What Makes The Mk4 Mjolnir Armor So Cool? 

I love the Mark IV just because Jerome being a badass in halo wars and the fact his weapon of choice to fight the flood is a folding chair.

Well other then the plain fact of halo wars, Mk IV is extremely awesome, because it fulfills that human wrecking crew aspect of armor, while still looking great.

Other than adding a Shoulder pad with a Knife, I can't Change the color of the Mark lV, it's too perfect. The military green is just soo good

The mark 4 looks like the silhouette of a chiselled addonis human with a chunky plated tank aesthetic layered over it , thats what makes it pop so hard, the helmet literally has a jaw line, nose line, a thick powerful brow, the features we subconsciously note on impressive looking highly masculine men. The design mirrors the iconic design language of ancient spartan helmet that also have the exaggerated jaw, straight nose, brow cut ect. and like some ancient Greek plates the rest emphasises their bodies, wide shoulders, large pecs, thick arms and legs. They look beefy, a chiselled human tank, clean and strong.

Didn't know the Mark IV in Infinite is canon. I mean I know the armor is canon but I didn't know there was a reason for it in the customization.

I'm completely obsessed with MKIV Mjolnir Armor for some reason, the moment I saw it for the first time in a Halo Wars trailer I was instantly hooked

I like how thick the armour is. Probably because there are no shields, it needs it more, especially against plasma.

Mark IV just screams "Spartan". you feel so strong you could withstand a MAC round just by using your chest armor, send a grunt flying just by ramming him, knock a brute out cold with one upper cut. A group of Spartan's wearing all Mark IV's charging up to me would terrify me more than the modern ones the Spartan IV's wore when they first came out

Fun fact, the stolen shield tech was upgraded on as well to the point that ONI declared it a strategic advantage, hence Mjolnir suits having the self destruct failsafe

I think a big factor of the MK IV's quality is its almost perfect level of bulkiness. It isn't too bloated like MK V but it has a silhouette that appears bulkier than MK VI.

Best looking armor and I like the fact that it’s the armor the 2s started out with way back 2525.

As a huge halo wars Fan, Mark IV has always been my favorite. It’s also the uniformity of it all and seeing everyone rock the same armor but with small variations In my opinion. Mark IV is THE spartan armor. It’s just very cool and basic. Straight forward and says a lot without doing much. It gives the “I’m about to fuck all this shit up” vibe lmao

Out of all the different armors on MkIV, I love Robert’s armor from Omega team the best

For me its 3 reasons Its Bulky yet "Athletic" Its not all around big like the halo 3 armor, The chest and shoulders are bigger making the Spartan look more Lean. #2 The Top of the helmet almost looks like a rim of a cap. Like a navy seal wearing cap on mission The Visor Looks "Angey" without overdoing it like Lockes #3 weve seen it in action unlike many of the other armors

Ahhh, Mk.4. Built to withstand most ballistic projectiles, as well as limited protection against plasma, slim and nimble enough for acrobatic combat. My head canon is that Mk.4 was designed to be sleak yet tankish to take a beating but maintain mobility, whereas the Delta variant (Halo CE) of Mk.5 was built mostly for tanking hits and increasing ammo capacity, less so for acrobatics. Mk.6 went back to sleak and nimble but with improved shielding obviously.

So Halsey wanting to upgrade the old mk4s, I’d hope this is a hint towards Jerome making an appearance in the mainline games. Jerome and Isabel working alongside Chief and Weapon to pursue Atriox would be awesome

I think Kelly and Linda should have gotten the upgraded GEN3 Mk4.

well in the lore it gave us on the update it says that they recovered the engrams to build it again but this time reforged for the new gen and now this thing packs quite the punch i would dare say evem more so than mark 7 and 6 together

My all time favorite is the very MKIV armor that was all over the cover art of the early books. Namely Fall of Reach. I loved the number on the chest plate, the larger pauldrons, the arm band design around the arm/ bicep. My second favorite is the MKVI variant that Cortana modified for Chief in Halo 4 and 5. It's very juggernaut. Apparently she was able to manipulate the nanites to evolve his armor.

I'm between IV and the Mirage, they actually feel like armor with someone inside and not just something designed for a game

Definitely the most aesthetically pleasing. My only gripe is the helmet. I think it'd look much better with a sleeker 117-ish look.

Honestly my favorite design of MJOLNIR. It's bulky without being too much like Halo 4 and 5 Master Chief, and that helmet in particular looks so cool, I love the smooth mouthpiece. Might be outdated but just give it shields and refurbishing and the new grappling hook and it's good to go, the best one

What makes the original mojlnir armors so cool is, weirdly enough, they're uniformity. They worked, fought, bled and died as a team. Spartan 4's feel like a bunch of kids playing dress up so they can be like their Dad. The original stories felt like a military sci-fi shooter, the new stuff feels like a kids show.

