I have wilfully sinned as a Christian who has accepted Jesus Christ, but I ask forgiveness. Like Paul said, "I do the things I am not supposed to do, and don't do the things I am supposed to do". We all sin after we have become Christians and yes, many have wilfully sinned. But I don't believe Jesus said to Paul, "Depart from Me, I never knew you". If Paul did things he was not supposed to do, then we are not greater than the Apostles. Repent, ask Jesus Christ for forgiveness, and do our best to not let the flesh take over for that time. Lust is terrible. That is a big one.
you dont ask for forgivness, you believe the gospel record of 1.cor 15/2.cor 5,18-21 :) you are forgiven, christ died for all you sins, you part is it to believe it. Willfully Sinning is Denying that Jesus is the Messiah. Hebrews where saying the accepted Jesus but where hedging their bets by sacrificing a lamb also.. Paul was saying if your sacrificing a lamb you did not belive I was the LAMB. Cheers
And I’d like to add, we can also go to the throne of grace and receive grace in time of need, for not only has Jesus purchased our forgiveness, but He also ransomed us from its power (control and authority) over us. Thus we can ask for Him power to overcome. But having said that, it is a life long struggle in the sense that, when you’ve achieved freedom by the power of the Spirit over one besetting sin, the layers get peeled back and there’s more work yet to be done. I believe the author is talking about Christians. I also believe he's talking about if you reject the salvation plan, after been converted, GOD will not send another JESUS per say, to sacrifice himself again. His Grace is sufficient to keep us all.
There is not one single Christian that has not willfully sinned since they were born again. As long as we are in this flesh we will sin. “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:” 1 John 2:1 KJV
Exactly these people seem to think they can physically stop sinning which is absolutely absurd they will try to use terms like willfully sinning when in reality we all do it everyday Jesus Christ is the one that can save us.
You will know your fate of salvation when the judgment begins in the House of God. When Jesus says "Good job my faithful servant or I do not know you, depart from me you evildoer."

Really? I could’ve sworn this verse was about the temptation of going back to the old covenant sacrifices for the covering of sins. That the burnt offering sacrifices are no longer valid in God’s eyes. There are no more sacrifices that God recognizes beyond the sacrifice of Christ.

No doubt Lordship Salvation will be discussed in the comments, so here is the truth ⬇️ Lordship salvation is the only biblical salvation. The Bible is clear that we must accept Jesus as both our Lord, and Saviour. Romans 10:9 ⬇️ 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is ridiculous to believe that God calls us to confess Jesus as Lord, but that one could just say these words with intellectual assent. This is dishonesty, and God does not call us to dishonesty. He is very clear. This confession is an outward expression of an inward recognition that Jesus is Lord of all, and if Lord of all, then Lord of each of us. We can only accept Jesus, as who he actually is, Lord. The Bible is also clear that works are the evidence of true saving faith. James 2:17 ⬇️ 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. The context in this passage is saving faith, because James actually quotes Romans chapter 4, where Paul is talking about faith for justification. This is unmistakably clear. While repentance is not a work that earns salvation, repentance unto salvation does result in works. It is impossible to truly change your mind without changing your actions in some way. In the Bible, repentance results in a change in behavior. That is why John the Baptist called people to "produce fruit in keeping with repentance" (Matthew 3:8). A person who has truly repented of sin and exercised faith in Christ will give evidence of a changed life (2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 5:19-26; James 2:14-26). It is NOT a works-based salvation. We are saved by grace alone, through faith, alone, and the evidence of this saving faith is a lifestyle of righteousness. How many works does one need? Anyone who asks that question doesn’t understand the concept. It’s not about how many works, but rather about has a person been born again and transformed. The Bible is clear that wilful, habitual, unrepentant sin are the marks of those who are not of God, but are of the devil. 1 John 3:7-11 ⬇️ 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. 8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. 10 By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. This is historical, biblical, orthodox Soteriology. Easy-believeism, cheap-grace (as opposed to free grace), or Santa-salvation, whatever you want to call it, is NOT biblical, and is in fact a dangerous heresy. What they call “faith” is actually really “mental assent,” not faith at all (far from it). Mental assent does not save you!
