You could be right in more colleges looking for pitchability. A certain percentage is still looking for speed. The game is evolving and there are the few out there that are looking for control, movement, and multiple pitches because they have a good velo program to run them through. The pitching evolves as the hitters do too. Look at how the swing has change a bit and more homers have occurred. The pitching has to change to a certain extent to combat the hitting increase.
As a former long time MLB Scout the diffrence is this. I am looking for projection, where will this kid be in his prime. College coaches care about right now, can you come win for me the next 3-4 years...
That is completely opposite of every single college scout and coach I’ve talked to. If you can’t throw hard, 88+ for RHP, 86+ for LHP bare minimum, D1 isn’t even going to look at you. They can teach a kid to pitch, but very difficult to teach a kid to throw 90+.
Your requirements are what gets them in the door. Gets their name on the list to be considered. This video is the next step. Without the velo they aren't on the radar to even bre looked at.
😂 I have to admit that when I say the headline I was kinda confused. My brain was seeing people standing around and was thinking “what does people standing around have to do with the Supreme Court?” For that brief moment I was confused. And then it hit me that my brain mixed up SCOTUS with SCOUTS 😂😂😂 Great content by the way. Way better then what the Supreme Court is looking for!
Keep workin your arm. Long toss, stretching, pitching, etc. nothing is going to prevent arm injuries, it’s just up to luck. But keeping your arm in as good of condition as possible helps towards that.
Buster is right. Colleges look for a certain level of talent and are you game ready in 0-2 years. Pros want raw talent that can be developed. It's those rare high schoolers that are pro ready like Harper and Bichette. I pitched D1 which in my opinion is on par with high A or AA.
@@TB-ij1vg Stuff means you throw 95+ and you can really spin a breaking ball but you can't control it. MLB scouts want guys that just need help with commanding pitches. Position player wise its power, bat to ball skills, speed, arm strength, plate discipline, Hard hit rate, fielding, base running in that order.
Stuff = speed and movement. Nastiness. Stuff is what sets you apart from other pitchers. Might be velo for one guy. Could be a plus plus curveball for another guy.
This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Major college baseball is more and more like the MLB every day. High velocity, high break, high walks, high strikes, lots of home runs.
