@@razorsharp170haha I was going to say! 😂 hard to tell via text sometimes haha Really though, considering the handmade USA made leather sheath and Ulti clip you get with this knife and if you obtain points on their site to get a discount, it’s a pretty good value IMO.
Just bought one! Living outside the US, free shipping is a huge selling point and in reality made it possible for my to buy a 300 dollar knife instead of a 230 dollar knife at "the same price". Very excited!
I hate when people call stuff overpriced when it’s not but this is definitely overpriced in my opinion… overpriced magnacut just because of the name and that’s legit a $10 piece of leather for the sheath…
@@LL-ty7wr is it tho? Are you really using your warranty that much? I’d say 70% of people buying this knife probably don’t even use it and they baby it in a safe
@@calebs7567yeah but for those of us who do use the knife it’s worth the price if it breaks or is lost or stolen then it’s definitely worth it in my opinion
I love the handle design, and how the leather sheath fits in the pocket. I wish other companies would follow suit! There are so many great fixed blades that come with a sheath that isn’t what I’m looking for.
Architect AK3 is about $160 for 62hrc magnacut, great usa made kydex or leather sheath, and lifetime warranty. They say if you break it at any time, they'll replace for free. I've personally had great experience with their customer service; the owner Ethan Stoops usually will handle it personally. And it's White River making the blades, and you can order the blade only for $86 and make your own handle or sheath. It's pretty crazy no one is talking about the AK3 in the EDC fixie craze, it's maybe the highest value US made fixed blade.
The tough part is that you have reviewed so many great knives that qualify as a fix blade edc knife. I did find a source for the discontinued fixed blade Buck knife and it is great.
I'm still loving my ESEE3 S35VN I bought awhile back. It's pretty much the same size as this Reif knife. Also the ESEE Xancudo 3" fixed has replaced all my folders I never took small fixed knives seriously until I bought it.
Been a dedicated folding knife guy for EDC use the entire time ive been able to. I really do have to agree with you though on this last year or so being an amazing time for the EDC fixed blade market. This newest Reiff blade may just get me to change my mind.
I’m excited for the Circadian, I’ve been eager for it for awhile before they released. It’s gonna be cool to see what other variants they come out with.
Would love to see a version with a 3 3/4" blade with a bit more tip drop. I do loke these handles a lot better compared to the boxy, roundish ones on the 3. Great video, great knife. Good job Aaron, thanks.
61- 63 is Benchmades hrc and Spyderco's, Artisan is using 63hrc & Tactile us using 63-64hrc. Steve Callari Customs is doing 64hrc on magnacut. Don't waste your money if it isn't 62 & up in hrc for magnacut you are buying S30v. Remember also if the blade is DLC it's going to have a lower HRC due to having to reheat it for the DLC.
60-61 hrc magnacut is still a lot tougher than s30v and more stainless. Especially for a fixed blade, that extreme toughness would be nice, as well as stainlessness. Also, toughness goes way down at 64 and up according to Larrin. So it's all about what you want, and if a little extra wear resistance is worth the drop in toughness. I agree 62-63 is probably best for smaller knives, but it's not that deep
What a Beauty ! Unfortunately the stonewashed Version are already sold out. But will keep an eye on it and probably hoping for some kind of special offer as it is somewhat pricey as are all REIFF knives. Thanks for the review.
Where I live this knife is $410 out of my range for a small knife I’ve been using a bk eskabar with esee izula scales out of all these fancy super steels I still fall back to 1095 lol
I absolutely love that knife. I love the sheath also. That’s often the most overlooked aspect of a knife. You always do a good job of pointing out the quality, or lacked there of, of the sheath. Anyway, another awesome video and knife!
@@gideonstactical, my Sencillo has a very nice, even grind, but the stock sheath isn't great. I purchased an aftermarket Armatus Carry sheath and an Ulticlip.
Nice knife, but over valued imo and it being consistently out of stock is annoying. You could buy a Lionsteel M5 and T5 for that price, or Joker’s Nomad + Campero + Lynx. I’m all for buying American, but sometimes there is better value elsewhere.
Thanks for sharing this, Aaron. And thanks for the generous giveaway opportunity! Oh, I'm a lover of broad blades, personally - better slicers, in general.
Reiff just kick more and more goals with every new drop . I have the F4 & F6 in 3V which I love but living in a humid area they really suffer with corrosion . Keen to see how these magnacuts hold up as I have a TJ Schwarz overland which is incredible it takes the salt air really well 😊
G'day Aaron, nice one and certainly cant complain about the warranty. I like both handle, and blade, styles .... depends what you predominately want to do with it. Main thing for me is to have at least 4 in. of "usable" grip even with only a 3-4 in. blade. (and girthier the better, mind you, for a carver I dont care quite so much). Also, whilst I am EDC-ing small fixies a lot more, can't say I'm a fan of in, (or on), pocket carry, that remains the realm of the folder IMO. ....... i.e. a pocket knife ; ) Cheers Duke. P.S. I note in the comments, price is a big deal, ..and yes it is, this one is out of my zone too. However, if that is the case, I'd suggest, without gett'n all bitter and twisted, simply look at it design/concept wise and appreciate it, or not, on that basis alone and move on. Aaron looks at many, many right across the price spectrum.
Nice looking knife, I like the blade design and the interchangeable scales. Awesome for edc, love the pocket clip and leather sheath. Excellent review GT!
Interesting EDC knife and leather sheat design. I like it. Good ergonomics, rounded handle, short knife, perfect. But $280? So probably 320 Euro. It is way about my limit i would spend for a EDC knife. I would bite on my thumb if i lose it. 😂
Definitely like pocket fixed blades. This one is just too darn expensive. Looks interesting though. Maybe they'll release it in 1095. For less than half the price.
Wow. This really looks like a ursus Cub knockoff. Chunky fat blade and much thicker handle than all previous Reiff designs. Would be very interesting to see those two knives side by side. Cub is $200 in Magnacut, btw.
Reminds me of the Schnitzel TRI (Sandvic 14C28N), especially the Special Edition (CPM 3V). The prices of knives these days are often crazy, in that price range I would spend a couple of bucks more and buy a TRC South Pole or Pohlheim.
I've got the Ontario spl pack knife, the ESEE sencilio, and the White River Ursus Cub with aftermarket scales. I think I'm good on Magnacut EDC fixed blades for now thanks.
ESEE knives or Topps. Great American built fixed blades at a fraction of the price. What’s the use in carrying a tiny fixed blade when you can carry a folder with the same or larger blade? I don’t get it. If I carry a fixed blade it for heavy duty use or self protection, I wouldn’t think to use a tiny fixed blade for either. What can it do that say a Cold Steel Recon 1 in Magnacut couldn’t? Some people think they need all these high priced gizmos when all they really need is an Ozark Trail 10 dollar D2 special.
I am so looking forward to getting this knife... someday. :)) I think this will be much better than the than the ESEE Sencillo because of the handle/stocks/grip/whatever for extended periods of work. For pocket carry, I'm surprised they didn't go with Kydex in a taco style.
Perfect edc fixed blade for urban scenarios is the one piece skletonized knife like MKC made and benchmade adamas fixed blade. Thin, dependable steel, long enough more than 4 inch actual edge. Knife with thick profile and thick handle is a nonsense for a fixed blade edc unless your everyday is the jungle.
