I bought a Citroen 2CV blind that had been sat under a car cover outside for years! Tools provided by - Tool Mania UK - www.ebay.co.uk/sch/tool_mania... Join this channel to get exclusive access to all videos early. / @chopsgarage
That looks pretty decent. I'd say a windscreen panel would make sense as I bet there's more rot lurking. That would also include the bonnet hinge. Whether it's worth doing is hard to say, but decent 2CVs fetch good money.
Never really watched anything like this before but I’ve watched around 2 months of your videos in the last week! Amazing inside look into the small car dealer life! Your amazingly honest and amazing towards your customers. Wish all small dealers were like you! An inspiration to them all! Keep up the amazing work and look forward to following you on your journey! 😀
Great content mate I’m really enjoying the channel.. it gives me so much motivation to keep on car trading on the bad days of being a car trader…. Keep up the good work mate.
Got stuck in a huge traffic jam on the M1 in one of those things. Middle of winter & temperature well into the minus was absolutely frozen. There was no heater fan. Only got warm air while car was moving. After 4hours of that I made the executive decision to leave them to the auctions.
There should be a rubber strip betwen the 2cv rear wings and the body. if the inner wings are in good nick youve probably got one with not much tin worm in it, the font floor double skin panels have a nasty habbit of rotting , I drilled 3 x 10mm holes in the front floor where the floor angles upward and filled this section with waxoil to stop it rotting out. then plugged them with 3 x 10mm rubber bungs.
i used to buy them from my friendly scrapper, usually a few patches on the floor, MOT, drive around for a week or so till someone (usually a student) offered to buy it off me, rinse and repeat....happy daze
Small point. You've got brake pads.......... Where's the front brakes. Inboard on the front of the 2cv. Not pulling it down. Just curious 🤔. I'd love to see it done. Have a look at hub nut. He's got a lovely dolly. Same year as yours. Great videos by the way. Keep it going
Will the van just get a quick go over and mot or having a full resto? I am an ex car trader, now retired in Spain, and that van has my juices bubbling, I would be interested if you decide just to get it running. I like it as it’s LHD and also the french plates make it easier to put onto Spanish plates ( is now crazy expensive to put Spanish plates on a uk car since Brexit) . Love your honesty and content, very much remind me of how I worked, I did well and managed to retire at 55 in the sunshine. Paul
Just sold a guy a panda and he bought it to use over winter while he laid his 2 CV up, he ran me back in the 2cv,a nice one that he's had since 1978 that he bought while he was a student, so there you go mate!
@@ChopsGarage no mate just a 58 plate normal one, put it on last night sold it 9 am this morning, got a 07 micra today and a 62 plate skoda, prices still very high
@@ChopsGarage hi James, 420 bid, so 600 with fees, paint and mot, got 1295 for it, with a fiver tip for dropping it off, just got a 07 micra and a 62 plate fabia came to just over 2 k for the pair, but generally prices were high, waited till the end and they were definitely pushing them thru.
Very tidy 2cv, will make an excellent car with just a little tidying and 2 new wings. Don't like them myself but restored it will fetch an unreasonably good price.
James, oh James:- why are you messing about with that old 2 CV when you have 2 beautiful Guiliettas out there that need new owners to love and cherish them???? Surely you have to admit that they deserve it? Share the love!! 😍
What website do u use to check history I just checked one on my car check it said never written off then after watching a video on you tube I checked it on one called vcar had photos and everything of it smashed up couldn't believe it thought I'd share it with people in your comments
Those lads were handy bud, glad your not going to waste your time, that 2 cv (as any classic) would cost you 50 easy flippers, I know I once spent nearly a year on a e type, which obviously was worth doing, I had to bail out and we had to carry it out of the garage, I was doing a concourse build, I almost lost my house, since then I've focused on normal (ish) cars, messing with classics has been a big part of my life, but it's not really practical, completely stick to what your doing mate and you'll make your money.
@@ChopsGarage yes I've flipped loads of classics, once bought a spitfire been stood since 1991,got it running and sold it, bought all his spares, his aga and all his home made wine as well. He just kept coming up with brand new old stock parts he'd bought, I listed them all on e Bay.
I can do that! TBH was getting bit fed up with "whats your website" "id of like that car but don't know how to get in touch" etc etc when all on my About page on the channel
@@ChopsGarage I tend to watch in the half screen mode with the tabs down the left so my setup might be a bit odd. Other sites have some colour to their idents which might break it up too. (or reverse out , there is probably a reason why TV closing credits tended to be white or yellow on black. (thinks the closing ? opening? credits from Crossroads which fascinated me more than the soap opera did.
Keep the van, store the bits of Dolly in the Van, repair Dolly, rebuild Dolly, remove smalls etc off van, store in Dolly, repair van , reassemble van, Job Done
The guts did a great job cleaning the car for you I woukd not but anthing old has it takes a lot of time working in a old car welding spraying etc unless you take a youg lad on part time to help out pyt a add In the local shop window it really majes sense extra gelp would suit a teenager or a pensioner always enjoy this chanel but my problem with you is the video is far too short give us half hour please bud and I hope my idea for extra help is a goid one it would make your life easier Phil I. 2cv is, to me, is really unappealing. As is the Beetle, and old vw camper. Just my opinion obviously, they do have some massive fans. Stick an electric motor in it??
Get the stock up and the business sorted before you tat about on a cv worth nothing, get the mg and the van done after getting your livelihood up and running and make some money 👍
Been called out to a 500 I sold in May, flat battery, women said I shouldn't have sold her a car 6 mths ago with a dodgy battery, said I'd taken advantage of her as she was a woman (!)
Omg people are a bloody joke!! I am surprised you went out. You have to wonder why they dont think we just play the lottery as we clearly have 20/20 future vision on whatever could possibly go wrong! Negative terminals work lose on them allot. Had woman part ex a BMW X3 with me and not tell me the diff was whining like mad over the 30mph run I did around town, she called me out month later on flat battery nearly told her to go swivel
I'd be inclined to say "sorry to hear you have broken down, I don't offer a breakdown service, perhaps you have forgotten I only sell cars. Here's the number for the AA. Hope that helps" 😂
@@sammytheseal2307 went to jump start her and tried to explain about batteries, cold weather, short journeys, had the car six months, all fell on deff ears, I hate selling cars locally, your on the hook forever to local idiots and take it from me she was crazy.
@@roystonvehicles9129 I don't like casting stereotypes but I would bet she's the sort to have a ring of friends saying "he's such a scumbag babe hope you're ok xx" .... 😡😡😂 I'm sure you know what I'm saying
@@sammytheseal2307 yes I'm sure mate, battery will be flat again now it's getting colder and she won't buy a new one, I did her the car cheap enough last may, 1600 for a 58 plate 500 with red leather.
