Low key, I think straight up doing reruns of old good videos might be a hidden strat. I’ve talked to people who did this in the podcasting and it did numbers.

topic compilations/reruns should be the meta. a content creator ive been following for a couple years now does this over his christmas break; if you fold it in with either your holidays/slow period, you can take time off whilst still maintaining income/views & maybe even increase numbers (depending on quality of backlog)

Don't use Adblock or Adblock Plus. Amongst other reasons, Adblock uses 4x the amount of memory that Ublock Origin does, it's owned by an ad company, and the recent slowness was caused by them pushing a bad update due to how they handle getting around some types of ads.

Yeah, i was just checking the ram usage and the memory consumption was CRAZY almost 2gb for just 1 tab open. I ruled it off as it just being opera gx being updated but unoptimized until i saw this video.

Like others have mentioned it was a bug in the Adblock extensions. Shout out to ublock origin for not being terrible software. Open source quality extension that didn’t have this issue.

it doesn't "seem like" it's not youtube's fault. it's categorically not youtube's fault. it was a bug with adblock and adblock plus (which are the same thing under the hood). if you're using either adblock or adblock plus, switch to ublock origin. it's open source and doesn't let companies pay to have their ads pass through the adblock.

Weren't people using other adblock services like Opera GX and Brave's native adblock having issues as well? Seems like an issue on RU-vid's end that only ublock have figured out

@@Broken_Mesh context: youtube added disable adblock to people it detected adblock on. next adblock blocked that popup. than youtube upped their game. so adblock did to but goofed so it started slowing everything on your browser really bad. ublock origin did the same but without the bug. adblock fixed the bug kinda and is trying to perfect it. hope that helps the timeline for you. but ya. you can use adblock again and not get that disable adblock pop up. ublock origin works well too.

The smart tv thing is real. Not like the creator places more ads, but 1-2 skippable ads on desktop/mobile are replaced with 2-5 ads, non skippable for 40-60 seconds

I experienced that for a day or two,. The thing is I have adblock for other reasons than RU-vid since I have RU-vid Premium. I haven’t searched to see if one gets affected regardless of premium or not, as long as it detects an Adblock installed.

Something i noticed is that in december you had to watch double ads even if you skipped the first one (incredibly annoying) but much more confusingly over the past few days i've been able to insta-skip some ads. Like no 5 second wait, the skip button is just immediately there

I don’t really believe it’s not RU-vid’s fault because RU-vid has this thing where it plays less ads on longer videos if you watch like 5 unskippable ones at a time. Yet I still seem to get ads every 3 minutes on a 2 hour long video. Even videos that are demonetised play ads like, why would the RU-vidr just play ads that they don’t make any money from?

The smart tv thing is weird tho. On my phone I get 1 normal add before a video, I can skip ads and if I cant theyre not longer than 10 seconds. On my smart tv I sometimes get 90 seconds of different ads back to back to back and all are unskippable

This has already been proven to be Ad Block’s fault, not RU-vid’s. There was a bug in the code that made your CPU work way harder than it should. Get with the times fam

They've been adding 50 second unskippables on my TV. And this fucking adblock slower is a pain.. i added some extension h64tify or smt like that and it was at least a bit quicker

I run an ad blocker to make the internet in general usable. I also pay for RU-vid premium because I use the service enough to still want to support it and also like to watch it via the app on my phone. The slowdown is STILL applying to my browser which wouldn’t be seeing ads anyways because of Premium, and seems to still do it even when I pause the blocker on the whole domain.

Creators actually don't have control over ads on RU-vid TV, or at least not full control. I can guarantee TFS does not run ads on DBZA for licensing reasons but sure enough if I watch it on my TV there will be ads playing.

I just went back and watched the best acquisitions of all time vid and it reminded me that Atrioc used to just make his slides live as he was presenting them for marketing monday. And when you watched it live there were always 10 minute breaks where he tried to find a tweet or something among his thousands of open tabs. It was fun to spam BOOMER but I can't say that I miss it.

I had this issue but after turning off both "Allow some non-intrusive advertising" and "Allow ads on specific RU-vid channels" in the AdBlock settings it fixed the issue.

Anyone else notice that skipping the ad after 5 seconds doesnt skip the next ad anymore? so im stuck there for 10 seconds pressing two buttons just to start a video. Its so annoying. At least keep the skippable ads on the second ad. Really annoying.
