Story wise its boring and mutiplayer removed core elements of the halo franchise like fighting over power weapons, as for the story i found it boring but not bad although they traded master chiefs cool ass space marine armor with a iron maiden push up bra and tookk away that sweet ass space diaper for no reason i dont understand why you wouldnt just keep the o'g spartans with the same armor doesn't make much sense lore wise either cause they never say or mention that it changed. GIVE ME MY GOD DAMNED SPACE DIAPER BACK! also halo online is a thing for pc so if 343 cant pull themselves together and make another good game like reach i will probably just get my fix form halo online forever.
I prefer your vids on creatures but I was curious. Anyway the spartan 4s sound like they're easier to make but would be less powerful. The spartan 2s meanwhile seem like they're more powerful but take longer to make and are harder to produce in quantity.
oh what I said about quantity vs time vs quality? forgot to mention gardening has a RL analog for that when it comes to growing fruit and medicinal plants vs growing vegetables. And this idea about time being a factor to limit quantity and quality also effects the price of meat and animal products. Cotton and wool for example are more natural, but the quantity per year is limited by the life cycle of the plants and animals it comes from. Its why eggs are so cheap but beef is so expensive, why fruits cost way more than say green beans or broccoli and why apples and oranges are cheaper than say blueberries. Longer life cycle=more time and resources needed to raise more of them. But also the apple and orange groves are better established so they're easier to produce in quantity because you're just maintaining them. Kinda like the Spartan 2s. >.< no now I'm thinking of a master chief made out of apples. fuck my imagination! Kinda impersonal to compare spartans to crops but the same principle of energy expenditure and time applies.
One issue with the info in the video is Orion Project had 300 Supersoldiers at the height of the program after its relaunch. So nearly 300 supersoldiers returned to service when the Orion Project was terminated. Some of them have had children and retired at this point in halo. But obviously not all of them. We only know of a handful of them. So Sgt.Maj. Johnson likely isn't the only " Spartan 1's" in service at this point. Ps. If you really look at veterans compared to civilians there is a major difference in personality between veterans who have seen combat and your average COD playing civilian. The military is known to age soldiers faster than they would have aged as civilians.
Here’s a correction on Johnson’s ability to avoid converting to the flood: His nervous system was so scrambled that it was too difficult for the flood infection forms to consider viable.
Because Johnson was suppose to be a spartan 1 which he was he did get infected a bit when he went on the mission with Keyes when he got captured.Johnson did have a flood infection latch onto his neck but didn’t fully convert him but it gave him some side effects which one of them was regeneration
@@RoanokeGaming very late, but the clones in SW where essentially 9 year olds mentally in the bodies of adults. They were only tactical geniuses due to 9 years of military education. However their emotions and pattern recognition would have been severely underdeveloped due to not having been exposed to as many stimuli as the average 18 year old.
Roanoke Gaming I'm not sure if it's true, but ive heard that ODST's are given augmentations (not Spartan level augmentations, but still) so their bones are able to stand the sheer force of their pod smashing into the ground
DLDouble G I have! But honestly, who didn't see that coming? I may do a video on halo online tell people to calm down, we all knew this was gonna happen, but the caste system I would have to research! I haven't heard too much of it. Could be pretty sweet tho, good idea brah
yeah, honestly nothing has really changed when it come to halo online, you can still download the game, just not from the eldewrito website, you may have seen my comment with like 200 likes on LateNightGaming's video with the download link for the game, the only thing that has really changed is that creators cant make videos on the game, and even that punishment isn't likely to last very long
They are monsters. Kinda shows you have big the elites are and why they are so threatening. Elites are like 7'6 to 8'2. Imagine fighting something towering over you by 2 feet. No thanks haha
Speaking of Locke, the thing I don't understand is why everyone thinks it is outrageous that he was able to hold his own against MC for a short time. I mean prior to the weaker Spartan IV augmentations Locke was one of the deadliest humans in ONI. So I'm not making the case that he could actually beat MC, but hold his own for the 30 seconds isn't too far of a stretch.