The historical context of this passage is, starting at the beginning of verse 10:1. Then you will see that the willful sin is going back under the old law. If we reject Jesus and go back under the law, then there is no more sacrifice for sins. Do not start at verse 26. You must start at the beginning of 10:1. Then you will have the full understanding of what 10:26 truthfully means. This chapter is talking about Jesus who is the new covenant. We are no longer under the old covenant. Read from the KJV, authorized version.
Which Christ took upon Himself ever since His willing sacrifice and resurrection, that whosever believes on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. We put our faith in Him because He paid the price for our failures of the past, present and future. We can't work ourselves into heaven. Only Jesus Christ can do that for us, and His work has already been done.
@@1John3.8 Christs reconciled us to God, so that we will live in righteousness before Him; whoever will not do so, shall be cut off. So likewise, you, when you shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which is our duty to do.' Whosoever will come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off... if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off... if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it off. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire. If a man loves Me, he will keep My words... he who does not love Me does not keep My sayings. Every branch that does not bear fruit, He takes away... If a man does not abide in Me, he is cast away as a branch and withers, and men gather them, cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If you love Me, keep My commandments... you are My friends if you do whatever I command you... if you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love. Mortify, therefore, your members which are on the earth... for because of these things, the wrath of God is coming upon the children of disobedience. And whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord you shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for you serve the Lord Christ. But he that does wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done; and there is no respect of persons. For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you should abstain from fornication; that every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; not in the lust of concupiscence like the Gentiles who do not know God. If we say we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth... he who says, 'I know Him' and does not keep His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in Him. Whosoever commits sin also transgresses the law... whosoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him... he who sins is of the devil... he who does not practice righteousness is not of God. He who does not love his brother abides in death... he is a murderer... no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death. He who overcomes shall be clothed in white raiment, and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before My father and His angels. Here is the patience of the saints; here are they who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walks naked, and they see his shame. And behold, I come quickly; and My reward is with Me, to give every man according to what his work shall be. When you were freed from sin, you became servants of righteousness... if you live after the flesh, you shall die.
@@1John3.8 Christ did not pay for future sins. Colossians and John's epistles show that Christ's sacrifice covers sins that were committed prior to conversion and the present, which is why Paul explicitly teaches against the false evangelical doctrine that God's grace replaces the responsibility to live according to His laws(Rom. 6:11-16).
@@theeternalsbeliever1779 Which false religion taught you this? We are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It's simple as that. Of course the law still applies. Jesus Christ fulfilled it. We will all be chastised and judged for our lives, but those who believe on the Lord will be saved. Whoever believes on the Son will have eternal life. Paul talks about this plenty. The gospel of John talks about this plenty. Faith in Christ, who is the way, the truth and the life, is the ONLY true "religion" since the beginning of time that DOESN'T rely on personal works for salvation. No amount of effort can save one who denies Christ's work on the cross. Our judgement will come according to our hearts' understandings of God's work. Either Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins, or He didn't. Everything that follows is a result of our faith in Him or denial of Him. Christians follow the law because it's the will of our Father in heaven. We fail to follow it because we're messed up and NEED Jesus Christ. If the Father sent the Son to pay the price, it would be a pretty pathetic gift if He took it back when we make mistakes. You should really consider where you're getting your information and stop believing that God is whatever sad excuse of a false idol you've been told is the creator of the universe. Repent and believe in the gospel. That's it.
@@1John3.8 John didn't stop after verse 18 3:19And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God. 36Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. To merely say I believe while loving darkness, and living in unrepentant sin HATES THE LIGHT by not obeying the Son. Repentance followed by obedience results in a lifestyle change that is saving Faith.
I think what the writer was saying that if you are walking in disobedience you will not enjoy the new life in Christ but live in fear because of your sin....
