What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go ary. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.
What Would You Do? (WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series. What will you do? Would you choose to intervene in these situations? Watch and join the discussion.

It’s one thing if the guy is scared she’ll judge him for being poor or something, but the man in this WWYD is clearly intent on *scamming* his (potential) wife. There is no such thing as a fake engagement ring? An engagement ring is a ring that you give to the person you're proposing to. A Wal-Mart ring can be an engagement ring, a ring pop can be an engagement ring. A twist tie can be an engagement ring. All that matters is the love they have for each other.

The ring itself doesn't matter - if it's a gumball store ring or a 5000 dollar one. What matters is that he's openly lying to her by saying that it's a real diamond and bragging about it. If he had said "It's not a real ring, I'm a little embarrassed" that would be better than "yep, I'm pulling a fast one on her!" It's what those last two guys said - trust is important. It's just that De Beers corporation controls majority of the diamond market and they create artificial scarcity to drive up prices. You're a jeweler so of course you're gonna feed us propaganda. A 2 ct ideal cut diamond would cost me $15,000, whereas the a 2ct ideal cut moissanite would cost me just $1000. As you can see the savings is huge if consumers go with moissanite.

It really doesn't matter of it's a fake one. The important part is that he loves her. That he's not with someone else. It is a ring. Yes, it is important for the marriage and everything but at the end of the day it is just a piece of jewelery. It would be nicer if it was a real ring for this special ocassion but maybe he can't afford one. The important thing is how the relationship is going to go. For example, a man can give the most precious and expensive ring in the world and end up in a toxic relationship without love and trust. He cheats on her and completely screws up their marriage. Other man can buy a ring made out of candy that probably costs $5. They are together for ever in a sane, lovely relationship and stay together until they die. Did the ring really matter in the end? I think it didn't. The actual issue here is that he told her that it was a real one. A relationship can't be built by lies.

Anyone knows perfectly well a woman who is told, “I saved up for this ring forever, when she is proposed to, is not going to feel any need to question the authenticity of the ring, and believe by default that it is a real diamond. @Diamond Dog If she's worth loving, she'll understand when he's honest about inability to afford a real diamond ring. At the very least, she'd think his proposal over... His refusal to believe he should be truthful with her reflects one of two possibilities: 1) He views her as someone to manipulate, a person from whom he can take much while giving ONLY MINIMALLY in return. 2) He insists on a bride not worth marrying... and his motive might be simply to flaunt her as proof of *his* supposed desirability as a lover!!

A better story line would have been that the guy was quite poor / humble and couldn’t afford the ring so he chose a fake to try and impress the lady, and then she realises and storms out. Then we can watch everyone try and convince her it’s not the materialistic side that matters!’
