Amazon pays terrible for drivers. Good place for beginners but if you want money. Don’t work there. It’s $50k a year. I made more as armed security ($70k)
I’d definitely do this after I’m done with Otr. Time is the most important thing we have and there’s a lot one can do with 4 days off. School, another job, etc.
Ok, I work for TOM team at Amazon and you actually work 4 days of 10 hour shifts , they train you to get your CDL for automatic only. The pay depends on your area. And Amazon hires a 3rd party to train you for CDL school.
idk how carrier choice work. but with tom. there isnt a commitment issue. just know if you fail via carrier choice. then nothing will happened but with tom. you get demoted/get placed back inside the Wearhouse @@johnmarkmagpili8417
In reality, no driver works for Amazon. They provide the service to Amazon. They are subcontractors who are renting those trucks with that name, but they work for the company that is hired to control the driver. They pay from 22 per hour depending on the State to a maximum of 24 per hour. That is the reality. They work 13 hours a day and work three days. Overtime is very difficult, very rare.
@@kanechandler8148but for that low pay? If my days at my fulfillment center can get as high as 10 hrs and i can pick and choose 3 or 4 days already with only such a small pay bump i wouldnt take that. If i am in a semi going state wide i better get paid more or get lots of ease with payment and no trucking business bs
They actually have CDL drivers that are Amazon employees. They work for the TOM department. Most of the time while I worked there as one they had me yard jockey a lot.
Remember to keep grease on your fifth wheel and check your pin on the trailer making sure it isn’t crooked or damaged. You should be all good for the most part
I was with Walmart for 20+ years. We were paid to sleep on OTR, and was also 32 yrs as a local SoCal driver so I had seniority. I medically retired a few years ago. Walmart was a good outfit, but there was only 2 others in that time that I loved working for. Gordon Trans in SoCal, and RLT when I lived in Redding Ca.
Congrats I’ve been trucking for 11 years now. We are a dying breed so stick with it the end results are amazing. To stay humble do what a 50 year Trucking vet told me. Think about whatever it is you could be hauling to save, protect or transform lives.
@@solarlight10 that’s cause you weren’t raised by a Man who taught you never to give up. Do research on JB Hunt he dropped out around the 8th grade. Now look at his legacy one of the largest trucking companies…
A 40 cent raise switching from night shift warehouse to day shift tom and a 50 cent raise every 6 months. No wonder truckers are struggling financially. 1 dollar per hr extra finally came for inflation but that's it.
And when their safety people see her not turning the jack handle properly, she's in trouble too. lol That one handed method will put her in surgery eventually.
Liiiiesss! Some make you wait 2-4 hours I drive Amazon too and this is on the east coast no matter the state all amazons are the same except for a certain few
I'm OTR for C.R. England. "Backing isn't a issue." Is a statement I wish I could say but sometimes as a OTR driver you deliver to places that were simply not designed for a combination vehicle and more for a box truck, so many times I had to back into the entrance of the distribution center all the way up to my assigned dock and once your hooked to the dock your cab is taking up half the road.
I love your content, I just found your channel last week, I work the New England Area, it’s exactly the same as the west coast I guess because everything you describe is equal on the East coast, great job
Yeah, i live not far from there. But my company is based out of portland and i ran for the amazon there and my loads was always getting cancelled or they was running behind. So, i made no money and my boss ended up pulling his trucks out of there.
It's a good job to get experience. But you only make about 40-45k annually. After taxes you don't have much. Some people would ok with that wage, but there are jobs where you can make way more. Granted she has a lot of time for side gigs to make some extra cash if she wants to.
Typically any dangerous job pays more like ice road truckers make over 90k. Fuel tanker jobs pay over 50k. I think Manitoulin pays over $90. If you work a logistics contract for a PMC you can make over 100k. Cross boarder jobs usually pay well too. Even owner operators who are really good at their job, and know how to manage their business/money make over 100k. Granted a lot of that goes into maintaining their truck and trailer. I just did a quick search on Indeed and there is a posting for a owner operator ranging from $90,000- $275,000 per year. Granted that is likely variable rate. I recognize that consistency is not always present within this industry. On the other hand that comes down to two factors 1. circumstance and 2. work ethic most of the time. Someone who is willing to put in a lot of time will probably make more money. But circumstance comes into play with weather, delays, breakdowns, cancelations, etc. Basically its possible to make great money, but not necessarily guaranteed.@@thehoodphilosopher8482
I did that Amazon day cab pay is ok if you just got your CDL. But the cameras are so damn sensitive you will get anxiety by just showing up to Drive. I left that Amazon for LTL
@@Blick405 they have outside and inside facing cameras, plus they have a lot of rules about no eating or drinking while the truck is in motion you have to pull over to do those things