Genuine born again believers cannot lose salvation because God gives his life to the believer and seals them with the promise.. God did the work and maintains the salvation that he gives by guarding, guiding, and guaranteeing their salvation.. people who fall away weren’t genuine, they had saving knowledge but their hearts were set on self indulgence and worldliness and idols etc and not on following Christ.

Hebrews 10 is dealing with those who are struggling with trusting in the blood of Christ and still doing animal sacrifice. The warning to them is , the blood of animals does not take away sin. However the Hebrews are still leaning on the animal sacrifice system. Hebrews 10:11 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: Hebrews 10:4 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. In the others words the sin they are doing is rejecting Christ blood !! Which means NO SEAL !! (EPH 4:30) Hebrews 9:13-14 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
To willfully sin is to reject the knowlege of truth concerning the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is speaking of unbelievers who go back to the law by animal sacrifice after hearing truth and not trusting in the blood of Jesus to cleanse them. There remains no more sacrifce for these people because they have trampled the son of God underfoot and considered his sacrifice as common thing. They'd rather be justified by the deeds of the law instead of faith.
@@theeternalsbeliever1779 No, What's asinine is not reading scriptures in full context including the prior passages leading up it, and coming out with faulty interpretation. Which in turn leads to a false gospel. Hebrews 10:26 was written about unbelieving unsaved Jews that reject the message of the gospel of Jesus, and go back to animal sacrifices, instead of accepting Christ as the only sacrifice.
@@MysterioB you stated: Hebrews 10:26 was written about unbelieving unsaved Jews that reject the message of the gospel of Jesus, and go back to animal sacrifices, instead of accepting Christ as the only sacrifice. my reply: no my friend the writer of Hebrews address them as "brothers" meaning Christians. See previous verses, Heb 10:19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Heb 10:24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, Heb 10:25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
The Shepherd of Hermas (2nd century) addressed this problem for the early Christians. People who believe that they cannot be forgiven will find great consolation in this vision given to Hermas.
You're discussing what eventually became the Donatist controversy. This occured after the Church married the State under Constantine and referred to in Revelations prophetically as the Church of Thyratira. You do an excellent job of exegesis, as usual.
It really blows my mind to see the amount of Christians that hold on to the once saved, always saved fallacy. I wonder if this is the greatest lie that Christians generally believe or is it the lie that everything in the gospel is all about them, all about getting them more stuff.
We have to further examine this verse to not be confused about the effectiveness of Christ's sacrifice. It means that if Christ's sacrifice does not call you to repent of your sins... there's not going to be a more overarching overture than that which Christ made in his sacrifice. If you struggle with sin do not lose confidence in Christ's sacrifice being able to remit that sin upon your repentance. The fact that Christ was raised from the dead is proof that his sacrifice was sufficient to win the victory for everyone (whosoever will; however many will).
I was struggling with this passage and then I realized, so many of the sins mentioned in the Bible were willful by some of our definitions, yet forgiveness is implied. Then I recalled when I read Ambrose's work against the novatians. That said, my sin still haunts me, but the best I can do is put all my eggs in the basket that says Jesus's sacrifice is still sufficient for my sins
John 10:27-29 KJV My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. KJV: King James Version
@@heymichaelcDon’t confuse a statement of truth for a “condition”. This is a regular pothole in people’s interpretation if they don’t view the Bible as a whole. Jesus is telling us what will happen with His sheep, they will follow Him. You can tell them by their following. Even if I’m wrong you’re inserting your own definitions for “follow” and “hear” in if you think this verse is saying you must obey perfectly and never sin again to keep your salvation. “Follow” does not mean never sin again, and there is not a shred of evidence it means that. The Bible is quite clear that salvation is accomplished by God through the blood of Christ. You didn’t do anything to earn it, you can’t do anything to unearn it. Jesus says in John 6 “I shall lose nothing”. There is no ambiguity in His statement and it doesn’t requiring reading in my own definitions to make a conclusion.
