Makoto Fujimura is a leading contemporary artist whose work has been featured in galleries and museums around the world. He has also authored 4 books, Art+Faith: A Theology of Making, Silence and Beauty, Refractions, and Culture Care.
At the ARC Conference, We were delighted to be able to display the artwork of renowned contemporary artist Makoto Fujimura. Makoto is an expert in the art of ‘Kintsugi’ - the ancient art of renewing broken ceramics by repairing them with gold. Either side of the ARC Conference main stage, two of Makoto’s artworks were displayed: Water Flames and Charis. These stunning works were chosen because they depict the journey from darkness to light, from decline to renewal, from lament to glory. They also tell the story that noble and beautiful things in this world (Charis), are forged in the furnace of trial and perseverance (Water Flames).