Plus thanks to great advancements in Mjionir technology the Gen 2 helped him match the super human capabilities of the Spartan-IIs, allowing him to hold his ground againts chief
The spartan in personal rankings: Spartan 1s lights modified marines Spartan 2s kidnapped children with special genetic marking to near unbreakable bones and trained, genetically and physically modified since childhood the perfect super soldiers Spartan 3: marines who volunteered and with highly customizable armor and I considered a good spartan substitute that earns the chief seal of approval Spartan 4s: glorified odst in space stripper armor and a inferior shadow of the spartan 2s
Spartan 3s were kids orphaned by the covenant, told to hate the covenant, and trained to kill the covenant. On average they were weaker than Spartan 2s, but could occasionally match them in speed and strength, if only for a little while.
Spartan IIIs are my personal favorites. More specifically the Mjolnir versions. They are slightly below Spartan II level of strength but they are more specialized and more aggressive. Not to mention how awesome their armor is.
With the release of the Halo Encyclopedia came new Spartan Bio-Metric Information, combining this with the Bio-Metric Information garnered from the Official Spartan Field Manual and other game pre-release sources we finally have a clearer picture of the Bio-Metric standings of each class safe for the original Orion candidates of whom we only have 1 example of which is Avery Johnson. (Before beginning I would like to clarify that the height data presented in both passages (Halo Encyclopedia and Official Spartan Field Manual) are Mjolnir Armored and SPI Armored height ranges but that luckily we are able to convert that into their baseline augmented height as we know mjolnir makes an operator 9.7 centimeters taller than their base height and while SPI is not as bulky as Mjolnir does possess a similar baseline framework and components.) [Starting off with the Spartan II's] Spartan Gender: Male Spartan Height Range (Mjolnir): 7 ft 1 Inches - 7 ft 7 Inches Spartan Height Range (Out of Mjolnir): 6 ft 9 Inches - 7 ft 3 Inches Spartan Weight Range (Out of Mjolnir): 290 lbs - 358 lbs Tallest Known Spartan II Male (Out of Mjolnir): Kurt - 051 (7 ft 3 Inches and 358 lbs) Spartan Gender: Female Spartan Height Range (Mjolnir): 6 ft 11 Inches - 7 ft Spartan Height Range (Out of Mjolnir): 6 ft 7 Inches - 6 ft 8 Inches Spartan Weight Range (Out of Mjolnir): 242 - 247 lbs Tallest Known Spartan II Female (Out of Mjolnir): Linda - 058 (6 ft 8 Inches and 247 lbs) [Followed by the Spartan III's] Spartan Gender: Male Spartan Height Range (Mjolnir/SPI): 6 ft 4 Inches - 6 ft 11 Inches Spartan Height Range (Out of Mjolnir): 6 ft - 6 ft 7 Inches Spartan Weight Range (Out of Mjolnir): 202.8 - 265 lbs Tallest Known Spartan III Male (Out of Mjolnir): Jun - A266 (6 ft 7 Inches and 244 lbs) Spartan Gender: Female Spartan Height Range (Mjolnir/SPI): 6 ft 2 Inches - 6 ft 9 Inches Spartan Height Range (Out of Mjolnir): 5 ft 10 Inches - 6 ft 5 Inches Spartan Weight Range (Out of Mjolnir): 172 - 229 lbs Tallest Known Spartan III Female (Out of Mjolnir): Kat - B320 (6 ft 5 Inches and 215 lbs) Note: I did not factor in Lucy - B091 as her diminutive size was considered to be an anomaly within the Spartan III Program. For those of you curious, her SPI and Mjolnir Armored Height is 5 ft 3 Inches which would make her unarmored height 4 ft 11 Inches and she weighed 177 lbs. Don't mistake it for weakness however as detailed in Legacy of Onyx, she was able to contend with and even beat Spartan III Male Tom - B292 who had a Mjolnir Armored Height of 6 ft 9 Inches and an unarmored height of 6 ft 5 Inches, he also weighed 265 lbs. [Ending with the Spartan IV's] Spartan Gender: Male Spartan Height Range (Mjolnir): 6 ft 9 Inches - 7 ft 3 Inches Spartan Height Range (Out of Mjolnir): 6 ft 5 inches - 6 ft 11 Inches Spartan Weight Range (Out of Mjolnir): 249 - 293 lbs Tallest Known Spartan IV Male (Out of Mjolnir): Tomas Horvath (6 ft 11 Inches and 293 lbs) Spartan Gender: Female Spartan Height Range (Mjolnir): 6 ft 7 Inches - 7 ft Spartan Height Range (Out of Mjolnir): 6 ft 3 Inches - 6 ft 8 Inches Spartan Weight Range (Out of Mjolnir): 224 - 245 lbs Tallest Known Spartan IV Female (Out of Mjolnir): Naiya Ray (6 ft 8 Inches and 245 lbs)
Love the content! I think the choice of music is a little odd for discussing halo but im just being nitpicky at that point. Keep up the great work you just earned a subscriber!