@@JordanBWatchGuy When I said there is a condition upon the response, it means just that. the response "my sheep hear my voice and follow me" (they obey my teachings), the condition "eternal life". Your response "You didn’t do anything to earn it, you can’t do anything to unearn it." is another deception that has infiltrated the church. Joh 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. Once again there is a condition upon the response, obedience = eternal life. You can't have faith in faith itself, nor can you have faith in someone whom you do not obey. Heb 3:12-14 Take care, BROTHERS(Christians), lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. 2 Peter 3:17 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. Romans 2:4-11 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS: to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation. Once again, you salvation according to scripture is dependent upon your obedience to Christ. So you might want to rethink your philosophy of "I can't do anything to lose it".
Those who tend to reject the “harsh severe scriptures” and direct them to someone else other than themselves, are the ones who wish to hold on to their sins and still have the BEAM IN THEIR EYE spoken of by Jesus !
Exactly, Hebrews being the name of the book may indicate that Paul was addressing the Jewish converts warning them not to go back to the old system of sacrifice
Absolutely! The correct context of Hebrews 10:26 Is that those who were sinning and all sin is wilfull...they were going back to the old ways, sacrificing the blood of bulls and goats, instead of trusting in Jesus' work on the cross 💯! And there remains no more sacrifice fir sins, just means that Jesus ONLY died once in that He's not going to keep coming back over and over dying on the cross each time someone sins. Jesus paid it all in full once!! God bless you.
That is biblically false. We have hope like Christ did that we will be raised from the dead, just as He (Christ) was. I can't believe with the amount of scriptures to support it, you think we go in to judgement as we die. And what is the resurrection of the dead for if the dead already have their new bodies. In Thess. it says no one will preceed another in death. I'm very disappointed 😞 that you are supporting that view. Look up sleep or sleep in Christ and you will see the evidence to support the resurrection of the DEAD.
Good interpretation, these early Believers had come to faith in Christ and had placed their trust in Him for salvation. However, there were Judaizers who were trying to persuade these Believers to forfeit their faith in Christ and to seek salvation by going back to obeying and following the Old Covenant law of Moses.
This is false theology. The "Judaizers" were Pharisaical converts who demanded that ppl be physically circumcised in order to be considered save. One of the passages that reveals how little you actually understand Paul's words is 1 Cor. 7:19 where Paul tells the Corinthians to live by God's commandments. By your own logic, you must consider Paul a Judaizer.
As of yet I have not been convinced that this verse can be explained away, even though we’d all like it to be. Someone who never truly put faith in Jesus was never truly “sanctified”, as specified in verse 29. It’s possible that the meaning of the verse is exactly what it looks like it says. If it convicts you, good. I’ll take the hard truth that leads to life over the easy lie that leads to death.
”Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.“ Hebrews 10:18 NKJV Remission: the cancellation of a debt, charge, or penalty. "the plan allows for the partial remission of tuition fees"
This is speaking of false converts as it is impossible for a regenerate believer to fall away. The rest of Hebrews addresses this so it would be contradicting itself otherwise. They "appeared" to be part of the church, like so many today, but alas were not and finally after "pretending" to be a part of the body of Christ, walked away from it (apostasy) and cannot be saved obviously. This passage does not, contrary to many passages, teach that true believers do fall away, but rather teaches that those who make a profession, know and experience the truth and then apostatize will be damned forever with no chance of repentance. It's impossible for a true believer to leave Christ.
Someone should open a window and let some of the wrong out. You're obviously a Calvinist. Read your Bible again. This time, do it in context. And stop listening to the TULIP crowd.
Galatians 5 is also a confirmation that," if anyone lives like this, they will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. That's for drunkers, fornicaters, idolaters, etc.
For those who disagree with Lordship salvation, below are the facts ⬇️ Lordship salvation is the only biblical salvation.
But they were Washed by his blood…. “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” Psalms 32:1 Their sins he will remember no more to those who believe
Amen. Great conclusion. I like to listen to the teachings of David Pawson sometimes and he made a very similar conclusion as you did. I believe its accurate.
