Thanks for having me on! I loved hearing how this game resonated with me and Bubbletea in very different ways. And any excuse to gush about P3. (Not heard here: me talking about Junpei being amazing for like 10 minutes. We had to cut down a bit) One thing I will stress re: my P3 series is the mic quality isn't great to go back to now and being done in 2016/17 many of my views/opinions have changed or not aged well. But it's still something I look back on fondly. It's surreal to think Reload is so close now, I hope it's just as amazing of an experience to new and old fans as the original was!
I'm expecting an instant seller. 4 million at the least. With this much hype, SEES is gonna get a whole new generation of fans.... Except maybe Ken, but i won't spoil for newbies.
I'm pretty sure it's just a legacy feature they don't want to take away since even 5 had it as an option despite them giving you the prompt to switch to direct control almost immediatelly.

The podcast is very enjoyable to listen to, but the one thing you guys need to work on is talking over each other. There are points especially with Bubbletea, where someone interjects in the middle of him speaking and he tries to finish his point by yelling over the other person because he doesn't want to pause for them.
yeah... if i don't speak my entire thought while it's in my head, i'll either forget about it or not really have a good chance to smoothly roll back to that point. sorry if that made it hard to listen to. we'll keep this in mind for next time.
I discovered Persona 3 Fes in my local Electronic Shop. I liked the Look and that why I bought it. Than I got so hooked on it. It was my first Play Station 2 game I but over 100 hours in it. Excited for this Podcast!
My boy klingy being in a podcast. Here is my journey and experience of persona 3. I got interested in persona and megmai tensei in general by bigklingy's playthrough(like December 2015-april 2017). Given I'm pretty spiritual/religious and love reading mythology, so I wanted to play myself. However my "retro" gamestore only had persona 4 original. I remember trying to get it, but there was a cold snap so I had to wait it out. I remember loving persona 4. However I did soon play persona 3 from the PlayStation store. Had a blast . I remember having to keep a secret because I still was in that weeb denial phase(as I'm not those anime fans) and also the elover summoning stuff might have given concerns to my parents and my brother. One of the many things drew me for the persona series is that it J-pop that I like. Like I don't like J-pop, but something about persona OST it very charming and fitting to walk at my schools. Also one thing I love about persona, is that while that characters are anime tropes, they at least feel like realistic teenagers. This might be corny, but the persona sub series and megmai tensei, it did help me be more socialable, like it did encourage me to do it(granted I'm still shy). For the road to reload, I admit I wanted a remake of persona 1 and 2 duology because I do think those games do a remake more because it those games really need the press turn/one more, more portraits and voice acting. However reload looks pretty and promising. I have play some of portable and not finish because like klingy, the reduced over world and the like can be distracting. Also school has being getting in the way as well as work and other games. For me, the persona 3 protagonist to me, he seems like the protagonist that would do the harem route least because he would find it too munch work. Like i kinda see persona 3 protagonist as a bit of a bum(as some of it due to him having depression). Like i can see p4 protagonist doing a harme for being a romance person and having a hard time no to a girl's advances and p5 i can image him being a prevert and enjoying the thrill of having mutlple girls.
I actually own vanilla P4 and played up to Kanji's arc before deciding to go for Golden instead. Vanilla P4's earlygame is very much a pain. lol yeah I do kinda see that with the P3 protag/harem.
Lol, i remember emulating vanilla Persona 4 on a college laptop during Covid 19 (only had a ps4 and they didnt release P4Golden yet). It was looking a picture book by the time ya get to Kanji's dungeon😂, but it was my comfort game.
I can TOTALLY see P4 protag harem route being unable to say know to a girl. Your version of P5 protag harem is a lil cliche, but it makes THAT Valentines Day event hilarious!
6:17 - I did! A friend from school was super into JRPGs and they let me borrow vanilla P3, which is how I got into SMT in general. I feel like I'm a rare breed because most people don't even know that there was a version of P3 before FES lol.
I played Persona 3 base on the PS2. My buddy and I were in future shop. He just bought it on a whim. Because the internet told him SMT was cool. He got bored with it. Lent it to me. I fell in love. Beat it, eventually bought FES when I had to return his copy. This was when Persona 3 was new. Man I feel old. That was high school and I am 35 now.
I’ve played Persona 3 Vanilla on Max S.Links, and ended up having to start over because Yuko wouldn’t Rank Up some time in October. I’m currently gathering footage on the game because I’m currently working on an extremely long video essay of every version of Persona 3. Great work, by the way, all three of you have been inspirations to me in the process of making this video. The Max S.Links in P3 Vanilla is pain and suffering due to cancelling plans after reaching Rank 10, and even Reversing Fuuka’s S.Link for a few months, assuming you follow PenguinKnight’s guide
@@BigKlingyyeah, the Shrine is absolutely a blessing because it probably would have been impossible otherwise. Because there was no arcade in Vanilla. The AI is also *much* worse Vanilla compared to FES from my experience. People complain about the Party Members in FES, but it was actually *vastly* improved in comparison to Vanilla.
I played vanilla p3, probably on release because by then I was paranoid about Atlus releasing 20 copies of something per state and was sure if I didn’t pick it up then I’d never see it again. I can’t remember how I’d heard of it, but I’d already played Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga in college, so I’m sure it got my interest pretty naturally.