Got to say spartan threes are the best Spartans in my opinion, they are cheaper and faster to make. Plus the orphan idea is amazing, loyalty would always be 100% they would never betray the UNSC. They are not doing this for the UNSC they doing this for their family, the UNSC is giving them that choice big word CHOICE they were not kidnaped they picked this path. I would not be surprise if their was a 0% deserting rate, not counting they are orphans no one would care if they disappear which makes it a lot more easier to work with.
My personal opinion. I like the Spartan III's, I hate the Spartan IV's they should never have been introduced to the game /lore, one of the things that make the halo Spartans actually Spartans is that there trained constantly from childhood to be the perfect soldiers just like the ancient Spartan from where they get there name.... But finally for me since I played halo from the first release on the xbox, read every book so far the only true Spartans are the SPARTAN II's. For me halo needs a new Spartan II program if the series is ever to continue if the chief ever dies.
If Chief dies I would not be averse to Jerome 092 taking his place with Isabel as his A.I. At least we'd still be following an O.G. spartan II of the caliber of John 117. The cool thing however with having Isabel, a logistics A.I. as his personal A.I. would be that we get to experience what seeing a true spartan in action would feel like, because Cortana always knew what a Spartan could do and was never surprised at 117's badassitude but Isabel in Halo wars 2 is always genuinely surprised when she sees Jerome do something crazy and that's what I think we need.
Basically the whole program timeline was for a return of the Orion program. So while Spartan 4's are not true Spartans they are descendants of the Orion program.
Sgt. Johnson was ignore by the flood due to a health condition caused by the over use of plasma grenades. Comment section correct me if I am wrong please.
As much as many people hate the Spartan IVs for some dumb reason, I actually like them. As long as they help the fate of humanity, then I consider them true Spartans.
“Max Power, he's the man whose name you'd love to touch, but you mustn't touch! His name sounds good in your ear, but when you say it, you mustn't fear!” Homer Simpson.
Hey great video! Been really digging the content you've been creating, keep them coming! I do have a question, what game/trailer/short is the clip from about 6:20-6:35 from? Thanks!
Thanks for the compliment bro! I believe that's the clip where Dr Halsey is talking about her programs, I will have to look it up on the comp when I get home!
Lol, at the time he made this he didn’t have 250 subs? This guy is great and he puts a ton of effort in! 250 subs? You should be aiming for the frickin’ moon!
wot i want from halo infinite 1. reach artstyle noona that blocky halo 3 shit or plastic halo 5 garbage, give me the worn rugged realistic armor 2. split screen (ik this will come) 4. firefight 5. the old elites/grunts (i like the the new jackals but i want the old ones too)
1:23 actually the best soldiers in ancient grece had argos, sparta had pretty bad army, but they had the best diplomats that helped them avoid war, and anyway, 300 is not historicaly accurate, even in termopylae battle grece had 4000-5000 warriors, and persian numbers weren't know since it cloudn't be 100000000 warriors.
They were for a short period but the peloponnesian wars after the Persian wars pretty ensured Sparta superiority over argos and Athens, argos was a powerful city state but quickly fell in to Spartas and Athens shadow
No it was explained in the books it was because he used an entire crate of plasma grenades that gave him some kind of benign cancer it’s covered in the book after the flood I can’t remember the name
Johnson wasn't infected because he used an ENTIRE crate of plasma grenades against covenant forces. The radiation and EMF caused him to develop Boren's Syndrome
Is it ever explained why they genetically manipulate children rather than embryos or even zygotes? Wouldn't it make more sense to start the developmental changes far, far earlier?
Sometimes sacrifices must be made I’d give up my childhood my life to give humanity a future we should understand that we would have gone extinct without them also spartan threes were collasal failures
What about the Titian, Achilles programs, Orion 1 was the 1960's version of the Spartan initiative, the birth of the Super Soldier initiative were the would use drugs LSD and such to make a combat efficient soldier, this was done by all the services but especially with the marines, army and air force. They used kids also don't think the USA didn't do what is done by the smaller countries like in Africa, China, Korea, Vietnam and others. Back to Halo they called Halsey a war criminal by ONI sanctioned they Spartan program, now they didn't say anything about that. They threw away a lot of Spartan 3's, which they probably wanted to do because of the amount of orphans they had to deal with and as the adults were most killed in action.
