Imagine being in the Olympic village. Literally surrounded by the select best athletes the world has to offer. Every person you walk by is the the epitome of athleticism.
I actually met Mr. Burroughs at an all American tournament in 2013 - the summer before my senior year in Vegas. I can completely 100% certify the humility, charm and grace of this gentleman. He not only allowed my teammates and I to interrupt his day with questions, he also took the time to take pictures with us (I still have one with him that is my favorite to this day). I can’t stress enough the positive impression he left on all of us, being as humble and kind as he was while being an Olympic gold medalist wrestler.
I never heard of this guy before, such a pity sports media doesn't promote Olympians more and give them the respect he deserves, just checked his record on Wikipedia and it's seriously impressive he should be a much more known and renowned than he is.
Wrestlers don’t care. It is a fraternity and once the bug gets you it is over. Toughest athletes in the world. Something about the sport is addictive. My sons wrestle and it is like eating. It is part of their lives. I have not met too many jerk wrestlers, but if you see them out as a team it is like piranhas, just scary and best to be on your best manors. Just something different. Again, nice as can be, but not arrogant. Football players out together can be bullies, but wrestlers are real killers and just have nothing to prove and people can just pick it up.
@advancedchiropractic667 my son is 12 and has wrestled for the past 4, almost five years, and you are absolutely right. Almost every wrestler my son is friends with or young men we meet at tournaments is super respectful, confident, and nice to be around.
YES!!! As a wrestler I couldn’t believe that this was actually happening EVERYONE should go watch the whole podcast Jordan is one of the best people and is such an amazing representative for the sport of wrestling
This guy is right about people knowing they're gonna lose. Look up the Australian who won the speed skating gold just because in the semis, and the final, all other better contestants fell over on the last turn. His coach said that was his only way of winning and was his game plan. It actually worked. Crazy! What a legend.
I think they're gonna stick with "most popular restaurant with olympians and gold medalists". Even guys like bolt aren't shy about showing their love for it.
My favorite part of watching the Olympics are the early heats of the 100 meter dash. Every country is invited to send at least one athlete, whether they qualify or not. Many of these countries that are only sending one athlete (think countries like Nauru and Palau) have them compete in the 100 meter dash. After all, it's quick and you need to expensive equipment. These sprinters beam with pride. It's so fun to watch.
Hey Jordan just want to say thank you, you're really a great inspiration to me in life. And seeing your wrestling and your interviews gives me a lot of hope that as long as we work hard on what we believe is right, we build a great life. really appreciate your work Jordan, thanks for being you
This guy is articulate. They put him behind mic after his wrestling career. Olympic wrestling definitely needs better commentators to help the sports grow in popularity.
@habibbi alikafe right lol . or when a gay guy isn't a lil b$ who talks with a lisp and does construction work instead of home decor ...I hate that s$.
This guy is a superstar in a sinfully underappreciated sport. I somehow feel that makes him so much more endearing. Like he has all the attributes of a superstar yet he's humble in a way a superstar who's lived that life cannot really be. Fascinating guy!
Burroughs would destroy him. Wrestling in wrestling is a complete different sport than mma wrestling. Khabib would be blast doubled into orbital. He doesn’t have the leg defense of an Olympic wrestler to win that
@@dylanzen9850 wasn't on TFATK said he straight wresltled Ed Ruth, 3 times NCAA champion and it didn't go well for Ruth. Olympic level is different though
Just imagine the most beautiful and athletics bodies in the world gathering at the same place wanting to party on after 4 years of privations. Welcome to the olympic village.
Jordan's a freak athlete just an absolute freak of an athlete. He amazes the amazing. Every wrestler stops what they're doing and watches Jordan. Just so they can say they saw him live. Hes amazing.
@@regnregnet1673 It's not, but not having a comment section is the only difference...And Joe always sez" I NEVER, EVER read comments" so there's that to consider
I've shaken this mans hand and Im about 65 lbs heavier and about 5" taller and I felt like the role was reversed. Wrestlers, especially ELITE ones are another breed of human. My 3 year old son starts wrestling this summer.
Not gonna lie, if an Olympic gold medal winner asked me to cut in line, I have to let him. "Of course bro. Youre WAY better than me, and honestly I shouldnt be eating this"
@@grimaffiliations3671 yup.. never saw him but I did see the Dream Team and met Mohamed Ali there.. The village really is one of the coolest places on earth.
when you think about it, being that he's a major athlete, that likely just the way most learn to reward themselves the general public will eat it once every other week, they probably do once in a few months to once a year
All that energy of course they'd consume a quarter pounder. I did when I was excessively working out getting buff. It helps. Not healthy but the fats protein and calories help
@@mediacenterman8583 anyone would struggle to name a country that doesn't have a McDonald's, big or small. McDonald's is everywhere. But Qatar is a pretty bad guess, lol
@@NeroVuk not really, as no one that lives outside of qatar knows or cares what's in qatar. He was probably just naming the shitiest country he could think of.
@@iwatchyoutube6539 I don't live there or care about anything that happens there, yet I know that it's for one a very rich country, and two, pretty much an American colony, lol, but you had to find a way to be a snowflake about it, eh?
JR Can’t use my GPS, and listen on Spotify. Plus there’s a 3 second pause when going from another app into Spotify. This doesn’t seem to be the case with music, but is the case with your podcast. FYI
How about the super rich - Warren Buffet TODAY at 90 yrs old, worth $85 Billion says he eats at McDonalds at least 3-4 times a week...and he owns few billions in their stock...Just sayin'
@@whyumadtho355 So WRONG... that's like saying "I'm on a 1500 calorie diet to lose weight, all I consume is 10 cans of Coca-Cola a day...Sorry for your stupidity, get well Bro...
Yup. Most guys with no fight or wrestling experience feel insecure when their in a room full of other guys. Being one of the greatest wrestlers of all time will probably wipe away any bit of insecurity knowing you could handle yourself pretty much anywhere .
@@whyumadtho355 I did just under a year of bjj and i miss that chilled out feeling. Nothing worried me. My body on the other hand, is grateful that I stopped haha.
In podcast #1309 25:00 Naval Ravikant said idc how rich you are, if somebody can tell you when to be at work, what to wear, and how to behave your not actually rich. Joe agreed. 200 episodes later, this dudes begging For people to download Spotify 😅😅
@@SwagonJameson theyve been on like a thousand times and he literally just started on spotify. They dont make him do anything it’s in his contract he can do whatever he wants
@@gavintoussaint3237 yeah, different strokes for different folks. I don't like their burgers much compared to other places, but the McRib I'll always get
@@jezzaRTW that's cool. And yea that was a missed opportunity for sure. I guess him not being into other sports is good for the show mostly. But also limits conversation also.
by the time he won the olympics he had won like 3 straight world championships and hadn't lost a match in nearly 4 years. He came into Rio looking to cement himself as the best American wrestler in history. Sadly he fell a little short. John Smith(yes that's his real name) still remains the GOAT American wrestler.
