I lived in oahu as a young 25 year old. Traveled to Maui and mostly camped and hitchhiked, didn’t spend much for a 3 week vacation! Now, at 60, I’m planning to go probably to the big island for six months, with my wife and 4 year old son. Shipping my car, as car rentals are crazy there. Rents are very high too, but I’ve done well these 35 years since I left Hawaii, rented our house in Vegas, we’ll rent a small2 bedroom there.
