What Makes Lego Racers Unique? - WMGU - BeyondPolygons 

You don't know how nostalgic this video made me to this game. I played the living crap out of this game as a kid! Knew every shortcut and whatnot. Even listening to the music made me nostalgic and gave me goosebumps.

The should remake this game considering how big lego is now

The grappling hook is one of my favorite things in this game. It slows the target down while also pulling you forward, its effectiveness depending on both racers' speed and distance. More racing games need a grappling hook.

I remember playing and beating this game for the PC when it first came out. Good times...

using the cannonball to open a shortcut is really interesting it ties the genres items to the racing. It would be cool to see something like that in mario kart among other ways items could interact with the course. For example there could be a variant of the shortcuts in sonic R where players would have to have a certain amount of coins to pay a toll to enter a shortcut.

In this day and age of video games receiving remakes, a game such as this could benefit from a remake. Or make a third game.

So many memories. I had a blast with this game when I was a kid!

In 2018, lego *finally* gave the main character of this game, Rocket Racer, a modern refresh to his design in the Collectible Minifigures series as part of the minifig anniversary collection in the form of Race Car Guy.

I just love this game! You can not only race your opponents but you can also create your own driver, like a futuristic looking driver or a cowboy, and build your own racing kart too, like make it a formula 1 racer or a 4x4 truck. IT IS AMAZING NONETHELESS!

I loved this game to death as a kid i Played on pc

I played the second game very recently and it cannot even compare to this one... It takes place during lego's "dark times" so none of the featured sets nor the cars are interesting. On top of that, the power ups are reworked into being very bland, and It feels like every stage has your car sliding around like it's on ice. Speaking of stages, there is like a single stage but different assortment of checkpoints for each race... Gosh the first LEGO racers is just so much better.

Lego Racers was inspired by Mario Kart 64. Lego Racers 2 was inspired by Diddy Kong Racing. Drome Racers is not a sequel to Lego Racers, as it's a completely different Lego IP with human characters and Technic vehicles!

A conversation between me and my brother almost 20 years ago: "Why are you using the basic car foundation as your racecar? Don't you wanna add some lego bricks to make it look cool?" "No, those would add unnecessary weight. I want to keep my car as light as possible, so it goes faster." Sometimes my brother was a little too smart xD

anybody know a video game like this, specifically for the PS4 or Switch? things i am looking for in this game that made it unique and unlike any other kart racing game I am looking for in another game: 1. the powerups icons being clearly labeled instead of all the same and randomly selected when you drive through one 2. the ability to upgrade your powerups to become stronger 3. shortcuts that are good and that computers ignore 4. unique powerups such as A. remember the Egyptian curse which screws up your controls so that left is right and right is left, that is a good one B. a shield which if powerful enough can reflect certain powerups back at you and even spin out opponents if you hit them C. grappling hook powerup which can drag you ahead of an opponent D. warp turbo which teleports you ahead so you don't have to do any work E. that trap powerup you put behind you that makes whoever gets trapped in it stuck for a few seconds so they can't move 5. the ability to change powerups (like when you had a green brick and drove through a red one, you got the red and the red brick you drove through becomes a green one for the next person who drives through it 6. have boss racers with regular races and one boss who has a habit of using a specific powerup 7. shortcuts that you must open through the use of powerups 8. if you get hit with a powerup when you have an upgrade, you lose that upgrade and someone else can take it 9. the ability to lose your car if you get damaged enough, making you run which is not as fast (this was from Lego Racers 2, and was the only thing about the second game unique and that good that the first one did not) 10. the cars go along straight custom paths every time

The controls were a bit weird in this game, sliding too much made me feel dizzy. But damn, I LOVED the power-ups and their colors! So awesome.

This seriously should be remade with online and offline multiplayer, one of those rare games I would honestly pay out the full price.

They should release some(sort of a) lego racers where you can build your own levels🤤

#1 CTR #2 Lego Racers #3 Mario Kart 64 Totally objective ranking. I consider Mario Kart 64 is pretty fun (and btw it's Mario universe) but it is totally not generous in term of content...

The graphics are actually much better in the PC version. The one in the video is the PS1 version.