Spartan was a demonym that was of or pertaining to the city-state of Sparta, and its people. What you're thinking of were merely called hoplites; a militia. However, Sparta's hoplites were indeed the most formidable, due to having greater training than any other hoplites throughout Hellas, as they could just have slaves work their farms while they themselves would get into combat training. As for the accuracy in portraying them in the movie 300, however... Yeah, it's trash for any sort of historical education. It seems to refuse to portray anything accurately to history, from making the hoplites completely naked (when we know that part of why they were so formidable was due to them being some of the most heavily armoured), to showing the Spartan forces to have been completely alone in the Battle of Thermopylae (when there was a forces of supporters defending somewhere else), to even deciding that the Persian Immortals were the supposed ODST's if you will of the Persian Army, when in reality they were more like grunts, namely due to how many there would be, and their constantly replenishing armies, maintaining a constant number of soldiers, which gives the impression that they were all *immortal*. Hell, they didn't even show Greek tactics with any sort of accuracy, when the phalanx was arguably some of the easiest stuff to get right. It should also be mentioned that well after the Battle of Thermopylae took place, then the Athenians would defeat them just by placing their strongest hoplites at the left-hand side of the phalanx rather than the traditional right-hand side. And there was a good reason why the strongest hoplites would be placed at the right-hand side due to the way their shields were shaped encouraging them to stick with their fighting force.
So technically that means that Avery Johnson is a spartan in sheep's clothing aka marine armor? I assume that because when Tarturus threw the 343 monitor at his head in halo 2, he took that like it was nothing and brutes are strong af
Her research saved the human race... it was a necessary sacrifice... it created the finest warriors the galaxy had seen.. last thing the covenant wanted to see was one spartan2 let alone a group of them. They gave earth a fighting chance.. without them the covenant probably would have won
I feel the next halo game should have it where you can choose be one of four types of Spartans and each would have their own benefits like Spartan 3s get armor abilities from reach and halo 4 Spartan fours have their Spartan 1s have access to similar gear as odsts lacking the mjolnir armor but making up for it with lots of equipment like from halo 3 they can employ and Spartan 2s are gifted the ability to dual wield and have it where they are bigger and stronger with the fastest sprint speed And Spartan 4s would have their Spartan abilities that let them traverse the environment quickly. But all four types of spartans should be able to atleast climb up and vault over things to certain degrees.
To preface, I aint finished the video yet. Paused it :P One thing I always wondered: Whether the prototype suit from Halo legends was canon. More importantly, whether it was tied to the Orion project. A (sort of) normal marine did alotta damage in the p.suit, so Johnson or someone like that in there would have to be even more formidable in theory..... Though if I'm not mistaken the suit was limited to close range wireless power transfer, with no true power supply such as that seen in mjolnir. So it was still very limited (should I be correct there).
If I remember the lore correctly, the prototype suit in the episode in question led to the development of the Mantis in Halo 4, so still a prototype but just not for any Mjolnir projects
I thought Johnson didn't get turned by the flood because he had a disease that affected his nervous system caused by an early version of covenant plasma grenades?
Roanoke Gaming I'm not disputing your comment but what is your source for that info? Would be interested to know. Love your vids too always a good watch
It was Boren's Syndrome, which was the ONI fabricated medical condition that they labeled the Orion program graduates with to excuse the changes to their DNA and other strange side effects of the program. ONI spread the story that Boren's Syndrome was caused by being exposed to the radiation from various Covenant weaponry, so as to prevent any doctors from looking too closely into the particular DNA makeup of the Orion graduates. Source: halo.wikia.com/wiki/Boren%27s_Syndrome
The Spartan-IV's are essentially the spread of Mjolnir armor to already existing soldiers as a way to bolster numbers and the quality of non-augmented personnel (in comparison to previous Spartan generations). While Spartan-III Alpha company's mission was a success, it could still be considered a loss due to the spartans not being able to live to fight another day. What would be the point of making really powerful soldiers if they're going to die too soon? The issues then only extend to other Spartan-III companies where few actually manage to survive. To then top it off with the losses of numerous Spartan-II's, which are supposed to be the best of the spartans, what else could ONI do? Master Chief isn't immortal and if he does die, who can possibly take his place? To me, the Spartan-IV project is an initiative to improve the armor while also increasing the pool of soldiers that are high quality while there's still time. The other generations' programs still takes time regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the Spartan-IV generations. Actual combat experience isn't something that can be trained into and talented personnel don't exactly get mass produced. By using military personnel that already exist and powering them up is another way to effectively fight the opponent.
