Great explanation! I have a question for years now. If my camera has a max bit rate of 100 Mb/s, and I use a Micro SD card of a max write speed 60 Mb/s, I realized it still works, but what is really happening there? Am I loosing quality? Any answer is greatly appreciated.
@AKIOTV
@AKIOTV 3 года назад
The SD card speed is in mega*bytes* (MB) per second, while the bitrate of the camera is given in mega*bits* (Mb) per second. One byte consists of 8 bits, so the speed in MB is 8x higher in Mb. 60MB/s is therefore 480Mb/s, so the sd card just has plenty of speed.

So when someone tells you it is a Full HD, 2k or 4k video, it's incomplete information... As I understood, bitrate should come as an essential information in everything.

Does it mean 60 fps Or is it something different ? Thanks Keith Please answer that question and I will subscribe. I also am a RU-vidr KK motion Pictures

Why does the video need to set a bitrate? It seems the computer CPU is the potential bottleneck and should determine the bitrate based on its processing capacity...

If my camera records 24mbps is that the most I should set my vbr2 max bitrate?
@AKIOTV

It depends. Generally though, for video distribution, eg RU-vid publishing, you can get away with far lower rates. (I personally have all my videos capped to a max of 20mbps)

which video edithing software do you use
@AKIOTV
@AKIOTV 6 лет назад
Believe it or not, but all of the animations etc you see in this video were made using ms PowerPoint. The editing software that I normally use, which is also the one appearing in the video at 2:40 is called Hitfilm 4 Express. It's probably one of the most advanced editors that you can get for free.

Bitrate suggestion are for video only or it can be apply in live stream ?
@AKIOTV
@AKIOTV 4 года назад
You could use those rates for live streams, but usually people pick something lower for streaming because your internet upload speed needs to be greater than the stream bitrate. I'd say for streaming, cut the rates in the video in half and you should be fine.

I was searching for that kind of involving into the Bitrate Spec. Now here is my question, i will record videos in kinda dark indoor enviroments with artificial lighting, i need FullHD at 60fps, you say 25Mbps is enough for this, thats still valid for 2020?
@AKIOTV
@AKIOTV 4 года назад
If your camera is good it'll be fine. On a noisy image though, if there's too little light for the camera, the noise could be a problem. However, that noise would be a problem at any bitrate, no matter how high.
@T-FLoWW
@T-FLoWW 4 года назад
@@AKIOTV Got it, i m planing to have an F2 lens to overcome the noise, but the Bitrate is eating my mind for last couple days, i m still researching for the right camera.. Thinking on Fuji X-A7. Any suggestions?
@AKIOTV
@AKIOTV 4 года назад
@@T-FLoWW At least you're going to want a camera with a sensor that is as big as possible. That Fuji has an apsc size sensor which I think is pretty acceptable. Most of those mirrorless cameras in that price range have sensors like that and they're usually quite good for low light. Personally I film on a camcorder with a tiny sensor, which produces a grainy image in all but the most well lit conditions.
@T-FLoWW
@T-FLoWW 4 года назад
@@AKIOTV Yeah i guess an Aps-C will handle the dark scenes with more light on sensor with an F2 lens, i think i ll purchase it or any other competitor on the market soon. By the way thanks for your lightning fast response and suggestions.

Wow and I thought setting my bitrate to 200mb while recording 4k was bad ass on my note 8. Guess it hasn't done much other than take up space
@AKIOTV
@AKIOTV 5 лет назад
Well maybe on a really big high quality monitor you could see the difference. Also, for editing purposes it can be useful to capture as much data as possible to minimise the quality loss after adjustments.

Ok. So im watching a football game ( streaming) and the bitrate starts at 4100 but by half time its 3100 and looks not as good. Is there anything i can do on my end to keep that bitrate where it was originally? Amazon firetv box. Thx.
@AKIOTV
@AKIOTV 6 лет назад
That's probably because the internet connection of that it uses isn't fast enough. Is it using wifi? Because in that case it might help to use an ethernet cable instead.

@@AKIOTV Running on wifi. 12mbps upload spd.
@AKIOTV
@AKIOTV 5 лет назад
That should be fast enough. I haven't got any experience with those amazon boxes, so I'm not sure what the problem could be. It's even possible the bitrate of the stream just dropped, in which case there's nothing you can do.

Why is this filmed in 50 fps and not 60
@AKIOTV
@AKIOTV 3 года назад
That's what the camera did. It's sort of a european standard. (eu 25/50fps, us 30/60fps) has to do with european/uk power grid operating at 50hz so when filming at 30 or 60 fps you sometimes see lights flicker. In the us it's the other way round; the power grid operates at 60hz so filming at 25 or 50 can make lights look flickery there. Not that it matters here, if that camera had a 60p setting I could have used that too.
@achrefgaming3377
@achrefgaming3377 5 лет назад
thx and so if i lower my bit rate it makes my video bad i guess?
@AKIOTV
@AKIOTV 5 лет назад
Not necessarily, sure if you use 300 kbps on a full hd video it looks awful, but using slightly lower bitrates doesn't have to look that bad. For example, having a full hd video at a bitrate of 3 mbps would be on the low side for 1080p, so it wouldn't look great, but it also wouldn't look absolutely terrible. This could be useful when you need to save disk space, or when you're live streaming and your internet connection can't handle a high bitrate. Sometimes using high bitrates is simply not an option. For my videos, I found 15 mbps to be a fine number, since the quality looks good enough to me, my computer can render those videos quite quickly, and RU-vid goes up to about 12 mbps for full hd videos. It's all about finding the right balance between performance (what can my computer/storage, my internet connection, the platform/streaming site handle) and quality (does the video look good enough). It's up to you to decide where you draw the line. That can take a while btw, just experiment with different bitrates until you're satisfied.
@MatrixAlphaCWX
@MatrixAlphaCWX 5 лет назад
Maybe MillCreek should watch this. And stop making all their dvds 2mbps bitrate and give us the average 6-9 😂😂😂 cuz what we have now is a blocky mess.
