) In this kind of situation, you have to do a "Guerilla User Testing", Most of the Research company does this. its really a simple and cost effective method. Guerrilla testing is a means of gathering user feedback by taking a design or prototype into the public domain and asking passersby for their thoughts. Due to its simplicity, new ideas can be tested quickly and at a low cost, making it a valuable UX testing method.

If this is what used in every company is it going to make them overlook niche markets of people who just like stuff for what it is?

I would still choose traditional cup. I think that UX highly depends on the focus group. People value aspects of products differently. So i would say that evaluating a product is not that black and white but good video, thanks i learned a lot.
