You mean the UConn game is the last one Brad Underwood will arrogantly fail to do serious prep for? "Nothing we haven't seen" etc etc

I will be happy if Illinois plays above its expectations in March and if we get most of our guys back for the following year. This is a young team that has a high ceiling, so maybe this team will surprise to the upside in a big way. Should be a fun year.

This team will almost certainly be better in February and March compared to the opening of the season. And very battle tested with that gauntlet of a nonconference schedule.

I haven't seen this much buzz around the program since the Self years....Sunny you know you're doing something right when Kentucky and Zona fans are talking smack about us! Lol The sleeping giant is waking!!!!! I agree with you that this year ,it's going to take time to gel but I expect this March we should be ready for March, and we're going to make a lot of noise!!!! You're killing it Sunny!

No, I'm with you I think this year the team will be good, maybe top 5 and we should make the tourney but with retention next season we can be special.

Exactly right! I think we have a Big Ten contender, but I would be surprised if this team achieved national championship level.

With the way IL was playing during the B1G tourney and the NCAA tourney, had they faced literally any other team for that elite 8 game other than uconn, then they probably advance to the final 4, and even if they wouldn't have, they'd still probably only lose by 5 to 10 points to any other team. Uconn got into a transition game with Clingan that just kinda put IL in the spin cycle, where IL was just chasing its own tail, and it was just easy for uconn to quickly run up the score on IL in that type of situation b4 IL could kind of figure out how to defensively plug up the hole of that gushing dam and start to come back and score but by then it was too late, there was too big of a chasm to close. They did to IL kind of what IL did to AZ in the '05 tournament. Uconn was just too hard to defend with Clingan in there and TSJ just wasn't effective in doing what TSJ normally does, and I think Underwood and everyone now knows he should have had a different game plan, but either way, IL was getting beat by uconn. It should have probably been by no more than 15 points, but no matter what, they were getting beat. It was embarrassing, but it was also house money just to get that far. No shame in it.

Hopefully all these new players aren’t going to require a whole lot of instructions because Brad doesn’t spend much time coaching and it really showed in that second half against UCONN. “If he blocks a 100, he blocks a 100”

I agree that Brad learns and adapts. However, the current team is because of a string of lucky events. If our beloved assistant coach had not left and taken two players with him, we would NOT be here. We just got LUCKY. I will take it, but that 30 pt is not directly correlatable to this team. Not even close. 😅

I'm not sure the Assistant coach wasn't asked to leave which is what may have set this series of events to happen.

@LockedOnIllini OK. I am not as informed as you, so if the AC was asked to leave, fine. However, there is just no way the set of events was gamed. The dynamics of the two Euro SG kids are plain to see. We lost our target to BYU and found a replacement on the rebound.
