So much of this rings true to me..I used to never think much of it and just assume that’s just me and there’s nothing more to it..but over the last few months and after watching this series, which opened my eyes to myself and my quirks and tendencies, I took a few autism self assessment tests online and all have said I have tendencies of high functioning autism. That made me start to get the ball rolling to find out if I do have autism or not.. I am going for an assessment from a professional in a couple weeks.
I relate to a majority of these things. Especially about having empathy. I feel so much for people. May not be shown sometimes, but for the most part, I definitely show it. I’m on the spectrum too. Also, I hate math and love English and Literature. :)
It’s pronounced maths in Australia. That’s because it’s short for mathematics, not mathematic. -- They have worked out a thing called Double Empathy. It means that neurodivergent (ND) people often empathise better with other ND people. Whereas neurotypical (NT) people tend to empathise better with NT people. In the past it was thought that ND people couldn’t show empathy towards anyone. There are many autistic people in successful long term relationships with NT people. My husband is NT, and I am his autistic wife, and we have been together for over 40 years, married for 38.