Mark IV is my favourite due its design and functionality. I honestly wished tge UNSC didn’t phased it out just added or improve the armour instead of replacing fully 😢

My favourite armours are Mk 6 mod Gen 2, MK4, MK 7. Im loving my infinite spartan. Mk 7 with some mk5 core options mixed in like juns helmet and jorges shoulder. Cross core has given me so many options, and my spartan is the best it has looked in any halo.

NGL I like Mark 7 armor the most. It’s a nice and sleek design.

Thought Mk4 was a stylized Mk6 for years, loved the design since Halo Legends.

Personally my favourite part about Mk.IV is the helmet. But overall the whole design is only what I could call a stroke of genius because there is no other way to describe it. It's clearly stylized and exaggerated because it was created for an RTS game. You need some features to stick out more when looking at minatures from great distance. But at the same time it remains believable and stylistically consistent with the rest of the franchise. It doesn't deviate and uses a ton of the same design language used in other Spartan armors, specifically Mk. V. In fact it almost looks like a merge of Mk. V and Mk. VI in many ways. Except all their most defining features are more pronounced. As to the helmet, they somehow managed to make it look ergonomic, utilitarian, practical and militaristic but at the same time like something that will look imposing and calming depending on from what angle you view it from (or who's side you're on). The big reason I prefer it over Mk. VI for example is because MkVI from most angles looks very neutral. It can't convey much of an emotional response by itself. Mk.IV on the other hand when viewed from the bottom, with the spartan looking into the disance, sun reflecting from the golden visor. It looks almost wide eyed and hopeful. When viewed head on it has more of a neutral look, although still quite intense. It doesn't evoke a strong emotonal response but you can feel the Spartan is clearly looking as something with intent, surveying his sorrounding and analysing everything he sees. But when the Spartan takes combat position with his head slightly down, the helmet looks angry and focused. Like the Spartan is about to pounce on you and you can do nothing about it. All this despite the design itself being quite minimalistic as well. It doesnt have many defining design features to begin with. The big golden visor, vents at the bottom and a big brim to complete the design.

My only gripe with mk4 is that the back is flat and the thruster fin things dont continue down the back like on mk 6 which i think looks very cool. Apart from that i think it is the coolest looking armour. Even the undersuit looks armoured

Great video, and the Mark IV is easily my favorite Mjolnir suit in the games, ever since Halo Wars. Just two questions: 1. What is that model and concept art at 1:48? It looks like a hybrid of Mark IV and V, and I love it! 2. Was there ever a lore reason to the Mark IV having two differently sized shoulders as its standard issue? I've tried finding it but with no luck. Also, I hope they add the left shoulder to Halo Infinite.

As much as I like my Mark 6 kit. The CQB helmet, GND left shoulder and odst right look better on the Mark 4. Be better if I had nicer purple coatings. Old Voodoo doesn't look bad but is only available on 2 cores so been using Cadet Violet since the start

Spartan II's in Mark IV's fighting humans is just an overkill.

Its a cooler looking version of the MK5 armor. But canoncally its the weakeat armor, even a charged plasma pistol shot put a hole in it and had no shields, its also the first armor that the teenage spartans used briefly against insurrectionists, till the covenant came and realized our armor is shit against plasma weaponry which led to the development of the MK5

To answer the title question: the MK IV, unlike the V and VI, doesn't look good or push tech in the same way as the other suits. It's there to do a single job, and do it well. There's no finesse, no elegance, no aesthetic (though it looks good). It's function over form in the purest sense.

I wouldn’t say mk iv is the toughest mjolnir armor but is up there sure, I’ll give credit to infinite master chief armor, that armor withstood atriox blows and maze better than mk iv did, not to mention the sub monitor beam. I remember quite well that 343 gs beam had chief almost incapacitated, but now he just block monitors beam like it’s nothing

This may be an uncommon opinion but I don’t think we’ve had a bad version of Mjolnir. The Mark V is a classic. Mark VI feels more real, practical and militaristic. Mark VI Gen 2 felt like the armor was more integrated with the wearer and felt very technologically advanced. But damn the Mark IV is just a beast! It makes the Spartans wearing it feel like a tank and I love it for that.

Why MkIV is so cool? Because it was an armor that made Spartans the Spartans and didn't create in devs minds an image of Spartans who just tank incoming shots just because they have shields now. (like Chief did in intro of Infinite)
