When people say we should move on from gorman already it genuinely pisses me off so much dude has crazy power and he showed that not everyone is gonna come up and be Julio Rodriguez from the jump and it sucks because it seems like that's everyone's expectations for high prospects like that
I'm a DeJong fan, and the best thing for this team is that we can find someone to take DeJong off of our hands, so that we can actually use the players with a higher certainty. With the Lux injury for the Dodgers, I hope that they come calling hoping to get a bounce back year. Ultimately I would like to see Walker in right, Carlson in center, O'neil in left, Noot as the dh with rotating of Yepez as needed, Donovan at second Edman at short. The good thing is that outside of Yepez, and maybe Walker, every potential outfielder the team has is a plus defender, if not elite. (We really don't know about Walker simply because of his late conversion to the outfield, and the fact that he has tools that could absolutely make him a plus defender, but the track record isn't there yet) In theory going to 2023, the Cardinals have a plus defender at every position except catcher (who's an elite hitter for his position so who cares) And even the backups are plus. Of course in this situation I'm missing the potential Jeff Kent level bat that Gorman has...But with DeJong on the roster it makes it tough to try for these other guys as his potential and salary takes away chances.
If Walker makes the team, it affects Yepez more than our existing outfielders, and to a lesser extent it affects Burleson and Gorman. They are all four going to be in the DH mix. But unless we trade someone away, I don't see Walker taking a glove spot in the OF.
Always check on use of Effect and Affect. While “effect” is usually used when a verb is needed, Your line is really trying to convey this question: Will Jordan Walker have an AFFECT on the Cards’ Outfield Makeup? He will NOT effect the outfield makeup. Only the manager & General Manager can “effect” the changed make-up, with Mo likely making the final decision.
We need Noot, T.O. And Carlson all to be proficient in Center. This way when someone struggles or we juggle the lineup base on L/R pitching, DH, injury, you can put any of those three in center and slide the 4th or 5th outfielder into a corner position. Agree with the thoughts about raising T.O.’s trade value, but I don’t want to trade him. It will take five outfielders minimum to get thru the season, so I don’t subscribe to the thought that we are overloaded in outfielders ( when factoring in those guys DHing and PHing). Cards are stacked with young prospects and several positions. We just have to be patient, give them playing time and see who really works out. Tommy E. Came up with little fanfare…now he is a regular stud! Several of out new guys are capable of the same thing. I think we will have a great year. I’m not sold on or counting on Jack to be a great pitcher!
I think the issue with your analysis of NootvCarlson (statwise) is that you are focusing on BA and HR total. Both are probably the most irrelevant stats here. Batting average is not important in today's game, OPS+ as you pointed out were drastically different with Noot being much better than Carlson; however, the most important thing here is the peripherals. Noot is all red and Carlson is mostly blue. Noot>Carlson is a fact at this point.
@@LockedOnCardinalsMLB I appreciate the old days of contact hitting, myself. Hopefully with the banning of the shift, the league avg will come back up a hair or two.
The way the cards operate Jw will be in memphis opening day.. I'm still not sold Carlson Personally I'd like to see Tyler, Nootbar and walker in the OF Yepez Dh Walker Dh Donnie can also play the outfield but he probably will start at 2nd.. Either way it's good having options when you have 5 or 6 players who can start , play the outfield.
Glad to be quoted... but let me add this about Carlson: he should give up the switch-hitting. He is NOT a natural switch-hitter. He looks just plain bad from the left side. Regarding Noot: His season BA relates to his slow start. After the break, he was a much better hitter than Carlson. But, you are correct. It could all change this year. Carlson is still very young.
Best case scenario is see that line in 100 games lol. But that looks respectable and would be a good spring board to improving as well. I would loooove 28 hr, 85 rbi and an ops of .750.
@@Ueiksg yeah, I struggled with the OPS number. 650-680 might be a better range. I went with 710 as you said, (hoping) he has a the ROY “full” season and he cranks all year. You were right on when you said, hoping. 😊
@@karlk1004 Respectively, those numbers you shared could prove true! We just never know. I think the batting average I posted might be to high. My thinking on that was based on him putting the ball in play and reducing his strikeouts. If that don’t happen his BA will probably be around .230 - .250. Being a Cards fan and hearing all the hype on him, my expectations may become a disappointment. I think those numbers are a good base for ROY candidate that could win the award. After-all, the experts all have nothing but high praise for him!