I have a question why mention that is as modern humans are close to the spartan 1 project what do you mean by that? You said it and I was hoping i could get more info on it
mason collette No, I don’t even think he was special forces. Some dudes are badass killing machines from the start. Now imagine if a guy like that actually did become a spartan.
Spartan IVs are NOT Spartans cuz that just takes away the meaning of what a Spartan is in the first place a warrior that knows nothing but combat and is trained from childhood to be a Spartan that does not apply to Spartan IVs therefore they are not Spartans
LOL the historical spartans were really not that good. The poet/philosopher that bragged about their feats even himself admitted there were better warriors. Sure they were good, but they were definitely no supersoldier just extremely well trained in martial and political affairs hell spartans own slaves and wrote poetry and took dance classes. They were more like Social elites or warrior nobles which exist in many other cultures.
there is an old saying "Someone can always kick your ass" doesn't matter how good you are, someone is always going to be better, but Spartans were pretty great warriors nonetheless so it seems to fit with the newer Spartans that they be named after them, albeit the original Spartans were a little more social lol
Who were notible spartans from each program? SP1: I know only sgt. Johnson. SP2: I know only master chief and Jorge (noble 5). SP3: I know only noble team (besides noble 5). SP4: I know none.
II: Fred, kelly, Linda, Jerome, Kurt, cal, will, grace, Douglas, Jorge, Anton, vihn, Sam. III: Shane, Tom, Lucy, ash, holly, Olivia, noble team, headhunters. IV: All of alpha 9 except rookie. Even Dutch rejoins to become a spartan later I think.
The Flood didn't consume Johnson because of a disease he developed as a result of sustained proximity to plasma grenades and the radiation they give off. It's mentioned in one of the books.
I'm pretty sure the Orion 2.0 project started in the year you said but that doesn't mean Johnson was the first batch... Also the Spartans was not made to strike fear to into the covenant... Because the covenant was not a factor in their creation, but rather a factor in the later stages of the Spartans development (they got mjolnir after the covenant showed up).
I am not sure if Johnson was the first of the first, but He was one of the first Spartan I's for sure, So to me that's the first batch, as for the covenant, yah that might have been a misspeak, insurrection first, covenant later, just a happy coincidence we had Spartans ready to take out aliens lol
Technically not, but the first batch of successful "Spartans". Well, he didn't kill himself so that counts also I'm using the term "Spartan" very loosely. If anything he's an upgrade version of an ODST.
Great video but I have one small problem with it. During the SPARTAN II project a kid, I think his name was Kay, was offered a chance to leave be brought back into his civilian life. The only catch was that they would have to erase his memories, which had a chance to end up killing him. He refused and would later be part of Grey Team. What I wan't so say here is that, although it was ,exept for this case, never stated, the children were able to leave. They had to cause considerable trouble but they were allowed to leave. Other than that this video was perfect.
Interesting, I figured they would be so indoctrinated they wouldnt really want to leave or were just not given the option, glad you liked the video tho bro! thanks for sharing that info!
No problem. The backstory of Kay and Grey Team is told in Halo: The Cole Protocol and even then it's not a major part in the books story so it's easy to miss. Thanks for the reply and keep being awesome.
Look up gray team. They were offered to leave but ended up become gray team which was basically Spartan iii's style missions for years without contact behind enemy lines.
I don't know why people consider the spartan 4's "weak" just because they are apart of the 343 era, they are definitely lacking in the biological enhancement area but make up for that in technological enhancements.
What happens if they are caught unprepared like in infinite or their armor is emp'd if they can't fight back in hand to hand without their armor like the 2&3's then I'd say they are weaker.
Lone Wolf considering the army’s under scrutiny for putting certain chemicals in MREs that apparently dull pain increase aggression, I’d say we’re probably already there but the military just won’t let us know that yet.
