In Damon’s case have a car that was miles ahead of the pack and a driver in the same equipment who was a rookie - simple.

For Damon and James, two people who have been in this sports for decades, to sit here and talk about can lando and george win title is ridiculous... they both know its 95% the car... Lewis isnt winning shyt cause he's car is crap, and he won everything cause he had the best car.... same as Max, Senna, Schumi and Damon himself... Damon won a title and then couldnt defend it cause he had a crappy car....

Yeah it’s 95% car, that’s why Perez has been second in every race for the last two years.

Be British and have a great car like Jenson Button and Nigel Mansell. Damon included.

Yeah, the Britishness of Max, Seb, Schumacher, Senna, Hakkinen and Prost clearly helped them too.

@@Mockle07 point is. Those 3 British drivers were not the best drivers or their era. But they were handed the best engine and won titles when not even the best drivers could compete with them.

@@RossBayCult I understand your point… this is how F1 has been since forever - best car wins 9 out of 10 times. Pretty much every champion has looked average in lesser cars, we never really know who the absolute best driver is because it’s almost always the best car/team that wins. Mansell was a fantastic driver and Button out-scored Lewis over their three years together at McLaren. Vettel, Alonso, Hakkinen and many others have looked less than stellar at times once they didn’t have the best car. Remember Schumacher’s early years at Ferrari? Damon Hill is categorically one of the luckiest champions of all time though, that’s not even up for debate.

@@Mockle07 yes. But they tend to give those seats to British drivers.

@@RossBayCult Damon was brought in to the team as a number 2 to Senna. Jenson was already in the team when Brawn created his monster of a car, Mansell drove as many dogs as he did world beaters. Schumacher, Vettel, Alonso, Max, were all given top cars very early in their careers to then go on and win titles. Plenty of other non-Brits were given race winning cars and didn’t win too. I can see that you think that you’re saying something here, but at least come with some facts to support your nonsense 🙂