They went out from us because they never were of us. I don't think we can say that genuine believers can or will or would walk away from Christ. Satan roams about the earth seeking whom he can devour, he seeks to decieve "If possible even the elect of God" Are we elect of God? Are we saved by the grace and mercy of God through Christ? Is it as though God has failed, is failing when sinners reject Christ or when seemingly born again sinners walk away from Christ from His church? They went out from us, Why? Because they never were of us. Who is the us? Those whom have been born again from above. Made alive justified adopted made sons and daughters sanctified by the word and the Holy Spirit.
The passage in 1 John that you are referencing is referring to specific people, namely antichrists. Furthermore it doesn’t say they were never if us. It just says that at the time they departed they were not of us. So, they mate have been of us once but at the time they departed they were not of us.
That's not the least bit true, as the history in Rev. 2-3 shows truly converted Christians walking away from Christ. Chris even tells the Laodiceans that they are rejecting Him(Rev. 3:20). The entire reason why all of the exhortations to remain grounded in the truth exists is because Christians can choose to reject Christ. For crying out loud, Paul and John's epistles show whole congregations rejecting Christ in the late 1st century.
You stated "I don't think we can say that genuine believers can or will or would walk away from Christ. " my reply: there is no such thing as a genuine believers scripturally. Bible is clear many believers will be deceived. They love a form of God, but do not know the Word themselves and are easily led astray. The scripture is dealing with Antichrists’ and false teaching with those who believe bring another gospel, not aligning with truth. Read the whole passage in context. Also, a little further down 1 Jn 2:24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. (warning to believers that their faith is based on choice, not a predetermined salvation). Calvinist love to have their cake and eat it too.
@@AlizaDasha God only gives the Holy Spirit to those who obey Him. To those who do not obey the truth, He reserves wrath and indignation, thus damnation.
I think the verse does not direct talks to gentiles. The book was written for Hebrews. I think that's the point. Thats why it says narrow is the gate. It wouldn't be narrow if billions of self-proclaimed Christians were going to heaven when they died. Clearly works in the context of obedience and sacrifice are required as a result of saving faith. In fact, I think the works are produced naturally as a result of said saving faith.

The part here that needs to be pointed out is “there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins.” Paul was talking to Jewish believers. Paul is saying the law is gone. If you return, there is literally no more animal sacrifices to cover your sins. Jesus has done away with your previous way of getting forgiveness. You either accept Christ’s sacrifice, or you have no sacrifice at all. It’s either accept Christ or there will be judgement. Galatians 3 ”Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. **But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian** for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.“
How do you respond to the point I made about the word “wilfully”? I proved it was possible to do something under compulsion and pressure and not willingly.
you stated: "If you perpetually willfully sin you never had your salvation." my reply: the WORD disgrees with you, Paul warns believers in the church: 1Cor 6:9-10 (Paul writing to the church) Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? DO NOT BE DECEIVED: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. Eph 5 (Paul writing to the church) But AMONG YOU, as is proper among the saints, there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or crude joking, which are out of character, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure, or greedy person (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Gal 5:16-21 But I say, (Paul, writing to the church) walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I WARN YOU, AS I WARNED YOU BEFORE, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor 15:1 Now I would remind you, BROTHERS, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you-unless you believed in vain.
@@heymichaelc I agree that no believer can continue practicing in those sins but someone who commits a sin that is not unto death must confess the sin and ask for forgiveness. (1 John 1:9) With time and a sincere desire to turn away from the sin(s). Then there are those who think because of grace and the false belief that all future sins are already forgiven can continue to live anyway they want and sin all they want. Some go so far to say IF you're not sinning you are trusting in yourself. [Free grace teaches that perversion of grace]
The important thing to remember is that if any person comes to.Jesus and repents they will be welcomed. They will never be turned away. Whosoever Will may come and drink freely. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Even James, who’s book on Christian etiquette is very scary says “we all stumble in many ways” Even Paul himself says “Not that I have reached perfection…” Admitting to have faults, these admit to fall into temptation, and make mistakes. Anyone who sins does so ‘willfully’ while there are mistakes that are completely accidental, if we could not be forgiven for our wrong doing then we would not have grace to begin with. The Old Testament would be a better deal, cause at least then we could receive forgiveness. But no, we have a better deal because we have more grace and now even God dwells with us, fellow shipping with us. Not only cleansing us of our sins judicially, but cleansing our hearts and minds so we can better serve Him. Freeing us from the sin that once entangled us. What a joy it is. Do not believe the devil, you CAN repent! Pray every time you get tempted, or think about it, look at it, fall into it, etc. (with lust I prayed every time I got tempted, looked, or caught myself thinking about it, or had a thought enter my head, and it has worked!!! Praise God!)
