I would love for the Brontè books, Sherlock Holmes books, Dickens and shakespear in the new editions to be released in boxsets like the Jane Austin collection, children’s classics box set and American classic’s box set

Now I would like to know which books from Macmillan Collector's Library are completely unchanged. Can you answer please?

This is a great video...but I really wish they would decide to publish the Raffles stories. I just love them.

Very interesting. I’d love the job of deciding which classics get published next.

I hope “The Adventure of the Three Gables” does not get censored because I'm planning on buying the Sherlock Holmes books and wouldn't want a censored version of the stories

I don't think the chapter should be rewritten. Who is he to decide what the author wanted to write, regardless if it is received as racist.

Disappointed to hear books being refused a publishing opportunity because of their historical content. I don't approve of racism, sexism or religious intolerance but these books are classic texts and should be read as a product of their time, not censored. If necessary publish with an introduction explaining the difference in attitudes and what would be considered unacceptable today. If you don't publish then someone else will. The books you mentioned are already available from others.

Absolutely agree with you! In addition, I was a bit disappointed to hear they hired someone to rewrite a chapter of a book that they deemed too impolite today. I'd have preferred they left the original text as is and explained in an intro or outro or other note why they find the chapter problematic.

This texts are historical documents. It’s a travesty to have a modern writer rewrite them.

I love these but not really fond of the stark white pages.

I don't believe in editing or censoring literature in order to make it more palatable for todays society. People who are afraid of words, shouldn't read.

Bridget?? You would have issues making that a classic! The fat-shaming and triggering nature of it startling in 2018 it's already reading like a book written longer ago than it was. Making an eating disorder and body dismorphia funny feels so dated which is a shame. The rest is fab but that's just really inappropriate in today's generation. Brilliant video though!! I LOVED Dr Doolittle...I'm itching for a collected unabridged full version of all of them with illustrations all the way throuhg-are you listening? Hint hint :@) I'd Love the next classic to be Shardlake by CJ Sansom..he is not only one of the first to write about a disabled protagonist in historical fiction but his writing and books are incredible...and he is ill and it would cheer him i'm sure. I'd like The Officers daughter to be made a classic.

Oh Shardlake that's a great idea! I'm sure those books will be beloved for a long time...

So, I won’t be buying your edition of Dr Dolittle, then. You have some audacity to rewrite another author’s work.