P3 Vanilla was my first MegaTen game. Comparative to P4 and P5 it wasn't as popular, but the JRPG community was a lot smaller, so it kind of had the same experience as P4 and P5 where when you were in that circle everyone was telling you that you had to play Persona 3. I ended up getting FES a few years later but I only ever played The Answer.
So here’s my story with how I got into the Persona series and why I love Persona 3 so much. Spring 2016, I saw this anime fighting game that was free for PlayStation Plus and I was like “Persona 4 Arena Ultimax? Sounds interesting” and I played through the both the P4 Side and the P3 Side and thought it a was good game for what it is, even though on some nights I slept on some visual novel cutscenes to the point where I left my PS3 on all night. Anyway, going into Summer 2016, I watched the original P4 anime because I wanted to know who these characters are and I absolutely loved it and then when I heard news of a new mainline persona game coming out which would eventually be Persona 5, I eventually got the game on the week of Spring Break and the game changed my life and perspective of how video game’s stories can be viewed in a different and unique way. At the end of 2018 to early 2019, I emulated Persona 3 Portable through PPSSPP emulator, the psp emulator because I was still kinda dipping my toes into the emulation pool, and the story hits me like a freight train because it made me appreciate how my life should be cherished until one day I’ll kick the bucket. Persona 3 maybe controversial depending on which version of the game you play, but the game is still a masterpiece and the ending (not spoiling for obvious reasons) was one of the first times in a long time that genuinely broke me down crying at my own desk. Having just finished Persona 4 Golden on PC recently after picking it back up 2 years later to prepare for Reload, I feel ready to experience Persona 3 again in a whole new way while knowing that what I have went through before is gonna ruin me in HD (lol) and without a doubt, this game will have the potential to touch the hearts of a lot of people who never had the chance to play through this masterpiece because it was basically a PlayStation exclusive for a long time until 2020 when P4G was available for PC. But thanks for reading this, it took some time to remember what happened, but I’m proud to still be a persona fan today and hopefully we get Persona 6 soon because my god the P5 milking needs to stop lol
Glad to see more people enjoying the P4 anime. I think it's one of the best game-to-anime adaptations out there, personally. There's a few things I think it does even better than the game. (Also it's one of the few anime I watch dubbed, because the game's cast is amazing)
I say it’s one of the few instances where I’m like ”fuck it, go ahead and watch the anime.”, because it basically gives you the exact same experience, if not more than the game, if you’re not able to buy Persona 4 Golden at the moment and the dub even elevates what was already a fantastic cast in my opinion.

Now in all seriousness the Bleach fillers are only disliked because Pierrot showed entire filler arcs in the middle of cannon arcs or even fights, so no matter how good those filler arcs were, and some of them were pretty good, they were practically guaranteed to be disliked by fans
I watched Bleach weekly from the Soul Society arc all the way to the OG anime's ending, so I get what you mean lol! I remember how much hate those arcs got in real time, but it's nice to see some of them get more love after so much time has passed. Our point was more how, nowadays, the slice-of-life (i.e. slower) arcs that are canon to the manga even tend to get hated on more by any given fanbase. This is mostly referring to the newer shonen anime adaptations nowadays. Most of them only stick to what's in the manga right? (As in, they wait until there's more manga finished before making the next season vs. coming up with an anime-only season). What's more, sometimes only a singular slice-of-life episode will still be labeled filler & therefore boring :( The concept is similar to how it's so common for youtube videos (& especially short-form content) to constantly add additional editing, effects, etc at least every 5 seconds to keep the attention of viewers 😅