If this guy shows me he can hit a outside curveball and go the other way or a inside heater at around 100 mph at the professional level I'll be excited.
He's already done it plenty his entire minor league career. He faced heat in AA and AFL. He mashed oppo n curves. His only struggle is hard sliders low n away, which every MLB hitters struggled with.
Traded only if he isn’t on the injured report lol. Hopefully he has a injury free year. Doubtful but hopeful. Remember watching George Brett with hemorrhoids so bad he sat on a donut in between innings but they couldn’t keep him out of the lineup.
We drafted, developed, or signed these guys so why not choose a lineup and put them out there instead of this keystone cop stuff. If you think Jordan Walker is ready then bring him up and play him and see if he can figure it out. Nootbar is untouchable simply because he has an awesome name.
I Remember when the blues sent Tage Thompson to the Sabres among others for O’Reilly no one cared because most considered him a bust, he already has 39 goals this year ! But without O’Reilly Blues don’t win the Cup !!
@@georgesouthwick7000 I’m sure a lovely person in real life but there’s just no need for that toxicity. As for Gorman the shift is gone, he showed legit 30 hr pop, and his expected stats exceeded his actual stats last year
I hope Jordan has a good spring. What worries me is his height bcz you don't see a lot if guys hit for avg except Dave Parker I believe was 6ft6? ,Strawberry was tall had some good years,Stanton was hurt, then the Judge with the power. It's just the more loopy swing the tall guys have which could be prone to the strike outs. You think if the Rod Carews,Gwynns, but I guess we're not looking at avg.here it's the power and homers and il take a 275 ba and 30 plus homers. I agree with ya on Carlson he should be healthy and Oneal,if all these OF are healthy look for a big trade at the deadline to get an Ace PITCHER. Your the best JD some of the things you say are hilarious in a good way. Also I think you would be great as a comedian!!👍 But don't go anywhere! You have great insights, and ideas. Yes wow Jordan is huge with those pictures. But I don't see rookie of the year unless he's top with rookies 30 plus homers,I guess its possible. Thanks for your videoes!! Take care ,,the like button has been hit!!! I always do👍👍
Walker has such smooth power in his swing I see him having a pretty easy transition from AA to the bigs, so I think they need to make a spot in the outfield and O’Neil has earned his spot and it seems like it’d be hard for the cards to trade Noot with how much of a fan favorite he is already.
Which leaves carlson but walker dosent play center If I had to choose I'd probably try and move O'Neil to center with his speed and and have walker play left and noot in right
@@fearlessfreap8093 if that's the case what has Carlson or nootbar done to deserve to be a starter Neither is tearing it up.. Walker will be starting later in the season take it to the bank. Carlson isn't the long term answer I actually see the redbirds trading him this year.
@@Bigbirdreese1600 Noot has earned a starting position given his performance last year. Especially given who else is available. I hope Walker is as good as advertised but he has proven even less than Noot since he hasn't even played in AAA.
It's not that "starters can only go 5" It's that they won't let them go more... Analytics crap... Teams don't need starters etc... They need just multiple relievers for each game...by choice...
Noot and Carlson are not as impressive as people make them out to be.. they are avg at best.. if we want to go where we want to (WS) We got to get better
I feel Walker my not live up to the hype. Just bring him up slow and don’t pressure him to be a stud all at once. Too much stress and will be forced into mistakes by over trying. Don’t ruin a hot prospect. Hope he does well. Give Gorman and the young guys a chance. They all have to get comfortable at this level. We have jumped the gun on several good players that have burned us over the years.
Best case scenario is that some outfielders shine and others struggle, right out the gate. Then it will be definitive who to play vs sit. Worst case scenario is theyre ALL mediocre and no one stands out. Then what do you do?
@@Ueiksg I mean, he thinks the whole outfield will likely struggle, he doesn't think Gorman will have a good season, and he had no qualms trading any of the prospects in the farm system over the winter. I bet he loves the pitching staff though if I had guess. haha
