What it's Like to Build a CINELIFTER FPV DRONE: Shendrones Thicc V2 Build & Test Flight

When a GoPro isn't going to cut it for the job... We need to build BIGGER.
Sometimes the video and film industry demands a higher quality camera. And as great as GoPros are, they do not have the dynamic range and flexibility that cameras like the Sony Alpha series, Canons, REDs, and other cinematic bodies possess.
That is why CINELIFTING Exists. And that is why I decided to pursue this route, and make this video: in case any of you out there are ever interested in building one for yourself, you can now have a peak into the process of building your own Cinelifter FPV drone!!

Thanks man 😭 I'm currently stranded in Turkey with a blown-out power supply, so I can't fly or create FPV content until I find a replacement!! Thinking of what else i could do 🤔

Hey man, awesome content. i’m starting this journey as well. Why the brotherhobby motors and not the T.motor F90 for example? Any reason?

I enjoyed your video. I have been trying to find a way to fly my Sony A6000, RX100M7 or RX10M4 that doesn;t great the bank. Are there any kits out there you can recommend?

Great job on the build. I’m considering building a thicc, too to fly a Sony fx6. For really smooth footage from a Sony, you really need one of the newer cameras with gyro data and then turn off the ibis and use their catalyst browse software to stabilize. Unfortunately I don’t think you can acquire the gyro data on the a6500- so you are just gonna have to master your tune and fly real smooth! :) I’m planning to probably put the crazy loud ducts on mine for proximity flying and safety unless I’m in wide open spaces….
@KaiVertigoh
@KaiVertigoh 2 года назад
Yeahhh I've been thinking about that too!! I do want to buy a camera without IBIS, that's why the Sony a6400 or BlackMagic Pocket seem to be better options to pair with the steadxp! Good luck on your build :)

Sick video dude. Do you have a list of components you used? I'm building up my own Thicc right now and interested in your setup. Thanks!

Maybe a dumb question: do you use two 4-1 esc? I’m trying to find a build guide video on what esc are recommended. I build other 5 inch but this seems harder ha

I did! I used 2x 4-in-1 Hobbywing ESCs, if I remember correctly

Nice work man. I just built my Thicc too! You're pretty ballsy for putting on the camera before dialing down the tune! I had still yet to fly my thicc with my camera. I fly with a dummy weight at the time being while still working out all the issues as my Thicc for some reason flips out completely on some flip moves. Not sure the footage is jello-ey due to the vibrations or due to the IBIS in the A6500. I will try it with my IBIS-equipped Fujifilm X-S10 too and see if the IBIS affects the footage that much. Else I'll be investing in a ZCAM in the future. All the best to the both of us!

@@KaiVertigoh So how's it going with the Thicc? Managed to get some decent shots with the A6500 yet? I flew mine recently with the ZCAM E2-M4 and it's pretty swell!

Curious what you did to stop the drone from flipping out during the first flight. Was it prop direction or motor direction... or something else? Also, did you ever get rid of the jello from the cine footage. I suspect you're getting jello, ironically, from the in-body stabilization, but I could be wrong. Just curious. Good video. Subscribed!

I think it might be the incorrect motor layout or incorrect flight controller's orientation because I have once faced same issue with Iflight fc...

Would have loved to hear how you actually fixed the drone from flipping out rather than just building up that "it didnt work, then it did after crossing our fingers." Are you still flying this drone?

Common sense should tell you not to catch or snatch quads out of the air with your bare hands. Yeah I've done it once or twiceiwth GPS lock toy drones but I wouldn't do it with a freestyle carbon frame quad aka flying salad shooters.

Just starting practicing it last week ☺️. its really not that bad. I fly LoS just fine so when I am LoS and just hovering I let it hover to where it just slightly is rising and moving back a bit, then I kill the motors. Its safe because then it drops from above me and I just catch it. Also it has not chance of re-arming because the throttle is just sitting somewhere above the bottom. Hand launching is a different story, but I have it figured out as well pretty safe.
@choppergirl
@choppergirl 2 года назад
@@LZRFPV Yeah, I use to catch mine by the legs and flip it upside down to disarm the motors, but I don't recommend continuing with it as a practice. You graduate to more powerful quads and those SOBs can slice up your fingers without a second thought. spinning propellers and human parts do not belong anywhere near each other.

@@choppergirl Yeah I meant that I was doing it with my 5" Freestyle quad but I do it with my Mavic as well. :p

@@LZRFPV I stopped doing it because what if some little kid saw me doing it. Kids copy adults, it's how they learn, so it could be some kids fingers I save by reminding myself not to do it. Can you imagine some random little kid trying to run up to a spinning quad and try to pick it up because he saw you holding one running. Yeah, wildcard you don't want. All I got to do is imagine myself at the hospital with a bloody hand wraped in a white towel with a severed finger on ice, behind the guy that got a light bulb stuck up his bvtt, and in front of the guy that stood on the top rung of a ladder and fell of and got a rake impalled in his ba. And when I get to the doctor, he says I know what happened to Tweedledee and tweedledumber, but to me, now how the h377 did you do this to yourself.... think it was a good idea to pet a spinning wheedwacker? Mostly I got to remind myself not to kick my tow under a running lawnmower. Sounds crazy, why would anyone do that, but as much as I get on and off a running riding lawnmower with hat big deck and two blades underneath, its something I have to remind myself to stay consciously aware off, esp. when I'm pushing it out of some stuck situation and it's still running. My lawnmower is a b1tch to get cranked, so if I get it running I'm not disposed to stopping it every time for safety's sake. Not wise but it is what it is.
