@@timoplays478 The story was objectively terrible. I'm beyond tired of people heaping so much undeserved praise on the most relatively disappointing video game sequel since God of War 2. Yes, it expanded the core gameplay from Arkham Asylum well in most ways. Even after Arkham Knight, it's still quite playable (unlike AA). However, the implementation of armored enemies in combat and predator was a goofy and artificial way to try to make players use automatic/loud takedowns. How is a nutcracker suit or chest protector going to stop Batman from choking them out? I can understand them being more resilient to certain attacks and projectiles. But to no longer fall down from a glide kick or completely halt a 250 pound master ninja backflip kicking them in the jaw? I do think it's a worse design for predator areas than for combat. The fastest way to take them out is to just get behind them, fire the batclaw, and have them bump right into Batman and fall down so I can use a ground takedown. It's far quicker than doing the "beatdown" technique. I'm glad Arkham Knight went for hulking mini-gunners instead (though it used them sparingly). The titans of AA were simple yet viscerally satisfying enemies to fight. But in AC you just perma-stun them and mash square while Batman's head and shoulders embarrassingly clip into him. Using the ultra stun on AC titans when there are a ton of regular-sized enemies is near impossible. I've just used the explosive gel quickfire to stun them instead. I wish Rocksteady would have let us do all three stun techniques (the batarang throw from AA, and the two from AC). Funny enough, when an Arkham City titan roars before a charge or is charging, a quickfire batarang even vaguely in their direction will always hit them and do nothing instead of hitting one of the normal enemies I intended the batarang for. Rocksteady didn't change that from AA, even though it's now useless in AC. Not all proper boss fights were winners, either. Grundy was a pseudo boss fight puzzle reminiscent of the lamest parts of God of War 2, and the actual one-on-one part of the fight with Ra's was a wholly inferior version of the battle with Poison Ivy in AA. But the absolutely horrendous story is what cripples it. The nature of the plot is very loosely stitched together and scatter-brained. It's obvious that the big confrontations and gameplay scenarios with the villains were decided first, then they tried to tie it all together later. This is the case for many AAA games, but Arkham City is one of the worst offenders ever. Overtly nonsensical plot holes, laughably contrived events, and some cringe-inducingly juvenile dialogue. It's thematically bankrupt as it pretends to be epic and profound with, admittedly, stirring music. Look, every Arkham game has some contrivances, but they're nowhere near as bad nor as widespread as in Arkham City. Some of the major plot twists were also embarrassingly self-spoiled. We could see that there was a healthy-looking Joker that gassed Batman, the real Joker coughing as he's filming Clayface Joker, and we could see Clayface Joker facing the mirror and seeing the sick Joker. I don't know how any person could be surprised by the end reveal (attempted one, anyway). This game is not in any way comparable to Mr. Dini's fantastic contributions to Batman: The Animated Series and Mask of the Phantasm. I have to say that some of the Arkham City side missions like Zsasz's phone calls were actually much, much better written than the main plot. By far the shortest campaign of the four main games. Everything involving Catwoman was mediocre at best and came in strange intervals. I will say that the challenge mode would've been easily the best of the series, but the absolutely scummy practice of carving out DLC character and challenge maps that could've been on the disc on day one, then selling them back to gamers. Each of the four main Arkham games are guilty of this to some degree, though.

Hector Rojas The gameplay is great in these games, but the writing and the cast really elevate the quality. Kevin and Mark sell every scene they're in. It's pure awesomeness.

Frozen Wine well as great as arkham city was I still agree with watchmojo on this one as I just felt spiderman ps4 was a better game overall when it comes to gameplay, combat, web swinging mechanics, story, characters etc imo still that takes nothing away from arkham city as it's still one of the best superhero games ever made and it's all subjective at the end of the day.

I raged extremely hard when I watched that video too. I felt that Arkham City should have taken every point in that video with the exception of world. I love Spiderman PS4 don't get me wrong it's in my top five. But Arkham City is in my top one.

Aabir Goswami thank you lol, Arkham Asylum is TIMELESS! At one point ACity to me was the best, but it’s the open world aspect/traversal that contributed to the game not aging well.

@@-Anonymous-. arkham asylum has aged terribly, hardly any replay value, dated combat and laughable boss fights. What I see that holds up is the atmosphere thats it. It was great for its time but its hard to enjoy it nowadays of how dated it is ,especially compared to arkham city and knight. Arkham city has the best challenge maps also. Knight is the bigger game overall with the most content. Asylum is good just not as good like the others.

Wise Green Wanderer Arkham Asylum has it’s own personal experience because it’s more linear & not subjected to open world. Open world games age overtime in most cases. Arkham Asylum is set up to be a 1 of 1 game & could be a 1 & Done game, that could still be enjoyable years upon years from now. The only true critique you have is the Boss fight not being executed to their full potential. The combat is dated? Lol okay to what standards? ARKHAM GAMES? Lol Rocksteady created the this combat, to say the combat is dated because the franchise evolved makes no sense. Even comparing the combat to games to that tried to mimic it (Shadow Of Mordor/War & Tasm 1/2) Arkham Asylums combat is still Miles ahead.

Steve Vigilante Knight has better gameplay though & it’s a timeless game just like Asylum. Can’t say the same thing for City

naruto sage isn’t there one game in the series which is considered bad though ? I personally enjoyed them but I’ve seen videos saying that they suck and were a complete disappointment.

@@ultron-5600 No, there's no bad game in the series Arkham Origin and Arkham Knight were not as good as the others but they are still 7.5-8/10. The reason why some people dont like origin is because it doesnt improve the mechanic much after City, but still has good story and the best boss battles Arkham Knight, has best graphics and story in the series, but was criticized for a little too much driving car mission.
