As Indonesian 🇮🇩 we eat Cassava leaves as side dish, It's delicious. We also eat poisonous tubers or "Gadung" (Dioscorea hispida) and as spices we use "Kepayang" (Pangium edule) seeds. Poison or not it's about how u cook it.
If it wont kill you it will make you sick. Physically and/or mentally. Any food containing a harmful substance has no minerals so that's BS. Any food you have to cook to dilute the poison should not be eaten at all like cassava & white rice.
Same here...but cyanide issue is real...but its the same for apricot pits..although I won't be eating a pit..but cassava pie, I'v e made a cooked very fully. Delish!
There are 2 types of cassava : 1. The bitter cassava that is very poisonous and kills instantly after eating by humans and animals. 2. The sweet cassava is not poisonous and can be cooked and eaten immediately without any problem.

Pov i am here because i just finish to eat casava flour from ghana, brand name Garri, i think they dont really know how to remove the toxcine, now i am sick, people that are comenting dont know that there are two type of manioc, there is one that can be fatal if eaten raw
It can poison you ifeaten raw, also sone sprcies of almonds can kill you at times same eating tomany apricot seeds, there is also wild yams that can do this, most kassava is harmless but its best to always cook it
In my mother's country. Of origin, cassava pie is a national dish. Its like anything else, when you know how to cook it, it is absolutely safe. No problems whatsoever and its 😋 delicious.
due to poverty man. i grew up eating these. we know its poisonous but the elders knows how to prepare them or else how could they be alive and teaching us these things. in times of low food. u rather eat than starve to death.
@mowgli2071 those things aren't easily digested so I steer clear...not to mention every place that sells them in my city is way overpriced like six to ten bucks for a drink
