My husband and I are coming up on baby 3 and anniversary 7. We were married 8 months from when we *met.* We knew after 2 weeks that we’d end up married. We were 21 and not in a religious “get married now!” setting. People would crap a brick. My grands got married after dating for 6 months. Still married now- watching my oldest right now actually. I think people dove head long into this ultra modern “don’t get married before you’re 30 or you’re stupid” mindset without realizing that not everyone or every relationship works/matures the same way.

on the whole "too young" idea... my parents got married when they were 18 and 19 and they're still going strong 30+ years later soooo... it really depends on the person
My mom was 17 and dad was 18. They’re still together over 40 years later, but there was a LOT of things they had to get through during their marriage. My mom tells me now that 17 is much too young to get married and that she wishes that she’d waited. It really depends on the relationship and the people! Everyone is different.

I honestly thought that she was like 18 or 19 before I found out that she was 23 in this video because she looks really young. I don’t have a problem with it because it’s her life and she knows what’s best for her.

@@tessaking4130Not mean at all, a reasonable question! It addresses issues that will definitely come up during marriage before they ever do and prepares you for it together. Goes over family history, personal habits, money habits, etc, things that could be pitfalls to your marriage without you realizing it. It's things you don't always see when you're dating because being married to someone is totally different, going from me to we is a journey and you want to be as prepared as you can to avoid unnecessary fights and strife! Obviously it will still come but it helps when you're prepared for it. =)

@@bluepeppermint3790 My husband and I didn't live together before being married, so it's a vastly different transition. (Elise has mentioned waiting for marriage so I assume they aren't living together either, my assumption though.) That said I feel like even if you are there are some differences, depending on how you handle your legal work. If you keep your finances separate and such, but it's a different scenario depending on the couple. I'm speaking from the experience of someone who did not live with my significant other before marriage though. =)
When I proposed to my wife, we were in Disney World in front of Cinderella's castle. We hear someone yell out "you're too young." I promptly replied back "I'm 29!" Joke's on him. I only looked like I was about 20!

Can I just say absolutely love the way Elise and Bryan are handling all of this. I love how mature they are when dealing with other people’s comments. I also love that they are planning to do pre-marriage counseling, that’s something a lot of young people don’t even think about anymore. Let me tell ya, this relationship is gonna last forever. They’re doing it right.
I got married after knowing my husband for only a year too. We're extremely happy and the time frame is different for everyone. The one you marry isn't just who you are in love with, it's who you want to put effort into being together for the rest of your life

That's... Incredibly stupid. The "honeymoon phase" lasts 6 months. Date at least 7 months. The first 6, you'll be smitten and head over heels. The 7th month, you'll be able to view things with slightly more clarity.

i hate it when people generate a certain age where people can get married. there are literally 18 yr olds, maybe even younger, who are getting married. who cares if she seems too young or that they have only dated for a year. if they truly love each other, they will get through the bad times, if any. leave them be, its their lives, let them live it.

its funny how some people say she’s too young to be “married” but then in non christian circles living with your bf or fb and having a sexual relationship and even having a kid is fine. Why can’t adults who are in their prime commit their lives to each other in a religious setting? What is the problem with some people..?
My grandparents got married at 16 and 17 and they had their first child at those ages to. My parents got married at 19. They had me at 25 almost 26. So no I think you are perfectly fine getting married this young because you are not too young at all if anything you are doing it later than lots of people!!!!!!

My husband and I got married on our one year anniversary of dating, and that was two years ago. It’s definitely a combination of when you know, you know, and total commitment/working at it every day. A big congrats to you both ❤️
The fact that she's basically the last one of her high school friends to get married and she is just 24 is crazy to me. I'm 20 and I would never consider getting married before 35 and/or a long lasting relationship of 8+ years.