This scripture says about when we sin willfully ; there is no more sacrifices but JUDGEMENT. The judgement is what i kept on pondering. For john 5:24 says we passed the judgement. But here it says we will go through the judgement. Or maybe both the scriptures are meant separately and does not connect with each other. What do you guys think?
Surely there would be many instances where we sin unknowingly, otherwise Christ misspoke in asking for us to be forgiven because we did not know what we were doing?
Its not losing your salvation, its forfeiting it. Someone can absolutely do that. Thats why Jesus said to continue to abide in Him. If we don't, He will chop us from the vine, and throw us into the fire. JOHN CH 15 v 5-6 With regards to the wilful sin in this passage, it appears that Paul is talking to believers that tasted the knowledge of the Truth, but went back to the old ways of animal sacrifice, instead of trusting in Christs redeeming blood. If you did that, how can you be forgiven?
@escallite I understand that you're a once saved always saved person. You should read the verse I showed in John 15: 6 more carefully. It says "If" we remain..... IF. You see that? There are people who were connected to Christ. Jesus is the Vine, we are the branches. So if people dont remain in the Lord He chops those branches off, who once abided in Him, and throws them into the fire. And IF we remain in Him, we will live with Him forever. The Lord gives you a choice friend. That's why Jesus said, "Don't make me come and erase your name from the book of life." He died for ALL MEN.

@@heymichaelc Hebrews 3:12-14 KJV Hebrews 3:12--- The author of Hebrews ( Paul, I think) is addressing Jewish believers ( brethren). Believers can fall away from the living God in the sense of fellowship and loss of intimacy, we can never be completely separated from Him. ( ref. Romans 8:35-39) We may fall away from Him, but He will never forsake us ( see Hebrews 13:5) Hebrews 3:13---- The author to the Hebrews is warning that there are severe consequences for going back to Judaism. But that does not include loss of salvation, but rather loss of fellowship with Christ. This is a warning of chastisement. In Hebrews 3:14 the word " partakers" is a synonym for fellowship---- fellows. This understanding of Hebrews 3:12-14 keeps salvation by grace completely free, and it also rightly distinguishes between the believers aftertimes faltering condition in this world , vs his or her perfect unchanging position IN Christ..
When Paul says we he is referring to the true Church. There are among us those that profess themselves brother but in due time they will leave and manifest that they were not of us, the True Church.
The willful sin of Hebrews 10:26 is defined in the previous verse: Hebrews 10:25 "not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Notice it mentions the "Day", speaking of the Day of the Lord foretold by the Old Testament. Paul says in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 "Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the falling away occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction." So the sin of Hebrews 10:26 can not even be commit as the man of lawlessness has not been revealed yet, so relax. Hebrews to Revelation deal with a different period of time entirely, once God returns to saving Israel as it is written (Romans 11:26) after the fullness of the Gentiles comes in (Romans 11:25). This has not happened yet, but it will soon, once the Body of Christ is complete and gathered to meet the Lord in the air.