I played Persona 3 vanilla. Did everything except Elizabeth. Then did it again for FES. Still have both on my shelf. When I was dating my wife, I loaned her P3FES, and she wound up spending 200 hours playing; it was her first JRPG.
I actually did play the vanilla persona 3 as well but ironically notnuntil after i had FES. I was at a job corps a big one in san marcos tx, they had put in a game room with ps2 slims and crts so i brought fes there to play, well eventually bags were banned and we couldnt bring our shit in with us. So we hid our bags but not well enough my entire collection was stolen including fes. So that weekend i bought the vanilla persona 3 at gamestop and restarted. Cause i didnt even know there was two versions.
I started with vanilla P3. In fact, Vanilla P3 is one of the two games (the other one being FFXII) that made me switch from the Xbox I bought day 1 to a PS2. Being in Europe, finding FES was a pain in the a**, I even played P3P before FES. Atlus and number of printed copies in EU has always been an issue, and for add-on discs it was even worse. Anyway, I had read good things about the first Persona games, the japanese trailer had me convinced to buy P3 on its release date, and I was clearly not disappointed, still have very fond memories of my initial playthrough. Of all the Persona series I played (P3 & FES on PS2, P1, P2 and P3P on PSP, P4 on PSV, P4G and P5 on PS4, P5R and P5Strikers on PC), it's still one of if not my favorite. PS : sorry for the bad english, it's not my natural language and I haven't used it in a while.
I first found out about p3 after playing p5 when i was around 11 years old, but i didn't play it until a year later when i was 12, and it really resonated with me because around that time, i had a huge fear of death and i couldn't bring it up even once, from what i remember i think that was because a lot of my family members were passing out around that time, and i couldn't sleep properly for atleast 2 months straight, but after playing p3fes, that fear sort of started fading away thanks to how the cast was written and also the message of the game, and even tho i was a middle schooler, i still related so much to the cast despite most of them being high schoolers, and to this day it's still my favorite persona game.
I played vanilla p3 on release but I didn't finish it and watched my girlfriend at the time play the game. Persona 4 was what got me hooked. My first megaten game though was nocturne
@ Bubbletea I pre ordered P3 so yes I played the og. Revelations was the 1st game I played by Atlus so I started my Atlus collection from there. After Nocturne I had to have every SMT game. So of course when P3 was announced I jumped on it. When it comes to the Persona series P3 is definitely my favorite and I’m more than hyped for Reload.
I maybe weird because, I played vanilla Persona 3 because I'm just a completionist when it comes to Persona game, some say I'm crazy but I also played every version of Persona 5 for PS3 and PS4 then Royal for PS4 again for Switch then a third time for Xbox Series and PC because why not the only Version of Persona 5 I didn't play is P5R for the PS5 because I don't have a PS5 right now and thinks it would kind of redundant but I own Persona 5 like 6 times so I really cant say. Thinking about it, I still need to complete P3P the only modern Persona game I have not completed, reason being didn't really care for the FeMc that much and the Visual Novel presentation turns me off because its way better with them FMV and 3d cutscenes.
I started playing persona through FES but was aware of the greater megaten series through DDS. Both were accidental pickups around launch. I was an edgy 11 year old who saw both of them in a hmv at the time and begged my parents to buy them and that led me into getting deep into the megaten series properly as I got older. I've still got my FES box and disc to this day
Great games, loved the mantra system and atma points. Never got round to finishing them as I wasn't really smart enough to abuse the press turn system and buffs like I should have
For me started with P5 on the PS3 still goateed, then I saw funny clips of P4 anime online thought it would be good. P4 was okay. Then played P3Fes feel in love with the vibes, story, music, characters. For me the Gold standard for Persona games is between P5 and P3. A big reason I don't care to much about P4 now is because of the Reddit/RU-vidrs over exenterating how good the game was when it over all okay to good. Now I learned P3 and P5 content creators are chill well rounded people
Love to see the only down to earth chill Persona youtubers are P3 youtubers, I feel like P4 vids and youtubers over exaggerate thr vids on P4 to make it feel disingenuous. Same with people on reddit
One day we might talk about our thoughts on P4 and mine are... interesting. Let's just say I had a major "redemption arc" on the game and I really like it now.
G as long as your not on the level of meat riding as "Hiding in Private" and "Nam’s Compendium" in your thoughts of P4 you should be fine. They give me major "I am terminally online Redditor" Vibes. bubbletea take on P4 is top tier. @@BigKlingy

Spoilers for Persona 4. I really liked how they tied the final boss to the main story and it made sense unlike Persona 4 Golden (that final battle came out of nowhere, they really said "you know, today is sunday and I feel like killing a god). What really helped to set the mood in P3 FES was the music ("Living with determination - Iwatodai dorm", and "Memories of the city") and the themes in thr game.
Yeah, it was such a special game for the future of the franchise. Atlus golden era. Although... I never liked it. Not a bad game at all, mind you ! But... too "Evangelion" for me... Death is not a subject I'm comfortable with, nor do I find it interresting. Too dark. Too SMTesque. I prefer lighter subjects and more colorful personnalities. I like my teenagers to act like true teens. It wasn't the case in P3, the cast always felt too adult for me.
