because the title did not explicitly state the video, it entices the user to click saying "what MAGIC is this", which in my opinion was fine because the video showed something was PRACTICALLY MAGIC
Hound Life Vlogs nicely said because for me I always wanted that classic pawns and board rather than just a digital screen. They should have included checkers too.
It's actually a very simple machine, it's basically an electronic magnet attached on an x and y axis kind of like a 3d printer, when it wants to move a piece the magnet goes under where the piece is, turns on thus grabbing it, then moves it to where it wants and shuts off. Not very complicated at all.
*DONT NOT BUY THIS I REPEAT DO NOT* the maker of this "machine" have trapped and tortured an evil spirt in this chess board. And forced it to play chess with you. If you someone how break the machine or let the spirt out in any way it will haunt you for life. *DONT RISK IT*
I was verified with less than that and I didn't even know it. One of my viewers brought it to my attention. He said its probably because I am the founder of 3 Minute Reviews.
I agree with you. About the product: Yes it is a quirk, but it's a fun quirk. It really doesn't look like a p.o.s. nor function like one apparently. It's supposedly only ~$300 usd, the price of a gaming console. To be honest, most that money goes to the software development which I don't mind. Even the official Harry Potter chess set is $345.95+$34.65 tax and $14.99 shipping and there are poorer chess sets that are over $1000 too.
This is probably one of the coolest things I've seen you demo...And it's actually useful. Seems like it would also be nice for two players to play against each other long distance but actually have a physical board to be able to see; like they used to do in the old days when ppl played chess by mail.
I will make an analogy. When people says back then "Wow! Fire can make a meat taste good" and you said" Nope Nothing super futuristic in here, its just a fire that did the job" But U dont recognize that fire can use on many tech that we will call a future tech (Space Throttle, bomb, nuclear etc..). Not because it is just a magnet u will call it nothing super futuristics is a little bit poor observation and analysis thinking. DId you know that magnet has been using in MRI scan which tends to be a future device back then. And now magnets can use to propel something like a train which we call futuristic train.
how it works: It uses a compact 2 axis robotic arm with a magnetic head beneath the box to move the magnetic chess pieces. The AtMega 2560 chip with Bluetooth BLE ensures smooth communication with a smartphone, taking care of decrypting and execution. The most important thing is that it is programmed in a way so that the chess pieces don’t collide during automatic movements.
here's an idea... before the game starts, put all the pieces on board and the board set themselves up ready for a game or even a challenge scenario or a classic game Library replay.
So what it takes to impress you is a chess computer... which is old as hell tech... a few magnets and a plotter arm?????? Really ...... wha.... Dude I take anything else you say from now on less seriously... this is FAR from impressive - especially with all that noise. It sounds like a 90's inkjet printer/scanner ... you know one of those 50$ ones.
AntiHero R I am chill m8... just astonished... LOL! I remember when I was a kid and my dad took me to a "tech con"... We are talking late 80's or early 90's here. They had an industrial robot with which you could play chess or the "5 in a row" game... Now I know back then that was advanced and impressive as fuck........ but back then we are probably talking about a time where the most advanced PC CPU was a 486 - so basically the computing power of one of those "non-smartphones" have - and a time where the electronical control of mechanics was at a WAY less advanced stage! The picture shows a hovering chess piece, and he is sooo impressed with this chessboard... My only question is... Why? I mean... seriously... why?
I just explained it Henrik. The fact that you can play a physical game with someone that's on the other side of the world is why he's so impressed by this because it HAS NOT been done before in a way like this. This is a feat of technology whether you realize it or not. It is, in fact a very impressive thing.
Ryan Jay ... Seriously it has... The "IRL multiplayer" thing is nothing new. I understand you haven't seen it before, but the fact that you are THIS excited about it is really weird. There is nothing revolutionary about it... It is literally putting a small metal object inside each chess piece and placing a XY axis arm under the plate with a magnet and a "up and down head function" to engage or disengage the pieces, and then adding a low res. presure sensitive layer on to. It is old tech used in a slightly novel way. I get going "hay that's pretty cool" - but being this exited... really? If you ever worked with Raspberry PI or something like one of the modern Lego robotics sets, this wouldn't seem that impressive to you. Honestly this could be made by a 15 year old who is into that sorta thing... I'm not even being a troll or overly negative here... It's the truth m8! 20 years ago it would have been way more impressive, but with todays programmable tools/toys this is far less so... and making an app to control it is also fairly easy these days. Another thing to add to this just to hit the nail once more... Why to you need to do the "push" thing with the pieces... Why can't it detect where the pieces are unless you actually tap the piece on the board... It would be REALLY easy to make it so this wasn't necessary.
+henrik No, it is quite new, it's not that i haven't seen it before, it's something that HAS NOT BEEN DONE for any board game. You cannot sit down with someone across the world and play PHYSICAL chess with someone ANY other way then this game. "it would be REALLY easy to make it so this wasn't necessary" Really? I take it you do this sort of thing for a living? Since you appear to know everything about this thing, what's easy, and whats difficult to make in a product like this. Seriously dude, get your head out of your ass. If you think this is so easy and unrevolutionary, GO MAKE IT YOURSELF and stop bitching about things. Seriously your opinion here is shit, go take your shitty attitude and make your shitty opinion somewhere else.