Heb 10:23 is about confession of hope, as the Greek word will bear this out. I hold the same view as you have presented the scriptural basis that this verse, Heb10:26 is 1. For believers. 2. This sin is not a general sin but refers to unbelief. Where I hold a different view is 1. This unbelief is the unbelief in the eternal hope of Yah. This eternal hope was described as the promised land in the Old Testament and His eternal rest in Heb4:5-6, Heb4:11. This unbelief in Yah's hope is the same hope Heb10:23 asked to confess about, and repeated to confess in Heb4:14. 2. Heb11 explains that this hope was what heroes of faith looked forward to but did not receive in Heb11:39 and is described as the hope of a better resurrection in Heb11:35. 3. Heb12 further sheds light on how this willful sin can occur as it equates to choosing a carnal lifestyle (Heb12:16) over Yah's chastisement described in Heb12:4-11 that causes the believer to lose their firstborn inheritance. The warnings about disqualification to enter Yah's Kingdom (as firstborns) found in 1Co6:9-10, Gal5:19-21 and Rev 22:15 resonate with this loss of inheritance. This loss is not about losing one's salvation in Christ Jesus. So this loss of the inheritance can occur due to unbelief in the hope of a better resurrection, which is the inheritance of the firstborn sons among Yah, following in the footsteps of His Son, who is His Firstborn Son. Also, this loss is the loss of the soul, loss of soul salvation and not spiritual salvation, which is when one is spiritually born again by Jhn3, Rom10:9-10, and Eph2:8-9; one cannot be "unborn" spiritually. Heb10:35 supports this soul salvation claim Heb10:35 - "But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul."

You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has neither seen him or known him. Little children let no one deceive you. Whoever “practices” righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a “practice” of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a “practice” of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not “practice” righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. Paul calls out the obvious sins to the church body: The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. Any Christian has a responsibility to repent of blatant sin. Even the secular world would consider most of these sins as unacceptable. Another similar verse. 1 Cor 15:1 Now I would remind you, BROTHERS, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you-unless you believed in vain. Col 1:22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, Col 1:23 if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.
What if someone makes a profession of faith then leaves the church and walks away from Christ, maybe they don’t stop believing in Him entirely but then realizes they were wrong and genuinely repents, forsakes their sin and returns to Christ never to leave again.
Stop sinning wilfully. Repent and Jesus will forgive you. Kneel and Confess your sins and tell Jesus you are sorry and ask Him for forgiveness and cleansing. If you are sense alarm bells and that you are in danger and need to repent then repent. That means you are being convicted and called to repent. Do not harden your heart. Fall to your knees and confess your sins. John 16 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me Isaiah 55 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Hebrews 10 26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
An outward profession of faith is not necessarily saving faith. It must match the heart. It is the heart that matters. If someone is genuinely born from above they are secure in Christ and can know they are saved and have eternal life - 1John 5:13 A person who has eternal life cannot lose it. If they could lose it then they would not have had eternal life but temporal life. God doesn’t offer temporal life. He offers eternal life! If a true believer could lose eternal life then their fate would be determined by trusting in what they themselves do instead of trusting solely in what He did! Trusting in any part of one’s self is not trusting solely in Christ, which is what is required for salvation. If someone falls away from the faith, they never were saved. They may have been in the church circle and associated with believers and followed the church “things” but that doesn’t mean they were saved. They may have played the part and professed faith but their hearts were far from Him - Matthew 15:8 What are your thoughts on what Jesus said on the cross? “It is finished”? If a person’s works don’t save them to begin with, then how can lack of works lose a person’s salvation? Salvation is a gift. A gift cannot be earned. Romans4:4-5 “Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,” Ephesians 2:8-9 “8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast” Shane
They are still forgiven for their sin even if they had left the faith, the context was about the jews were using the older methods of sacrifice, while Paul was telling them that they should accept Jesus Christ as he is the new sacrifice for men.
John 16:9 In-Context 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
It refers to the believer. If you read in chapter six it says definitively those that were enlightened and tasted the heavenly gift and goodness of the word of God, and received the Holy Spirit. Those are believers who were already born in the spirit and had tasted the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The reason why they can’t be forgiven if they continue to sin willfully after is because they will have committed the one unforgivable sin which is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. They would be knowingly disobeying God in their conscience and that is a deliberate act of rebellion against God.
Of course Calvinist who watch this video are all breaking out in hives and convulsing as they attempt to refute everything you just said. However, you're absolutely right. Good on you.
