Yes ! I always thought the 3-3-5 scheme fit best for WVU. Every time WVU goes with a traditional defense it fails . Elite D lineman are tough to come by unless you’re a Blueblood program which WVU is not . Doing things outside the box and blue collar mentality is WVU Culture .

I'm 63 years old, and been a WV fan as long as I can remember. So I spent many a Saturday watching this guy do his thing. When I watch those games from back in the day, it seems like they were played a million years ago.

One of the greatest to ever tote the rock, imo not only at WVU but across the CFB landscape. Even today running for over 1k yards in 4 straight seasons is a pretty amazing accomplishment. Walker, Murrell, Amos, Avon, Quincy, Kay Jay, Steve, Wendell, Crawford, Leddie and now CJ and co...I'd say we've been pretty blessed to have enjoyed such a tremendous string of successful RB's over the years

We’ve definitely had some good ones. WVU has 5 of the top 6 rushers in Big East history (of course, that includes Pat White). They are: 1.) Avon, 3.) Pat White, 4.) Noel Devine, 5.) Amos Zereoue, 6.) Steve Slaton. Ray Rice is number 2 from his days at Rutgers.

I'm sorry, but NB did not fix the elephant in the room, DC. He picked his buddy to start with and the writing has been on the wall long before NIL was the excuse. Starting, good players do not leave a program because they aren't getting playing time, they leave because they don't believe in the coaches and schemes or doesn't believe the best 11 players are being played. NB had the chance to fix this when he brought in an OC, which was about time, but he refuses to fire his coaches. Compound the fact the AD is a figurehead, and this is where we are with this team. They really need to bring in an innovative AD like the league brought in an innovative commish to lead it, and find someone who has been there and done it with power 5 schools for HC, I am done with small-school-hope-for-the-best coaches. It's like they say: for every small entrepreneur who succeeds, you have dozens who did not. I don't care if they have to bring back HCs that succeeded here, then left. Lyons screwed up extending NB with a rediculous buyout, and we need to negotiate getting him to leave; he promised he would resign if he couldn't turn the program around, and we are half way through year 4 with every possibility he doesn't win another game. Just in the Big12 alone, we have seen programs turn around within 2 years. Enough is enough.

Just thinking, everyone talking ab the defense being great for the past few years while also saying “they lost a lot of talent” is unknowingly kinda admitting that Lesley probably isn’t the guy for the job

Hey Couz! Thank you Avon! We need another defensive coordinator, and Casteel would be great, Justin. Avon also said, WVU won't go for that. Why? The big Troy Connection, and maybe Lyons? Also...like Avon....I'm always taking my team....no matter who we play. But as I have stated....as a fan....I want to be more competitive in the Big 12. Since Brown...we have not had a good season. Avon said something which I thought...he's talking about was West Virginia Spirit.....and we need it badly. Later. Go Mountaineers.

Don't hold your breath folks but I think the basketball season is going to be just like the football team. Huggs and Neal have the exact same problem (no offense though Neal went outside for an OC to fix it, and lose more starters to the portal than anyone else). Huggs is at least FINALLY embracing the portal which shows he is slightly less stubborn than Neal. They are both stubborn and hard to play for - thus the mass exodus of players. Athletics across the board are down at WVU for the next 2-3 years.

@@CouzsCornerSports Couz, I hope I am wrong as well. I don't like to be right about things like that but I felt like Huggs should have stepped down after last season. He looked frustrated and frazzled by season's end. I saw a little of that after the Bowling Green game again. Neal and Matt Moore had me punching the wall in the first season. I did like Vic Koenning's defense and then poof - suddenly he's gone. He's the only Troy staffer that I thought really raised the bar a bit. Neal never stepped up his staff when he moved up-league from Troy. He just gave all the Troy guys huge raises. That's one of the reasons I say he is a stubborn know-it-all. He only hired Graham because he knew he was on the hot seat and had to do SOMETHING. And look how much better the offense has been! Get Neal out of the way and they suddenly play better.

Would like to see Wv go after. Deon sanders. For head coach. Think deon could restore. A lot of great things at Wv football. The guy knows his. X and Os Saying that as a Suggestion. Think deon could recrute players. Who can compeat. At top level of collage football who knows he. Just might consider it at this point Wv football Needs hope. I grew up in Florida and lived and worked in W. Va. So the past couple years have been disappointing for me with my teams ... WVU, UF, Miami and even FSU to a lesser degree. UF with Mullen was going through what WVU seems to be going through right now and UF, as I pointed out, just fired its coach during the season last year.

@@Cbcw76 if success in college football is only measured by NCs, then there’s only a few good teams. That being said, Colorado has a National Championship. I guess they are a good program? WVU is 15th all-time in wins. We are not accustomed to 4 straight years of mediocrity. We are accustomed to winning at least 7-8 games per year, being ranked in the top 25 and competing for a conference title at least once every few years. That’s our standard of success.

@@Cbcw76 Yeah you are right we don't have a National Championship true but we are the most winningest that doesn't have one. If we would've beaten Pitt when we played OU that night we could've beaten any team in the Country that night forsure.
